  1. Well, seeing as someone on here reported he'd played his last game as a hawk, I'll take this as a good sign
  2. A little adversity is good for y'all, even though it'll still end up an easy win. It's been quite awhile since y'all have had any thanks to your district. Good to get at least a mental test before heading into some tougher games
  3. As a result of financial issues that occurred before the BOM was installed. BISD has the support of the president of the TEA.
  4. The commissioner of TEA just released a statement of support for the BISD board of managers. Also, the change of accreditation is a result of financial decencies that occurred before they took over. I'm just curious: do you feel that the growing amount of thieves that are being convicted for stealing millions of dollars from students and taxpayers is a good thing? Or should they have been allowed to continue stealing from the district? Because as far as I can tell, things have changed considerably since the BOM took over, with the biggest change being that high ranking employees are no longer using stolen BISD funds as a source of supplemental income.
  5. are they from FB Marshall, or Marshall, Tx? Roster says McKnight is from Marshall, Tx, which would explain how they got such a good player, as etbu is in Marshall. Not that it really matters, I'm just curious
  6. And before last year the last time they had a really good team was when they had the Isom twins back in the early 2000s
  7. I find it hard to believe that a lights out shooter who is a competent ball handler and plays good defense wouldn't be making a meaningful contribution for a D-3 team. I'm not saying he goes and is the best player and takes over some all-conference player's starting spot, but I find it hard to believe he isn't seeing the floor and making some sort of impact. But you know more about basketball on this level than me, and I'm not saying that sarcastically.
  8. You know what sounds even less plausible? 7 different college players CHOOSING to leave colleges that they're having success playing careers at to drop down a division or two to play on a DIII squad that averages a good season about every 7 or 8 years. And yes, i would absolutely assume that every year coaches have players that flop out and end up quitting/transferring. Some of those players don't fit in with the team, some fail out, some are dissatisfied with playing time, or maybe the school, or maybe the coaches, or maybe the town their college is in. Many of those players end up transferring to smaller schools. How many players on Lamar's football team (a middle of the road FCS team) came in from big name D-1 schools for many of those same reasons. I know i'm comparing different sports, but it's the same result on a smaller scale. As for questioning whether or not Bullock is good enough to make ETBU's roster, there's no question at all. Now whether ETBU knows about him, or knows enough about him to try and recruit him, or whether they look at his size and a little bit of tape and get scared off, i have no idea. But to even question whether the best player of an entire classification of basketball in the state of Texas is good enough to make a D-3 roster is ludicrous. Having not seen ETBU play this year i can still guarantee you he's good enough to not only make the team, but make a significant contribution, as he would without a doubt immediately become the best shooter on the team, as well as likely the most fundamentally sound.
  9. More likely a bunch of kids who weren't good enough to make it where they were before. I have no doubt he is good enough to make that roster, without even having seen ETBU play in a few seasons.
  10. i guess. a lot of schools around here beating a lot of kids over and over again in different sports, but i don't hear about too many of these incidents. this is at least 3 involving PNG soccer in 2 years.
  11. i didn't say they were the same. I'm just wondering why these types of incidents always seem to occur at PNG
  12. Ive heard some things from a couple of coaches, and I dealt with it when I played against them, too. But hey, according to the other png poster on here, we're just jealous . Seems like the new thing to do out there is to flood the field with cops after the game to make sure it doesn't backfire on them
  13. Well, I mean, he would've helped a lot...
  14. Totally agree. And what's 50 against an opponent that likely couldn't beat your jv team?
  15. So who's responsible for the way the kids in purple were acting?
  16. the reason it doesn't happen in football is that they only play 10 regular season games, and maybe 1 or 2 are out of classification. I'll use HJ as an example, simply because i'm familiar with them. In football they didn't play a single game above their classification. They also only had 4 or 5 spots to even schedule a game against a higher classification. In basketball, thanks to tournaments and a lengthy pre-district schedule, HJ basketball played over a dozen teams from higher classifications, with 8 or 9 wins. Now, i understand that HJ has a good basketball team, and not a good football team, but you get my point. "Had Dville been put in a district with Big Sandy, San Augustine, West Sabine, Grapeland, Alto....they would've gotten skull drug exactly like they are now." but now you're making a super-district out of all the top teams in the region. Thats now how this works. Had Deweyville been in Big Sandy's district this year, they'd have gotten to compete against Bob Hope, Colmesneil, Hull-Daisetta, Sabine Pass, Evadale, and West Hardin. Only two of those teams would've blown them out, maybe 3, and they likely would've won 5 or 6 district games. Big difference between that and getting smashed by every team in the district but one.
  17. This response is actually a pretty good representation (from what i've seen and heard from multiple head coaches) as to the cause of many of the issues that other teams have with PNG.
  18. Class makes a HUGE difference in basketball, just like football. Big Sandy is an anomaly. They'd be ranked #1 in 3A if they were moved up a classification. That is not a normal thing. Deweyville would be competitive with the rest of Big Sandy's district, unlike the one they're in now. That would be a direct result of dropping down with smaller schools with less kids to choose from. To go further into the effect that class makes, what would happen to #1 Silsbee if they moved up to 5A? They'd still be very good, but are they sniffing the regional tourney? I highly doubt it, and Silsbee is a very special team. HJ is a ranked 4A team, and at best they're getting the 4th playoff spot if they move up to our local 5A district. Class does matter, and Deweyville will benefit in all sports, including basketball, by dropping down.
