  1. 55, the camp is worth the money simply because of the exposure it will give him.  Based on his size and his ability he will be receiving plenty of visits during his high school years.  My son is a sophomore and has been intoduced to several recruiters already.  They have all told him that they "can't coach size".  It also helps tremendously if the coach promotes his players as well and assuming your son attends HD I think Coach Finney will do just that.  It will also be beneficial if you maintain a good relationship with the AD.  Good luck to your son in the years ahead.
  2. How long has the current head coach been there?  Are the really graduating very much of the "old" culture?  Good luck to the Horns.
  3. JG1834 you are wasting your breath.  Disciplined programs win and that's what Haynes has done at numerous places.  You can't convince some people and that's all there is to it.  Good luck to the Lumberton Raiders next season.  You have selected a fine man to lead your players.
  4. No Scatright, I'm not saying that.  If Coach Morgan would have stayed his son more than likely have been the quarterback starting his freshman year.  Jordan Nolan was a good quarterback his junior year when given the opportunity.  Anthony Morgan went on to have alot of success at Carthage.
  5. Jordan Nolan was a good quarterback before Haynes came to Hardin.  He wasn't given a chance until Coach Haynes came.  I can remember watching him during the last couple of games of his junior year and wondering why this kid had not been the starting qb all year.
  6. His track record speaks for itself.  Not sure if he has ever coached 5A.
  7. Hardin actually made the play offs in Coach Haynes first two years finshing 9-3 in his first season.  His offense led by Myles Taylor put up 520 yards passing in a game against EC.  Unfortunately, due to lack of defense, Hardin lost the game 53-46.  They averaged 39 points a game that year but gave up an average of 41 points a game.  If they have some defense to go along with the offense that he will bring, Lumberton should be ok.
  8. Coach Haynes did a decent job in Hardin.  I believe their won/loss record was 29-23 while he was there.  He retired from Hardin due to the school districts budget constraints.  He accepted the incentive offered and moved on.  He and his wife recently built a home in Wildwood so he could possibly hang around for awhile.
  9. Dumas and Delahoussaye will be solid as well as Mata, Mettlen, and several other young players.  Their starters will be mostly underclassmen again.  Most players have increased their strength tremendously with the implementation of an off season program.  The o-line should be greatly improved being led by 6'6" 345 lb Mettlen along with 6' 270 lb Leader.  Mahaney will be another young man to keep an eye on.  Drake and Thompson will lead the defense.  They will win more than one or two games.
  10. 55, I'm certainly not using kids to "say your name".  I am simply relaying the sentiment of one individual who has several friends that play for HD.  He considers all of them class acts and has great respect for all of those guys.  Also, I can assure you that the players you mentioned have no desire to play for HD even though they have an excellent program.  Good luck to all of the HD kids on their upcoming season.
  11. I thought Tarkington won 3 games last year.  Either way they were much improved and should be even better for the 2013 season.  Players to watch from Hardin are as follows- Safety-Taylor Thompson MLB-Zane Drake WR-Chris Dumas HB-Ta'Roy Dellahoussaye OL-Cory Mettlen My sons goes to Hardin and is friend with many of the HD players.  He reads these posts all the time and he said he is glad that the players don't talk as much crap as HDBobcat55.
  12. Hardin Hornets Safety-Taylor Thompson OL-Cory Mettlen MLB-Zane Drake HB-Ta'Roy Dellahoussaye WR-Chris Dumas Also, keep an eye on Justin Johnson and Austin Walker.
  13. usedtobe-Honestly I can't answer for ALL of the kids but I personally know of several that have improved tremendously.  One of the lineman has increased his bench press by 40 lbs and has improved his squat 100 lbs.  One of the running backs has improved to a 4.5 forty from a 4.62 forty.  A sophomore to be lineman can now squat 600 lbs vs about 475 at the end of football season.  I hope this satisfies your curiousity.  I never said anyone would be content at 4-6.  My comment was that they would be much improved.  4-6 compared to 1=9 is much improved.  I was simply giving my opinion on how I think Hardin will finish in 2013 and it's exactly that-an opinion.
  14. Hardin will when at least two non-district games and at least two district games next season.  They will be much improved in all areas.  Solid leadership makes a huge difference.  They have a coach that is inspiring these kids to believe in themselves.  All of the kids are much stronger and faster than last season and this will be evident in the games.
  15. Not quite sure why hd bobkitten55 thinks Hardin fans are content with being average or below average.  He hasn't talked to the same fans I've talked to.  Hardin will be much improved next year.  They actually have an offseason program and tremendous strides have been made.
  16. 1st team from Hardin-Chris Dumas WR junior-Taylor Thompson Special Teams sophomore, 2nd team from Hardin-Brody Taylor-center-senior, Ta'Roy Delahoussaye-RB-junior, Zane Drake LB-sophomore, Taylor Thompson, safety-honorable mention Kia Cormier, CB, junior Sam Holloway left guard senior, Deondre Flores, OLB junior Cory Mettlen offensive left tackle-sophomore
  17. Get in an actual offseason program and go gettem next year guys.  Coach Fortune's comments to a sophomore player after the game-Let's go to work!
  18. Newton by at least 30.  They will probably rest some guys but no doubt want to finish 10 and 0.
  19. Kountze by 8 points.  Not so sure about Warren beating Kirbyville but certainly not out of the question.
  20. hardin01, I personally believe that you are hearing stuff from a school board member meaning you are most likely hearing from one person.  I along with mfd814 am at all the games.  Please come and show your support Friday night in Winnie if possible.  I will be on the top row on the 50 yard line.  Hope to see you there.
  21. Newton played a heck of a game.  Too much speed for Hardin to handle.  Hornets, get in the weight room and do what you need to do to get to the next level.  It probably didn't get noticed, but several Hornets played pretty well last night.  Keep working and your efforts will be rewarded.
  22. Congratulations to the Warriors.  mfd814 said it all.  Hard work, never give up and belief in the system pays off. I think some folks in Hardin need to take all this into consideration.
  23. I second that NewtonNation
  24. Hard to say this but I agree with hardin01
  25. This will be Collins last time against Newton as he is a senior.  Mettlen is just a sophomore and is working hard everyday to get better.  He plans on living in the weight room after football season.  Good luck to both teams and let us all pray that it will be an injury free game.
