  1. At this point I probably know less people working standard 5-day work weeks than I do people working 4-day weeks, hybrid schedules, from home, etc. how do these families get by during holiday breaks and summer? How do they work around schools' varying schedules, that rarely if ever fit perfectly with the 8-4 or 9-5 workday? They've managed to do so forever, and they're figuring out how to make it work in the districts who've already gone 4-day as well. Some districts provide cheap or free child care on Fridays for families who can show they need it. Churches in my community have offered to do this if we go to 4-day weeks. There are options and ways to help out.
  2. you say lots of things, and are often wrong. it's fine.
  3. You apparently don’t understand how it works, on more than one front. We receive 187 days pay, prorated through the course of the year to ensure we receive a paycheck in the summer. And districts are required to work a certain amount of minutes a year, with 4-day districts adding minutes to each day, working certain Fridays, and an extra week or two or three a year to make up the difference. And you clearly underestimate the difficulty of the job, and the value a good teacher has in society. Like a profession there are good ones and bad ones, but I don’t understand your attitude towards teachers at all.
  4. There are pros and cons to 4 and 5 days weeks. I definitely understand the possible hardships that parents can face dealing with a 4 day week, but one does have to ask how they manage during summer, 2 weeks at Christmas, spring break, thanksgiving, and the various work days and school holidays throughout the year. Our district has lost some good teachers to districts with 4 day weeks, and I would jump at the chance to try it. Happier teachers are more effective teachers, and there’s always an increase in energy and morale around the school after a 3-day weekend. It also saves the district money on transportation, food, electricity, water, etc. I haven’t seen a lot of research on test scores, grades, etc, but my friends who work for 4-day districts haven’t seen any issues.
  5. Beaumont with 3 homicides in a matter of hours tonight. [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]
  6. The first video was filmed on a potato apparently, but the parent who jumped a player should’ve been arrested without a doubt. As an HF fan and employee, that’s embarrassing. Hopefully our district takes whatever actions necessary against the players involved, and the parent if possible.
  7. HF Juniors girls finished 2nd behind HJ. Heard HJ has a stud Pg in the making.
  8. Was hoping they’d sign a big name reliever and maybe trade for a starter. Might be a long shot to make the playoffs this year if we can’t stay afloat until everyone comes back. On a positive, Wyatt Langford has been absolutely raking in spring training.
  9. HF brings back all region player Jackson Seastrunk, but is losing 3 senior starters. I’m curious to see how Pirtle does next year after missing the entire season due to injury.
  10. They’re hollow kind of, but lit up on both sides. Makes it hard to read
  11. Awesome effort by Silsbee in the 2nd half. No quit in these tigers. Congrats on being the best legitimate 4A team in the state for the second straight year!
  12. This is what happens when you let one of the best 6A squads in the state play 4A.
  13. Gotcha. The coaches son #34 is a freshman and scored 27 of their 40 in the semifinal. That’s two studs that have 3 more years together
  14. 1 senior and 3 juniors on this roster. And their best player this year was a freshman as best I can tell. Expect them to be back next year, and maybe the year after that
  15. Ponder got up by moving the ball some and getting smart shots off. In the 4th it seemed like they abandoned that and tried to kill off the game by eating clock, and Hitchcock’s defense was too good for them to be able to pass the ball around up top for very long. It kept leading to turnovers and easy baskets for Hitchcock
  16. They almost lost to BU without their best player, for what it’s worth.
  17. Incredible run by this senior class, and so unlucky to have to finish that run without Dotson. BU showed incredible heart tonight, and gave Stony Point all they wanted and more. I’m confident in saying had Kayde been healthy we’d be watching BU in another state final. Either way, United has everything to be proud of, and nothing to hang their head about.
  18. BU playing with lots of heart. Definitely not moving the ball like they normally do. Hard to quantify how big of a loss it is not having Dotson on the floor.
  19. It’s like $12 a month or something. It’s worth it during the playoffs, although they have cut back on a lot of their regular season broadcasts
  20. Bottley was the difference in this one. In a game where silsbee was up and down, he was steady throughout.
