  1. It's funny how you so adequately describe yourself when referring to others. I've been reading your posts on here for quite awhile now, but this is the first time we've butted heads. It boils down to this... you have a lot of good ideas, and oftentimes i find myself in agreement with you. Even on these threads where we've recently been going back and forth, I still have agreed with you on some points. The problem is that anytime someone does not share your opinion, instead of either stating your case or letting it go, you find a way to insult the other person. You act like you're the only "expert" on this board, and that anyone who doesn't agree with you is an idiot. You're obviously blatantly biased towards Ozen and their coaching staff. That's something i can completely understand, as i'm loyal to my teams too. The problem is that in any situation where someone doesn't pick or praise Ozen's coach, or Ozen's player, or Ozen's alumni you get pissed and create an argument. So what if someone would start a team with Sutherland instead of Boutte. The thread was "Who would YOU pick", not "Who would you pick if you didn't want to get insulted by Dick Vitale"? Now before you get the old tighty whiteys all bunched up, let me say this... You're good for this board. Oftentimes you spur really interesting, enlightening conversation without insult. You're one of the most active people on the HS BB forum, and you keep things jumping. Just take the time to realize that not everyone is out to insult Ozen, or you for that matter.
  2. are these in order, or just your top 5 overall in no particular order?
  3. well, look at the brightside... it's always better to learn a lesson from a win than a loss. i'm sure HJ will pull it back together and be ready for their next game... and congrats to WOS for making it interesting.
  4. and i'm not criticizing Perkins or his stats in my previous post. I've never said a negative thing about him on this site, and i don't really feel like anything i just stated was anything more than the common facts. those stats were merely a response to your statement that he left ya'll ready to play in the NBA. Dicky, you're right to a point, though. It did start at Ozen, and there's no doubt that ya'll helped him start to become the player that he is today. I just don't want you to kid yourself about how big of a role ya'll actually played. i think much of what he got at Ozen he could've gotten at a lot of schools. It's clear to me through his progression over the past few years that his NBA coaches and his own work ethic have been much more crucial to his developement.
  5. to me NBA ready does not mean getting mop-up minutes the first two years of your career. it's going in, starting, getting solid minutes and making solid contributions. are you saying that when he left high school that's what he did? there are 6-9 players all over the NBA, but not that weigh 280 pounds that have his natural athletic ability. he's having a breakout year, but his numbers are still not huge. he's been in the league for how long now? for his career he's averaging less than 5 points and 5 rebounds a game. and he left ya'll NBA ready? He's now becoming NBA ready, and he's still a ways away from achieving what he's capable of. If ya'll made him so great, as you're implying, why, after all of this time, is he just now starting to perform at the NBA level. I don't care what you say or think, he could've found his way to the NBA through a lot of routes that didn't involve Ozen HS. And i would assume when he came to ya'll, he wasn't NBA ready, being a freshman in high school and whatnot.
  6. Well, i just typed a long response to this, but Poppa beat me to the punch, so yeah, what he said...
  7. Perkins' size got him into the NBA, not Ozen's coaching prowess. There's no doubt that they did a good job with him while he was there, but as for implying that ya'll groomed him for the NBA, that's laughable, whether you're joking or otherwise. Had he gone to any other competitive 4A high school in the state, I'm quite sure he would've been taken in the same area of the draft due to his size and ability. No matter how you feel about this, you can't deny that it's taken several seasons of NBA coaching, and a team stacked with all stars for him to become a real factor for the Celtics. All that said, I'm impressed with how far he's come, and proud to see a kid from Beaumont make it big.
  8. Every team in the Big 12 has a winning record right now. That's pretty dang impressive, i don't care who you've been playing.
  9. i'm hoping that johnson will step it up a little once he gets into gameshape. i was pleased with mason's play last night... he's not huge, but he's scrappy
  10. If you could pick any coach in the area, and any one player in the area to start a program at a new school, who would you take, and why?
  11. this would be fun, but texas isn't going to be a #1, and lamar won't be anything but a #16 if they get in.
  12. I tell you what, Augustin is the real deal. At times Texas looks better without Durant than with him, but at others you can tell they miss him. One good thing is that while last year, Durant was a one man show, this year Abrams, Augustin, and James are forming a three-headed monster.
  13. Awesome! they're doing a tremendous job this year, so i figured it was just a matter of time.
  14. hehe... i'm a pretty sharp guy ;D
  15. he's impressed me this year... you don't expect him to score too much when you look at who's scoring around him, but the other parts of his game are looking good.
  16. wouldn't be too difficult if you kept the scores of the games... I know, but who has the scores to a 7th grade game other than the coach? It is not like it is put in the Beaumont E! just about any dedicated parent, as well...
