Its misspeaking. Who was rendered speechless? I'm beginning to see a double standard here. i "misspoke", but fixed it before you posted did you see the palin/couriq interview? it would've been better had she been rendered speechless. instead she was rendered stupid. there's no double standard. if a candidate gives an intelligent answer, but misspeaks, i can live with that. bush was known for that, and while i'm not going to lie and say i never made fun of him, i never held it against him when i judged his intelligence. palin looked like a deer in headlights. not only did she "misspeak", she CLEARLY had no clue what she was talking about in several KEY areas. considering she was trying to become our vice president, i had a serious problem with that. so, to paraphrase: candidate who knows his/her stuff but speaks poorly = OK. candidate who can motivate crowd/arouse older men but doesn't know what the heck is going on in the world = no bueno.

Candidates misspeak all the time. i can live with that. it's when they're rendered speechless by a question they should have an intelligent answer to that i start to worry.

Maybe he is or maybe he isn't. He is almost certainly more educated if that matters. Here are some questions. Does intelligence make a person right in political decisions? If a test is given and it is discovered that I have a higher IQ than others on this board, does that invalidate their political arguments? Should the presidency be determined by IQ if it really matters? If so, let's just give a test and pick the smartest man/woman. Does education really matter? My brother has 4 college degrees, 2 bachelors and 2 masters. He is working on his 3rd masters. I would venture to guess that he is way more educated and probably has a lot higher IQ than Palin, Obama, McCain or Biden. I wonder if my brother should be the next President of the United States. does he share your politcal views??? ;D

i heard he'll be coming off the bench. as long as he's got no ego problems with doing that, he'll definitely be a key component to another possible championship run. -

Good, a point of agreement. I just think it is bad in political arguments to make statements about the other party's candidate that very well might apply to your own. You may not have done so but others certainly have. It is like my old argument about war records. When Bob Dole ran against Bill Clinton, the Democrats thought that a true war hero meant nothing. Fast forward a few years and when it is John Kerry against George Bush, all of a sudden the war record is of utmost importance. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. defnitely a valid point. i don't know if it's as much throwing stones in glass houses as simply doing your best in every election to highlight the significant achievements of your candidate while doing your best to downplay the achievements of your opponent. everyone debating on here does basically the same thing, trying to highlight the highs of our arguments while glossing over the lows, and then trying to bring up the low points of the other person's argument while glossing over the high points.

exactly.

You are probably right about this but one thing that also helped Obama get elected is the things he promised which have not happened since he as been elected, he told the sheeple what they wanted to hear and now he is doing whatever he wants with the help of congress. every president ever elected was at least partially done so based on a bunch of impossible promises that they made to voters during their campaign. empty promises are as much a part of politics as actually getting things done.

Kobe won't miss him. he only averaged 9 points a game this year, and has averaged less than 7 a game in a five year career. the fact of the matter is, it's a WHOLE lot easier to score when you have Kobe penetrating and drawing three defenders. Also, looking at his stats, he's either injury proned or wasn't good enough to make in on the court over the past 3 seasons. in his first season with the knicks, he played 80 games. the next three years he played in 57, 57, and 35 games, respectively, before playing 82 games this season. the rockets just gave a very average player a pretty big contract, long contract. Approximately $6.5M over the next five years, making him the 3rd or 4th highest paid player on the team. -

the question is how well all five of these personalities will mesh. they did well last year, but that was before Rondo became a superstar in the playoffs. Now you're going to have 3 legit superstars, and two more players that think they are (Rondo may be one eventually, but i think his numbers are going to shrink dramatically in this lineup). how well will they get along? i'm not making any predictions. i didn't think the "big 3" would make it, and they certainly proved me wrong. -
maybe it's an issue for the police now?

OU could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch. -
i'm pretty sure non-mods can only smite the same person once an hour, unless that's been changed. (and no, i'm not smiting anyone, although i've taken a few today as well)

the rangers completed a three game sweep of the rays tonight. talk about huge! they've now won 5 straight.

that's well done.

today was his 68th career PGA title, putting him only 5 behind Jack on the career list. he also has 36 wins on the European tour. Jack had 0. Tiger is only 33 years old. Jack won 28 titles after he turned 33, so i'd say that Tiger's well ahead of his pace. It's also worth mentioning that Tiger skips many, many tournaments a year, which means he'd probably already be well ahead of Jack if he chose to play even a slightly fuller schedule. he also trains like a world class athlete, so i think he'll be effective and on top of his game far longer than Jack was, barring some unseen catastrophe.

and he wins! the best ever. period.

again, i locked the thread, and though i didn't agree with how he went about it, i agreed with many of the views of the person responsible for getting the thread locked.

also worth noting: Palin didn’t fire the chef, instead transferred her to the Republican state legislature to cook gourmet meals in their legislative lounge. ANOTHER SUGAR-COATED LIE — Designed to portray her as a reform (CHANGE) minded candidate. This means that while she didn't continue to receive gourmet meals at home, her decision saved the tax-payers approximately $0.00. i don't know much that speaks to having a better fiscal concious than other politicians. .

i'm not going to give Palin too much credit for selling the plane. the fact that the previous governor likely lost his re-election bid DUE to the fact that he bought the plane probably played a considerable role in her decision to sell it, rather than being fiscal. if i won a public election largely because my opponent had wasted a vast amount of public funds buying an unneccesary item, i'd probably make selling said item one of my first moves as well. she likely would've kept it had it not been such a point of contention amongst voters. McCain tried to say that she sold it on E-bay for a profit. in fact, The jet was placed on eBay for sale, but it wasn't purchased from the site. The plane was eventually sold through an aircraft broker to businessman Larry Reynolds for less than the asking price and the original cost.
