  1. how about Argentina vs. Brazil at Ford Park? seriously, though, i'd like to see some of our MLS teams get to play some average EPL teams to see how we stack up. Sure, it's fun getting beaten by Real Madrid's B-team, but I'd really like to see someone like D.C. United duke it out with a full-sided Portsmouth or Blackburn side.
  2. I wasn't really surprised when I heard this. If someone said "pick the one maverick who you think smokes pot on the dallas mavericks", i probably would've said howard. personally, i don't have a huge problem with his revelation from a playing standpoint, as he's correct when he says it has no bearing on how he does while playing basketball. the problems arise when you consider that he's admitting to committing a crime, and that thousands of kids out there who look up to him are hearing something from one of their role models that is contrary to what other important people (parents i.e.) are telling them.
  3. The mavericks are trash this year. They are soooooooo much worse right now than they were even at the beginning of this season. Not to keep harping on this, but they are awful with Kidd in the lineup. They gave up too much talent to get him, broke up their team chemistry, and also screwed up by giving up future draft picks. As badly has Paul has made Kidd look, I'd just as soon have Devin Harris playing the point, seeing as he can at least hit a jumpshot. Also, it sure would be nice havind Diop down low to get a rebound. I can't wait to see what Kidd does next year after the hip replacement surgery (or to see if he can even remember how to get to the arena).
  4. ya'll better watch out! after a solid week, i've risen from last place and firmly entrenched myself in 10th (or 5th, if you count the 99 points i was cheated out of during the second week). I have my eyes on a top 9 finish! can you hear the footsteps?
  5. it's scary how good they're already doing at this age.
  6. i'm kinda leaning the same direction, but at least i have a little hope now.
  7. But Brown will probably start Mason or Balbay at the point! guess he's screwed then i love watching him play, but if he's not even dominant enough at the point to play it for texas, how is he going to do it for an NBA team? and you know that there's not a team in the league who's going to play a 5'11'' two guard.
  8. as you said, he's in a system where they want him to shoot... that's why i said his only shot was to come back and show he can play point next year. i don't know how many teams are going to be swayed by his 1.5 assists last year, especially considering his short stature. if he comes back next year and GREATLY improves upon the numbers he put up at point from his freshman year (6.4 points, 3.0 assists), then maybe he has a shot. i just don't think with his size that he's explosive enough to play point in the NBA.
  9. his only shot is to come back next year and prove that he can play the point
  10. Well, i kinda doubt he's going to be projected high enough for him to come out, although we see kids make stupid decisions all the time come draft time.
  11. He hasn't hired an agent, and says if he's comfortable where it looks like he'll be drafted, he'll stay in the draft. If not, he'll be back to Texas for his senior year. I find it hard to believe that Abrams will ever make any notable contribution in the NBA. At 5'11'', the only position he could realistically play would be point guard, and he's not good enough with the ball to do that. The NBA is full of players that can shoot like he can, with the only difference being they're all 3-6 inches taller than he is.
  12. Just heard this on ESPN... I'm real cranky.
  13. I'm going to predict that Mark Cuban is stupid for making the Jason Kidd trade. (yes, i know this isn't really a prediction)
  14. Is Kingwood Park only freshmen and sophomores?
  15. What a win! HJ is heating up at just the right time!!!
  16. hallelujah to that!!! Astros win 10-3, and Roy strikes out 6 in 7 innings with 3 ER for his second win in a row!
  17. Oswalt got a quick 1-2-3 inning in the top half of the first, and then his offense batted around in the bottom half. The astros offense might be waking up! Stros lead 5-0 after 1!
  18. I'm definitely pulling for my mavericks... they proved the other day that they are good enough to beat the hornets. This is one of those series where if i was a hornet fan, i'm not really happy about getting dallas in the first round. how often do you see a 7 seed who's 51-31? I'm going to be optimistic and say Mavs in 6.
  19. well, those are just a couple of old favorites... but that's why i passed on a-rod and mariano rivera
