The Woke Thread: Examples of Wokeness Gone Wrong
bullets13 replied to bullets13's topic in Political Forum
Furious Portland residents say Democrat-backed bill would allow homeless camps to terrorize communities (msn.com) The basic gist of this is that if someone asks a homeless person to move from a public place (for example, the stoop of their restaurant, or the sidewalk in front of their house), said homeless person will be allowed to sue them for up to $1000. House Bill 3501, commonly known as the "Right to Rest Act," would allow "persons experiencing homelessness" to "use public spaces in the same manner as any other person without discrimination based on their housing status" with an "expectation of privacy." -
I think some fan bases typically are worse than others, but every school has at least 1 or 2, and it only takes 1 or 2. When there's more than that it's a nightmare.

parents are part of the job, and bad ones can be as unappealing as bad players.

I found them on facebook. They didn't want to be white. That said, lots of interesting things in the comments of some of their friends and families. People accusing the victim's girlfriend of sleeping with the shooter, who was supposedly one of the victim's best friends.

I have a pretty good idea where he is.

After a little blip on the radar the Rangers took 3 of 4 from the yanks, including a 15-2 spanking yesterday. DeGrom on the DL is a blow, but they got a 3-hit shutout from Eovaldi, and two other solid starts in the series. Seager is getting close to coming back, which will be a boost to an offense that is already raking.

My cousin's ex-wife/baby mama was on there with her new lesbian girlfriend about 25 years ago. Good times.

When I read this, I assume they already know who the persons of interest are. If that's the case, there's no reason to issue descriptions, or even names at this point.

I agree with this. I have some friends who had a child that was born with a rare disorder that is fatal inside of two years, always. The child was in constant pain, had no quality of life, no ability to communicate, etc. etc. etc. The child suffered for about 16 months, financially and emotionally ruining the family in the process, and then died, having never known anything other than pain. Another scenario: if one of my daughters had terminal cancer, and after all hope was lost, decided that they were tired of fighting, of being in a type of pain that medicine could barely touch, I would let them make that decision (even at 7 and 10). Because keeping them around would be for own selfish reasons, and no different than people I know who wait too long to put their pets down, as they suffer silently.

In regards to BU, I don’t see them at state next year. They’ll still be really good, but I think losing Yates and Porchia will be too much to overcome. That said, with Dotson and Payia as seniors, they’ll still have a lot to offer, and could make a deep run. They’ll have another very good season if they stay healthy.

They have “4 persons of interest”, according to the news

yeah, that one hurt.

beat me to it! Especially that prom my sophomore year (older date) that fell on my birthday...

Yup. Could have a heck of a winning streak right now if they'd found a way to close those two out.

I remember that team. HJ was really good then, but never could get over the Jasper hurdle.

I’m all for people doing what they want and being who they want to be, no matter how silly or crazy it seems to me. But the second that those choices affect other people, whether it be in sports, or little girls having to use the restroom next to grown men, or any other related issue, my support for your “rights” drops to zero. The idea that the feelings of .5% of the population are more important that the fairness and safety of all women is absolutely absurd. I’m reminded of a little blurb from Family Guy I saw awhile back. A bartender walks up to a lady sitting at the bar on her phone and says “excuse me ma’am, no porn at the bar.” She replies “oh, it’s okay, I’m transgender.” And the bartender says “oh, I had no idea. Do whatever you want, all the time.”

I don’t drink beer, but if I drank bud light I would still drink it. I just don’t care. That said, this was obviously not going to work out. Your buyer base is conservatives. The crowd you’re trying to cater to isn’t going to give up their craft beers and IPAs to start drinking bud light, but now you’ve angered your devoted buyer base by celebrating arguably their worst trigger in the middle of the biggest culture war our country has ever seen. Stupidity.

The dumbest part of this whole this situation is it could've literally just as easily been the same officers knocking on the same door intentionally to ask if they'd heard any part of the domestic dispute across the street. Reading the number wrong has no bearing on anything. If they'd kicked down the door and rushed in guns blazing, then yes, but that's not what happened here. The police weren't the aggressors, they didn't make assumptions, and they didn't do anything wrong besides confusing a 5 and an 8. The dead guy brought the fight to them, and death unto himself.
-
Gotcha. Then it's safe to assume you're cool with the old man shooting the black kid multiple times unprovoked because he knocked on the wrong door, and the guy who killed the chick in the car that was backing out after they pulled into the wrong driveway and realized their mistake without even getting out of the car? Because literally the only difference between those cases and this one is that the victims (the police) were able to defend themselves when the crazy dude decided to "protect" his family instead of doing any of the many sane options available to him.
-
oh, it's a conspiracy now? So is it your supposition that they ran up and smashed on his door to start with, while screaming at the top of their lungs? Then when that didn't work, they walked away, walked back up and calmly knocked on the door and announced their presence with normal voices?
