  1. New Caney has the returning district MVP in Jordan Cooper. Over 2000 passing and 1000 rushing yards. I look for him to improve on those stats this year. He will be throwing to a number of talented receivers including a sophomore with 5 SEC offers.

Man, I hope they look in early, like real early.  Like before kickoff and then just don't cut back to this one.

I was wondering what you were going to say when I first saw you had posted to this topic. It really did make me LOL when I read it. However, being the first game of the year and you're at home, I believe you will keep it close. I still think Manvel has too much and will ultimately prevail, but I think you guys will hang with them for the first half to three quarters.

I agree. I just think teams that are disciplined and have athletes and win usually just get credit for being athletic. My point is that teams can be athletic and disciplined.

    The great teams are both.

Agreed, Just being athletic will win you some games, but being sloppy with penalties, losing tempers etc. will lose some games for teams with better athletes.

Nope, out of Conroe ISD I believe.

Matter of fact I wish we had some pull there. St Pius has a senior defensive lineman that was a all district selection for them last year who grew up in NC and went to school through middle school in NCISD. His family still resides in NC. He would have really helped the NC D had he stayed.

I think last year's team had issues trying to find somebody to follow. I don't believe anybody on this year's team will have trouble getting behind Jaiden Howard which I think is something that can't be understated after watching what we did last year, things like Mannie and Carlos fighting on the sideline.

We won't have the exorbitant amount of talent we've had in the past several years but if the team can stay healthy like the '14 team I can see similar results. After we lost the Twins and Raelon we were supposed to take a step back but actually improved due the load being spread across the team on both sides of the ball instead on relying so heavily on three players.

I think BH will be better but Jaiden and Craig tore them up last year and while people in BH may be more excited to see the ball being tossed around I think the faster, more turnover type game they've moved towards actually play into Crosby's hands. I think NC will have a pretty decent defense but without Allison to take the pressure off Cooper, on the zone read especially, I see NC struggling to match their offensive production from last year.

I've already said it earlier but I think Crosby goes relatively uncontested in district play with maybe the exception of having an off night in Dayton or BH and playing a game that's closer than it should be.

I am hearing NC have a move in RB to help take the pressure off Allison on the Zone read. Although he will also be a key part in the secondary. So it may well be a RB tandem of three, with two of last years linebackers getting some carries as well. NC linebackers and secondary will be strength of the defense. As I said in a previous thread, NC plays at Crosby and BH this year so I would give the advantage to the home team. I may change that assessment after I see what we actually come out with the first couple of games.

7-6-D When an entire foot is touching the ground completely outside the lines of the batters box at the time the ball makes contact with the bat the batter is out. It is a dead ball and runners are not allowed to advance.

Thanks, I didn't feel like looking it up. One of my daughters was a slapper and I knew that was how she was instructed. Of course she was called out a couple times. Man I miss those days! But I do have a granddaughter just now starting ( 6U allstar) so she will keep me busy from the stands now :).

I'm sorry, but shutting down the game thread after the final score is not right. I've always agreed with you grad, on pretty much everything. However, not this. Why punish all of us (many of the post game comments are stats and great conversation) because of a select few that want to whine and complain? Instead of shutting down the threads, ban the adults that can't act like adults. If we can't talk about the game, after the game, I'm out. I'll go to another board to have a civilized conversation. You do realize that you will lose a crap load of posters if you do this, right?

Have to say I agree with Kicker on this. A lot of good info is posted after game has ended on the threads. Do they sometimes get out of line, yes they do, but I for one would hate to see this happen.

Whats happened with people on the softball thread. I know several years back 2006 - 2010 or so, this side of the board was very lively and talked about at High School games. Now its a ghost town. Nothing to do with you Grad. It's the parents and followers of the schools that need to be posting. There used to always be post after post about teams and players. Now hardly anything except for what Grad posts.

My three daughters graduated so I don't see as much softball as I used too. I still check in here and see if anything's happening. We had some lively discussions back then, to the point where admins had to step in. I still love the game, and watch when I can.

Yep, Indians  led by I think 14 late 3rd early 4th and did something I thought at the time might bite them, they slowed it way down a little early which did 2 things. It seemed to take them out of their groove (they only scored 48, very few in the 4th) and it allowed Horns to catch their breathe, then Horns made some athletic plays and it was a game by the 2:00 mark. Horns have the bodies, they often just lack intensity and consistency, when they put it out there they're not pushovers.

This is exactly what the radio announcer said. Said Cleveland tried to slow it down and it took them out of their game. Cleveland only scored 14 the second half. They said one of the Tarkington players got hot and they could not stop him.
