The Rangers are not out of the pennant race yet!
bullets13 replied to bullets13's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
You must not be familiar with the Rangers' strategy when it comes to pitching. Anytime they have a good young prospect, they trade him. Then they sign veteran pitchers that had one good season 4 or 5 years ago. -

that's pretty funny. Duncan is a sissy. he belongs on a team with malone and stockton. then you'd just need two more players to make the all-time NBA boring team. Bullets, you are my new best friend. Seriously, you have to be the smartest person (besides me since I think the same as you) that I have ever met on this subject. Great work, truly is It's always nice to find a kindred spirit on the board ;D -

after the rangers went on their semi-annual 2-12 skid, i figured they were done, but they're turning it up! since then, they're 13-5, including a nice 9-3 against their division. right now, they are 20-21, and if the angels lose tonight, they will be only 3 games back! -
shocker here, i know, but berkman is 1 for 1.

When I first saw that I thought you were talking about me. Then I read the rest. i was talking about you! you're tearing up the softball league. ;D

Fat Elvis has been arguably the best fantasy player in the game so far, as well. He and Ramirez are neck and neck!

Celtics vs Cavs thread/Celtics Advance!

the celts certainly don't look like the championship team that people have made them out to be. of course, if they keep this nucleus together, they're only going to get better. -
Annika Sorenstam will retire after the season, ending an LPGA Tour career in which she has won 72 tournaments to date and delivered a defining moment when she teed it up against the men on the PGA Tour. She was to announce her decision at a news conference Tuesday at the Sybase Classic in Clifton, N.J., a person familiar with her plans told The Associated Press. The 37-year-old Sorenstam has hinted at retirement the past several seasons, saying she wanted to devote more time to her growing business and to start a family. She is engaged to Mike McGee, son of former PGA Tour player Jerry McGee. "This would be very much like Annika to get on top and then quit," said Judy Rankin, a Hall of Famer and television analyst. The decision comes two days after Sorenstam won the Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill by seven shots for her third victory of the season, and first against a field that included Lorena Ochoa. It was a sign that Sorenstam had fully recovered from injuries and was poised to make a strong big at recapturing her stature as the best in women's golf. "I just hope to continue this momentum," Sorenstam said after winning. "I'm feeling it. It's turning around, and so I can't wait for the next month or so to come with big tournaments, and I'm excited." Sorenstam dominated women's golf like few others, especially during a five-year period when she won 43 times and finished among the top three nearly 70 percent of the time. But for all her achievements — the only woman to shoot 59, 10 majors and one of six women to complete the career Grand Slam — she became most famous for testing herself against the men. Sorenstam became the first woman in 58 years to complete on the PGA Tour when she played at the Colonial in 2003. She missed the cut, but earned worldwide respect for the way she handled herself amid massive scrutiny. She won LPGA Tour player of the year a record eight times, including five straight seasons until Ochoa ended the streak in 2006. Sorenstam was ineffective most of 2007, the first time in 12 years she failed to win on the LPGA Tour, as she recovered from back and neck injuries. She won the first tournament of the year in Hawaii, picked up a playoff victory in South Florida three weeks ago, then continued a slow rise in the world rankings toward Ochoa with a dominant victory in Virginia. But when asked Sunday if she would defend her title at Kingsmill, Sorenstam hedged. "I hope so," she said. "I'm going to continue this year the way I started it and at the end of the year. I always assess it like I have the last few years. At this point, I feel great about what I'm doing." Sorenstam's 72 victories put her third on the LPGA Tour's career list behind Kathy Whitworth (88) and Mickey Wright (82). She is tied for fourth in career majors, five behind record-setter Patty Berg. But those kind of marks never appealed to Sorenstam, even when she was winning at least 10 times during a season. She often talked about stopping sooner than people imagined to pursue other interests, whether that meant her affinity for cooking or fitness. Sorenstam opened a golf academy last year near her home in Orlando, Fla., also launching her brand ("Annika") and a Web site. Sorenstam plans to marry next spring. She is not the first LPGA Tour star to retire early. Wright, whom many regard as the best, stopped playing a full schedule when she was 34 and won the last of her 82 tournaments at age 37. At the end of the '07 season, Sorenstam felt she had arrived at "the back nine of my career." "I've done a lot, and I'm satisfied in a lot of things," she said. "I've achieve so much more than I ever thought I could."

Rockets need to develop Steve Novak.....

I see your point short, and I won't argue that point because i do believe it has merit. I'm not suggesting that T-Mac is soft, and I'm not saying that T-Mac has as good a supporting cast as many other teams. I'm saying it doesn't make sense for his production to drastically drop in the 4th quarter. Kobe and Bron Bron may have better supporting casts, but they're still the center of every play like T-Mac is, and they aren't too worn down to score in the 4th, even though they're being double and triple teamed every play. T-Mac is a bonafide superstar, but he's not in the conversation with Kobe or LeBron or CP3 (IMO). Until he starts playing like a superstar for the whole game, the Rockets are going to continue to struggle to win a series, regardless of who is around him (unless the rockets pick up another bonafide superstar who will actually perform in the clutch). -

i'm not sure, it's a thought. was he terrible in the 4th quarter during the regular season too? OK!!! Lets look at the truth!!! Utah has two allstar players in Boozer and Kirilenko, Williams will be one next year. Okur Is one of the top 15 Centers in the league. And there are players are 6'7 and better players to throw at T-MAC. You basically had T-MAC and 4 role players on the court at all times... The second best player on the court was Rafer and he missed 3 1/2 games this series. And Rafer is NOT a star. You can't expect T-Mac to beat this team alone. Last... KOBE was missing the playoffs when he had only Lamar Odom. When T-Mac had only Rafer Alston he was winning 23 straight games. Rafer is NOT as good as Odom!!! So who is the REAL star! He had Yao for the first 13 of those games. It was still an impressive streak, but once they lost the momentum of the streak, T-Mac only led them to a .500 record for the rest of the season counting the playoffs. McGrady is a very talented player, but there are plenty of superstars in this league who carry a big load on their team and still manage to perform in the 4th quarter. The argument about his supporting cast would hold more water if McGrady was playing well in the 4th and they were still losing. As it was, he underperformed in the 4th quarter of several winnable games. I don't buy the argument that he was tired. There are several players in this league playing the type of minutes he plays who are just as central in their teams' schemes as he is. Comparing Kobe to T-Mac is not comparing apples to apples. It's like comparing hundred dollar bills to fifty dollar bills. Both are nice to have, but anybody in their right mind would rather have one more than the other. -
I win, I win!!!

T-mac isn't soft, he's a choke artist. There's a difference. He put up great stats in every game, but in the fourth quarter, when he's supposed to take over, he looked awful. I agree with ya'll that he needed some help, but i don't understand how he could own the game for 3 quarters, and then look so bad in the 4th. In the 4th quarter: L Game 1: 0 points (rockets were in this game, only down 8 going into the 4th) L Game 2: 1 point (rockets were only down 2 going into the 4th) W Game 3: 7 points (he hit some big shots, but it took him until 3:29 in the 4th to find the basket) L Game 4: 4 points ( no points in the last 4:35 of a 4 point loss) W Game 5: 8 points (no pressure here, the game was over going into the 4th) L Game 6: 12 points (again, not much pressure here, as the game was basically over going into the 4th) He was fantastic in this series unless it was the 4th quarter of a close game. -
