  1. at least it's not 72 in the first quarter... where's the guy who said HJ was going to win this game?
  2. this is adding a little validity to the statements about dayton being the best team in the district.
  3. i can't stand the spurs... i think dallas takes it this year (finally).
  4. a lot of the kids that are good at basketball in beaumont choose to go to ozen because of their basketball tradition. good coaching doesn't hurt, either.
  5. i can see where he's coming from though. if i had just set arguably all of sports' biggest record and someone wanted to do something to the ball to belittle my achievement, i'd be pretty pissed off too.
  6. Central over PNG is the only upset i see possible for 22-4a. i don't really see it happening, but they have a squad with some good athletes, and png has a habit of playing down to their opponents' levels (beating vidor by 7, ozen by less than that). i've seen several posts on here picking dayton or nederland as upsetting the other, but no matter who wins, i don't know how anyone could actually consider it an upset.
  7. i can't call this game. dayton's only real test was against lumberton, and they're a different team now (you can call central a test, i suppose, but they're having a very tough year). other than that, they've been playing the league's cupcakes for the past several weeks. nederland's only real challenge has been png. the only common opponents are teams that both teams would expect to beat. it'd be nice to have pn-g results or lumberton results to compare. this should be a really interesting game. i would not be surprised if one of these teams wins by 2-3 touchdowns, and i wouldn't be surprised if it goes down to the last second. basically, anything can happen.
  8. i don't really think that he's that big of an asset next year. he's a freakin' fossil. i know he won 3 games this year in the playoffs, but he had a ridiculous amount of run support. now i know he didn't give up many runs (with the exception of the 5 runs he gave up to cleveland in game 2), but the pressure's off when you're winning games 9-1 and 12-2. he had average numbers this year, and had several games where he looked pretty bad. his ERA wasn't awful, but to go 9-8 with that lineup batting for you isn't good. oh yeah, he also had injury problems, probably due to osteoperosis or a faulty hip replacement. i'm sure someone will give him a fat contract, but if i were a GM i'd probably have to pass. no word on whether or not the blood on his adult depends diaper during the world series was authentic, or just a ploy to fire up his team.
  9. i'll take silsbee by 15. why not, everyone else is picking vidor.
  10. it's amazing to me that they were able to hold themselves to only 11 for the rest of the game. they must have put in the backup cheerleaders at the skill positions.
  11. yup, they're in bad shape this year WITH him in the lineup.
  12. and HJ is going to lose by a lot more than 1.
  13. easy... all he was saying was that BC is the only team in district that HJ can compete with (unless they catch OF playing the way they did before the last two weeks). he wasn't dogging your boys.
  14. how long did it take you to come up with all this? it would've taken me until after district was over. thanks for the input!
  15. yup. of course a +30 karma doesn't look so good when someone's been smited 400 times .
  16. who knows... i'm down -8 since last night when i checked it last, and i'm having trouble remembering posting anything that was too controversial. it's all for grins and giggles anywho.
  17. i'm with you man... i don't necessarily have to agree with the post, but it has to be well thought out, well worded, and be based on some form of rational thinking.
  18. in theory that sounds alright, but can you imagine how the players would feel if the coach told them to give up and take a knee midway through the fourth quarter? i know i wouldn't do it. at least run the ball. keep the clock running, without completely giving up. i would leave a game if the coach of my team had them kneel because they were getting blown out.
  19. i know my senior year we were 8-0 and looked ready to make a deep playoff run. our qb, rb, and fb all got hurt in a span of 6 quarters, and we didn't win another game. if the players that stepped in to fill their shoes had been getting time every game, we never would've started 8-0. on a sidenote, one of the beautiful things about HS football (at least in the smaller classifications), is that a lot of the backups and backup's backups see a lot of time on special teams, where they get a chance on every kickoff to make a big play that could change the game.
  20. great, now they can spend copious amounts of money on lackluster pitching. i hope they actually use the money to get some quality starters.
