Just a curious question here. Would you give Refugio or Bremond a shot at beating WOS? I believe they are ranked 1 & 2 in class 2A which is a couple divisions lower.

While scoring more points is the object I do believe a lack of discipline can lose you a game. For example, losing your cool and taking a late shot at the opponent (meaning after the whistle has blown) especially late in the fourth to extend a drive would be a lack of discipline in my mind. Other than that, I will not extend this argument in the way it looks like this thread could go.

I would say that it was a combination of both. He is gifted, but would he have started on most 5A teams, I do not believe he would. Beyond that, he is now a very experienced QB with 30 games behind him. I believe he threw for over 2000 yards last year in the old Coach's spread offense. Coach Holley will utilize his abilities this year, and Porter will score, just not sure they can stop the other team from scoring more.

True this. I look for Jake to have a good year if he is given time to throw the ball. I guarantee a lot of teams would like to have him running their offense.

I just saw some of the New Caney team pictures that were just taken. I do not know all of the sayings on the back of the jerseys but the two I did see were Respect and Discipline. I thought that was pretty cool. I counted 44 players on the varsity team picture. I'm sure that will fluctuate throughout the year.

I would have Crosby in top 5 in this first poll. Either 3 or 4 in my opinion.

I'm not there but update I got was NC scored on a pick 6 and again on a pass play. Had another pick on D as well. Played a control scrimmage and one live quarter. SF did not score.

My dad was telling about this today. I believe he coached Terry Teagle on at least one of those state championships.

Not so sure about that. Landscape is changing over here. We have at least two kids that transferred in from KWP. A lot will depend on how the new QB works into OC Ware's system. Our D will be pretty good unless the injury bug hits.

For New Caney, a lot will depend on how the new QB performs. He transferred in during the school year last year. He is bigger than Ware from last year.

Kroger in Porter has it.

I thought the G Park QB looked pretty good last year. They just never seemed organized, fell behind early and were forced to do things they were not really that good at. They had a couple bigs on the O line, but were not disciplined in their blocking schemes.

I will pass that information on. My future son in law (June 3rd wedding) took coach Holley's old job and is now in charge of that facility. I was on the home side and seem to remember their being at least 4 lines open.
