Whats the biggest contract you'd give Manny Ramirez?
bullets13 replied to bobcatfan's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If Manny's happy, he's hitting. he's happy playing for the dodgers, so they should definitely fork out the money to resign him, as he basically carried the dodgers into the playoffs. -
Phillies vs Rays World Series Thread
bullets13 replied to adminbaberuth's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
i don't know who to pick. i wanted each of these teams to make it, but now that they did, i really can't decide who i want to win. these teams are fairly similar, with both being able to score by producing runs and by the long ball. advantage goes to the rays with their starters, the phillies with the relievers. as for hitters, the phillies are stacked but streaky, and the rays are solid throughout (plus BJ Upton has been on FIRE). This should be a close series. Of course, the Rays could always ride the momentum of pulling it out vs. the sox. -
Sources: Padres lining up suitors for shot at Peavy

even though it's improbable, and they aren't listed, i'm still going to hold out hope that the rangers make an effort to get involved. -
we're mods. seriously though, it's 3 comments out of what, 30? don't worry, i'm done on this one.

Well-planned rebutal. Touche! Just wait. Central and South American players are starting to realize that the MLS is a viable option to play. It might not be followed as passionately, but there's no question about whether you're gonna get paid at the end of the month or not. Another thing that that a few of them enjoy - and this the definition of irony - is the anonimity that they get here. Juan Toja, while he was here, talked about it. Bullets, it'd be like you living at the circus. You'd be just another clown in the crowd... now i really am going to fight you. will you be watching MLS games on your polaroid TV? just messing with you. you do have a lot of good points, but i still would almost rather watch the WNBA than MLS.

oh, i thought this was a dallas cowboy thread.

meh. i'll fight you, bon.

no beaumont? seriously, though, i wish we'd quit adding teams and try to improve the ones we already have.

how much does OU suck?

OU could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch. that's how bad they suck. -
*WO-S vs. HF Updates*/'STANGS ROLL!
bullets13 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
if a game is 50-0 at the half, and ends only 66-0, the coach did a damn good job of keeping the score down. if the stangs put up 50 in the first half, just think of what they could've done to a beat up, worn down, demoralized horns team in the second half. this game could've been 120-0 if hooks had wanted. i don't know if it's true or not, but if the horns coach opted not to use the running clock, every point in the second half is on him, and he's lucky that the mustangs chose not to put up more. -
HJ, 34-20.

*West Brook vs. Lee Updates*/WB SURVIVES A SCARE!

a win is a win, but in this case, it could be a loss if some of these WB players aren't able to come back for next week's game. -
* Lumberton vs. Ozen Updates/RAIDERS WIN!!!
bullets13 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
this was a must win for lumberton, and they made it happen. the way this district is, pretty much every game is a game you could easily lose, so this was huge for l-town. -
*Nederland vs. Central Updates/JAGS WIN!!!

sheesh. -
what do people think of ozen this year?
bullets13 replied to ozen8's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Ozen will benefit from an improved team and a smaller district. ya'll will still be the underdogs against the big names, but you should have a chance for an upset or two, and possibly of sneaking into the playoffs. -
the boys didn't look so hot last night.

Phillies down Dodgers to advance to World Series
bullets13 replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
this makes me happy. now if the rays can win, i'll be estatic. the rays need to go ahead and put it away tonight so that they can set their rotation for the series. the phils are all going to be rested and ready to go. -
Shaquille O'Neal says he'll get back at the San Antonio Spurs for using the "Hack-a-Shaq" strategy in games where they led handily in last season's playoffs. "The only thing I call cowardly is when you're up by 10 and do it," O'Neal told Phoenix radio station KTAR. "That's a coward move and [spurs coach Gregg Popovich] knows that and I'll make them pay for it." O'Neal said he thinks the "Hack-a-Shaq," where teams foul O'Neal, a notoriously poor free-throw shooter, whenever possible late in games, makes the game less appealing to fans. He said he didn't have a problem with the ploy, only the timing. O'Neal shot 59 percent from the field last season, but only 50 percent from the free-throw line. There was talk that the NBA might change the rules on the "Hack-a-Shaq" during the offseason, but that didn't happen. O'Neal was asked if he was disappointed the rules weren't changed. "[The strategy] doesn't work," O'Neal said on KTAR. "You know San Antonio tried it but they went home a couple weeks after we went home. "I just have to go to the line and hit them and make them pay, and I will, I'm not worried."

BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox's season isn't quite up in flames, but a small fire at a landmark near Fenway Park can't be a good omen. [+] EnlargeAP Photo/Charles Krupa The Citgo sign, looming over Fenway Park, was unblemished prior to Wednesday's fire. The fire Wednesday melted and blackened some of the plastic panels on the red, white and blue Citgo sign over Fenway's Green Monster in left field. No one was injured. Steve MacDonald, a spokesman for the Boston Fire Department, said the flames and smoke, first spotted by bystanders and drivers about noon, were quickly put out and the blaze was likely caused by an electrical short circuit. Damage was estimated at $5,000. The Green Monster has seen several balls soar over it in recent days. Boston trails Tampa 3-1 in the American League Championship Series. According to Citgo's Web site, the 60-foot by 60-foot sign -- which has been on top of a building by the ballpark since 1940 -- includes more than 5 miles of neon tubes, lit by 250 high-voltage transformers. In 2005, however, the company renovated the sign and switched to light emitting diodes (LEDs), according to the Boston Globe.
