  1. i just don't see the point... you'd have to find a way to split it evenly, and then instead of playing 22AAA in the first round of the playoffs, the two districts that split from 21AAA would probably just play each other in the first round, meaning that you're still going to end up with WOS, Kirbyville, and Jasper/Silsbee moving on. It would really do no more than dilute the first round of the playoffs.
  2. I don't know about that... it was pretty polarized, with a few really good teams and a few really bad teams. there wasn't too much middle ground. If you break it up, then you might pick up one extra quality team in the playoffs and a couple of teams that probably have no business being there.
  3. Playing good teams in pre-district is beneficial. Unlike college ball, your ranking doesn't matter, so why not play teams that are going to challenge you and make you better. Lumberton has had a great season, but i think if they'd played a difficult pre-district schedule they'd be even better than they are right now. Look at it like this... lumberton probably gained more expererience and confidence from playing and beating LaMarque than they did in all of their pre-district games. Why not play teams of this caliber at the beginning of the year so that you are already geared to playing against a high level of talent when district starts. Lumberton had a flukey win over Dayton at the beginning of the year, and was fortunate that they didn't have any more tough games until the last few weeks of district. They had time to play some decent teams to gear up for PNG, Nederland, and their playoff opponents. I honestly think that if Dayton and Lumberton had played again the week after their first game, Dayton would've easily beaten them. Now, because of the experience that Lumberton has gained from it's last 5 games or so, i think it could be an even match. Why not get to that level earlier in the season instead of hoping that you can get there late in the year? There's really nothing to lose from playing good teams in pre-district, with the possible exception of a flashy record.
  4. and they're scrimmaging the cowboys and LSU
  5. i also wouldn't say that a district which swept it's first round games, and took 2 of 3 teams to the third round is having a down year. i really am starting to like the odds of ltown and dayton meeting in round 4. down year? i don't really think so. and to say that LaMarque is weak is rediculous. Just because they aren't the same team that was winning championships in years past doesn't mean that they aren't better than about 90% of the 4A teams out there.
  6. I heard that the NFL was looking at Lumberton for maybe replacing the dolphins if they don't win a game this year. ;D ;D ;D
  7. I'd love to see J'Covan Brown go to Lamar, but you can't really expect a kid with top-25 talent to go to what has been an average team in a very weak conference over the past several years. Now the cards look a bit better this year, so maybe if they start winning more games they'll get more of the local stars. Of course, when and if lamar starts it's football team, it's going to have to start winning games before the bigtime stars from this area are going to stay and play there. Even if lamar gets really good, they're still in a weak conference, and aren't going to steal players from texas or tech or aTm who are playing on a much larger stage.
  8. The 'Stangs have already beaten #1, so I don't see why they can't beat #6. Good luck boys!
  9. i absolutely think that rhodes could've gotten the same stats in 22-4A.
  10. i wonder if they have trouble getting quality teams to volunteer for a good thumping.
  11. we have a pretty impressive group left...
  12. there are a lot of good players from this area that would play, but i'd really be more interested in the quality players that we could get from other areas of the state.
  13. if i were from dayton, i'd hate to see lumberton. if i were lumberton, i'd hate to see dayton. these two are the hottest teams in this part of the bracket, and it would be a tough game for both. now, not being from either, i'm really hoping that we see this rematch. neither team is the same team that met early in the year.
  14. this is like comparing steak and lobster. they're both great, and you'd be happy to get either.
  15. livingston is on a bit of a role, but nothing like what dayton's been doing. Dayton wins in a slightly closer game than the last couple. Dayton 41 Livingston 23
  16. I hate to see the brook let one slip through their fingers, but they were playing a great team, and had a great year.
  17. the Ags are off to an impressive start...
  18. i thought at the beginning of the playoffs that there was no chance they would play each other again, but both teams have winnable games, so let's see what happens
  19. I'm going to pick waller, because everytime i pick someone to beat lumberton, lumberton wins. I really, really want lumberton to win. (i honestly think you guys have this one in the bag).
