I remember back when i was in school the rice festival was a big distraction for the players that week. Of course, not many really cared about football back then either! Out of school that Friday which means kids can be out at the rice festival until midnight on Thursday. I would not want to play Newton on rice festival weekend. The football program was pretty weak. Now, I have a nephew on the EC squad, and it hurts me to hope he gets to make a big playoff run.
