When crazy Christians were bombing abortion clinics, I did not blame the abortion providers. That being said, if an abortion provider had a rally where he was hanging dead fetuses from sticks to antagonize the anti-abortion movement, I wouldn't be surprised or outraged if his clinic was the next one to be bombed.

again, she acted in a manner that was explicitly planned to elicit just this response. that WAS her purpose. She got the result she wanted. Sorry I'm not outraged. As I said before, if you want to go to Harlem or Detroit and walk around at night with a sign that says "I Hate N******", that's your right. But when someone inevitably shoots you, it's going to be hard for me to feel sorry for you, and I'm certainly not going to use that very predictable result to condemn the whole race for your death.

I encourage anyone who can to please quote me where I've said that her free speech should be limited. This is at least the 2nd time it's been suggested that I'm saying as much on this thread. that being said, it's also funny that you guys keep saying stuff like "we shouldn't limit her speech because it may offend a radical muslim." That's a valid point, except the whole purpose of what she was doing WAS to offend radical muslims. And that's moronic. This has nothing to do with having a different ideology as them. This was a deliberate attempt to provoke terrorists. Sorry that I can't get behind that, freedom of speech or not. When I see someone poking a beehive with a stick, I don't generally blame the bees for stinging them.

cops could've just as easily been the ones who got killed. but that's okay, because the nutjob was able to display her first amendment right to antagonize and provoke terrorists. and surprise! it worked! she got herself her very own terrorist attack! just like she wanted. it's very fortunate that nobody was seriously injured or killed.

At what point did I say she didn't have the right to do it? You have to right to wear a sign that says I hate N****** and walk around in downtown Detroit in the middle of the night, but if you do I don't think anyone should be sitting around saying "see, I told you all black people are violent" after you get yourself shot.

Not sure how 99.9% would be considered a stretch at all. There are over 100,000 Muslims in the DFW area alone. Not one of them took action against this event, even though it was intended as an inflammatory gesture directed toward militant Muslims. Even at 99.9%, you'd have expected hundreds of militants to band together to bring jihad down on this event. Instead, what did we see? Two not very good at being militant Muslims that drove all the way in from Phoenix. Seems like none of the million or so Muslims living closer to the event felt the need to take action. Of course, also in favor of my argument is the fact that there are between 2.5 and 5 million Muslims in the US, and there've been less than 10 Muslim terrorist attacks involving only a handful of Muslims in the US based on the research I've found. So 99.9 might have really been far fetched. 99.999% may be more accurate.
-
you're right, my bad. 99.99%
-
Undoubtedly extremist Muslims are worrisome. But that doesn't have anything to do with the 99.9% of muslims who are not a problem.
-
I think that the guys on here who constantly admit to hating Muslims hate Muslims. As for extreme views, there have been plenty of crimes in the US over the years linked to extremist Chritians.
-
I have a problem with this double standard as well.

The nutjob running the "competition" in Garland got exactly what she wanted out of it. Do something that you know will bring about a possible terrorist attack, then blame ALL muslims for the TWO radical muslims who show up and try something. I know you guys hate muslims, but the woman that arranged this event is an absolute moron. She, and the attendees of the event, are VERY lucky that one badass cop was able to use a pistol to outshoot two criminals with semi-auto rifles.

Lots of good young players after all of those high draft picks. Glad to see them doing well. -
Homicide does not always mean a crime was committed. If it happened in a struggle, then it's possible the officers did nothing wrong. Again, I don't know any details, but it's a point worth making.
-
Or maybe just normal human beings put in incredibly stressful situations who sometimes have to make split second decisions that at the time are crucial to their own survival, or at least they believe them to be so
-
There's been no evidence released that has even proved they did anything wrong. Could they have? Quite possibly. But once again, you're basing your beliefs on biased bits and pieces coming from the media. I recall you doing the same thing with Mike Brown in Ferguson. Of course it later came out that not only was there not enough to charge the officer in that case, but the evidence actually proved he was telling the truth and was completely justified in his actions.
-
Could be a steal! He was going in the top 5 of some mock drafts awhile back. If Dallas can manage him like they did Dez, they might have just grabbed a perennial pro bowler late in the second round. Hard to argue with them taking that chance

Clerk killed during robbery - Beaumont

Have you seen the whole video? While I haven't, i have seen enough to know that he had a gun already pointed at him when he made his move. I can guarantee you that if I'm pointing a gun at you from five feet away, and you're having to reach for/draw your weapon, you can pick any caliber you want to be armed with and you're still going to end up the victim. -
This happens incredibly infrequently. I don't understand why so much outrage is drummed up over a tiny amount of incidents a year (many of which end up being proved justified, such as Mike Brown in ferguson). Police make tens of millions of contacts with black people a year, and you'll see a minuscule amount of these killings, almost always of criminals who are running or resisting. While I agree that nobody should ever be killed unjustly by the police, it seems that the media and society by and large get wound up over something that almost never happens. And when it does happen, and there's evidence to prove it, then the police are charged with crimes. I read an article recently on gawker where they profiled unarmed black people who'd been killed by police in the last 15 years. They could only come up with about 75. The vast majority of the deaths were either during struggles, after being tazed lawfully, or due to the "victim holding a realistic fake gun." All told, there were maybe 15-20 instances of flat out wrongful killings by police in 15 years, and in just about every single one police were charged in those killings. I'm having a hard time seeing some major epidemic of police going all Wild West and killing indiscriminately. But as long as the media continues to portray officers in such a negative light, relationships between officers and minorities will suffer, and these types of incidents WILL become more frequent. I've posted the link to this gawker article so that you guys can read it and decide for yourselves, but even if you think half of them were flat out murder, then we're talking about 2-3 incidents a year. Considering that over 7,000 blacks are killed by other blacks a year, I don't think unjustified police killings of blacks is anywhere close to the banner issue that the media and professional mouthpieces like Al Sharpton would have us believe. so because he got shot and killed instead of robbed, I guess he wasn't victimized? sounds to me like he was EXTRA victimized. -

You can twist it however you want. I'm not saying he shot himself, but I AM saying that if he doesn't do something stupid and just hands over the money then he's at work today and nobody's talking about this. Does that mean I blame him? No. I just wish he'd done things differently and not forced the criminals' hand. -

if you're going to represent having a gun, you better actually have a real one and be ready to use it. Before he pulled the BB gun, there was probably a 99.9 percent chance these guys just take his money and run. by pulling the fake gun, he forced their hand, and unfortunately they shot him rather than running. that's why it's a bad idea to push a criminal into a lose-lose situation. by all means, if you get a chance to, shoot the guy, but don't risk your life to save a few bucks. nobody's fast enough to outdraw an already drawn gun (credit to TVC for that one), not that it matters if your gun isn't even real. -
FYI, my buddy Chad was interviewed on espn radio by Dan LeBatard yesterday, who preceded to hire him to take over his twitter account until Saturday night after the fight. Pretty funny stuff so far!

So Baltimore is 5th in the country in murder rates, and had 235 murders last year. Now three street gangs, likely responsible for a sizable portion of those murders, have united to ask for justice for this guy and trying to convince people to not be violent in their protests. I appreciate the sentiment, I suppose, but really?

Running from the police is not a capital offense. but if you run from police, you run the risk of being tazed, shot, or injured in some way. if criminals are too stupid to realize this by now, well, lets be honest, a lot of criminals are stupid. Now that being said, running from the police is not a valid reason for police to shoot someone (which is why the cop who shot the guy in the back last month has been charged with murder). But it certainly puts officers on high alert, and if you've already shown that you don't care about officer safety by struggling and/or running away, it's not out of the realm of possibility that an officer mistakes you reaching to pull up your pants or bringing a cell phone out of your pocket as you reaching for a gun, or something similar to that. And I don't care how you try to spin it, if you've already resisted arrest, and it looks like you're reaching for a weapon, there's a real chance that you might get shot, regardless of what you're actually reaching for.
