  1. Trust me, you dont want to see it!!!! We have children stuck in attics and on roofs. WHY DIDNT THE PEOPLE LISTEN!!!!!!!!! GET OUT MEANT GET OUT!!! anyone with a child currently on their roof should be charged with child endangerment.
  2. any updates on either of the tornadoes? heard from my neighbor on glenmeadow in beaumont, said there was siding missing from some of the town homes and damage to carports. i got one message and then never heard back from him.
  3. From the Enterprise: Beaumont conditions worsen, but at least one person is running around town - naked By BLAIR DEDRICK ORTMANN September, 13, 2008 While power surges have started to affect the downtown Beaumont area, a streaker was reportedly seen running around town through the storm. Some areas of Beaumont have lost power entirely. A huge clap of thunder sounded, making the power blink off for a second.
  4. i heard that officials are asking people who stayed in galveston to write their social security numbers on their arms. this is scary!
  5. I heard about a 584 foot freighter that was stuck out in the ocean earlier, but i assumed that they would be able to get the crew off. i just heard that the ship has been drug out 100 miles to sea, and is basically in the middle of the hurricane. rescue efforts have been halted because it's too dangerous for helicopters and coast guard boats to get close. 22 crewmen are apparently stuck on board. keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
  6. between offers of poker and deer meat, i'm starting to wish i'd stuck around a little longer ;D
  7. Ike Strengthens; Hurricane Warnings Issued For Texas, SW La. Coast UPDATED 7 AM CDT, September 12, 2008 UPDATED By WeatherBug Meteorologist, Chad Merrill Large and powerful Hurricane Ike is edging closer to the Texas coast as mandatory evacuations continue. The National Weather Service is urging all coastal residents under evacuation orders, especially those on Galveston Island, to leave or they "may face certain death." i'm glad to hear most of them are gone.
  8. anyone heard comments on cnbc or twc about "certain death" if you stay in some areas? i haven't, but i've heard from two different people that they heard comments like that on those channels.
  9. good luck and stay safe to those who stayed behind! if you have power, keep us updated on here!!!
  10. i'm already evacuated, but in normal situations i'd be up for a game. do you play often?
  11. does anyone else get the feeling this one might be worse for us than rita was? if nothing else, the large amount of people who aren't leaving is frightening.
  12. after being held hostage by BISD until 6:15 this morning, we took off to head for dallas. 105 already looked way crowded, so we went 96 to marshall. for every car heading the same direction as us, i saw 40 going back towards beaumont. we ended up cutting over to dallas on 20, and we made it from beaumont to dallas in 5 hrs and 15 minutes, which is not really any slower than going by 45 when there isn't an evacuation. I can't believe we didn't hit any snags!!! if you haven't left yet, but are planning to, i'd suggest going through lumberton towards marshall. from what i hear, 10, 105, and 90 are all very congested.
  13. Becky Ames is on tv lying as we speak. talking about how it was going to corpus, so they didn't call it yesterday, and that the storm had turned in the last 3 hours. how did i know, but she didnt?
  14. Coop do you have that capability with your 49000+ post????? ;D ;D ;D coop gets to give karma and smites in sam's club sized quantities.
  15. if they'd issue the dam evac i'd leave tonight and get the heck out of here! it would also help traffic tomorrow if say the 5-10% of us who would leave tonight could get out of everyone else's way!
  16. i predict that by noon tomorrow somebody will have enough sense to call for a mandatory evacuation. of course, if they want, we can still host the game on 105 or 90, where we will all be moving approximately 2 mph.
  17. man, the new projection is a lot closer to home! i guess we should've maybe been evacuated today? well, just think of all the money the county won't lose on transporting those in need, and all of the money that BISD can still make tomorrow.
  18. geez coop, on that model, a lot more of those tracks are a lot closer to us!
  19. the beaumont courthouse will be closing tomorrow at noon and be closed through the weekend. how about BISD, Dr. Thomas?
  20. leaving it up to us means forcing many of us to stay. let's see how the meeting tonight at 9:30 goes.
  21. we're in a "hurricane watch" area for a storm only a couple of days out, and people act like we're silly for being nervous.
