I just got off of the phone with one of many "AAU summer gurus", and I am just DISGUSTED! This guy, who called ME, asked about a kid of "his" that we are recruiting, that is eligible to leave junior college after just one year. He asked how much we were willing to "pay" to guarantee that this kid signs with us!  :o :o  I told him thats against the NCAA rules and thats not how we do it here...I WAS going to back off of the kid, but realized that its not HIS fault...PARENTS...If you are able to, PLEASE handle your kids recruitment, and stop allowing weasels like that guy to "pawn off" your kids...GET INVOLVED in the entire process! And DO NOT allow these guys to tell you that Division I is the ONLY way..There are SEVERAL different levels of college basketball in which  in ALL they can earn a COLLEGE DEGREE, at little or no cost to YOU, which should be the ultimate goal.. AAU basketball is a necessary evil, but we must get scumbags like that one out of the system, because he will RUIN it for some unsuspecting kid! GET INVOLVED IN YOUR KIDS RECRUITMENT!! PLEASE! (off of my soapbox now) 8)

DickieV - I'm very proud of you and your position on this matter!!!  :-*

Kountze can't even find enough games for one JV.
From what I understand there are several larger schools that are having difficulty in finding games for Soph teams so Coach Franklin is doing all he can to get a good schedule to help develop younger / less experienced players. I think if you split the Kountze JV and put some of your more advanced players on one team and make them play up than they first of all play more and second, get better because of the quality of teams they are playing against is better. Then you take the other team and continue your current JV schedule...they play much more and get better and more seasoned. I applaud the Coaches trying to focus more attention on the JV program because it is the lifeblood of the Varsity program.
That's funny!!! I will leave it at that.
And well you should.  You've lost the argument. 8)

HEY usedtobe go to the BRENCH, you sound like you're from 20- 4a when we finish with the BIG BOYS your little turn will come
aint he from Ozen?
Not from either, but my original sentiments are still the same.  Why do we have moderators, or any others for that matter, involved in this stuff six months before the season starts.  Take it personal and leave the board space for something more interesting to EVERYBODY.  I'm back from the BRENCH
    (?). ::)

Central might wanna look at opening back up Babe Zaharias Stadium if they wanna sniff a win versus PAM again.  ;D
I, for one, believe that this is enough of this crap.  You guys need to go PM for your back and forth gigging and ball-slapping.  There aren't that many members that G-A-S about what happens between Pam and Central. 8)

    Kountze 1

HJ 3 bot 1 kountze starter walked bases loaded then duplant cleared the bases with a triple
Duplant is the leadoff hitter, Edelmon is the 4 hole that hit the triple with the bases loaded. Man, my son cant get any love on here...
Man, wonder why that is?  Maybe too much parental mouth?  Try a new approach; you stay out of it and let "son's" performance stand on its own.  If its earned, then he will get the "love" on here. 8)

They may try to go the Liberty route and not release it.  I doubt it though.  The Beaumont Enterprise is a little more persuasive than the Liberty Vindicator and KSHN>
Whoa there, Scat, Scoot, Skud - whatever!  Nothing in Liberty County is more persuasive than the all 9's. ;D ::)

Hardin will when at least two non-district games and at least two district games next season.  They will be much improved in all areas.  Solid leadership makes a huge difference.  They have a coach that is inspiring these kids to believe in themselves.  All of the kids are much stronger and faster than last season and this will be evident in the games.
Would you explain something to me?  This is 2nd of March, so football season was over roughly 3 months ago - how did all those players get so much stronger and faster over
the past 3 months; especially when school was out for about two weeks of that period?  Just curious? ::)

I thought for sure that Jordan Holmes would get MVP, I guess i was wrong. Congratulations to all.
Good Morning Big Girl  :), while Holmes was by far the most "exciting / athletic" player on that roster I personally didn't see him as the MVP on that team let alone in the district. My statement is predicated on the fact that he fouled out ot entirely to many of their "big" games throughout the season, although he was a consistent scorer for the squad I actually felt that D. Thomas was a huge catalyst for them by distributing the basketball out of the post the way that he did which benefited quite a few of his teammates that are now in contention for alot of these forthcoming awards....
In how many games this season did Holmes foul out - either "big" or otherwise?
  9.
Not surprised to see Paige get MVP he played great in all the games I saw them play this year. He couldn't miss a shot against Kelly. He hit one step back three from the free throw line. Kid is athletic and can shoot.
I'm trying to understand your statement about a three from the free throw line.  If he was at the free throw line and stepped back to get to the three point arc . . . that's one giant step for basketball kind.  Less hype and more accuracy, please.

I think 21-3A runner up will have a great shot of making regional tourney next year.

C'mon DV, put your money where that big mouth is. ;) ;D
Maybe in your old age, you have forgotten that Yates returns Swift AND JC Washington next year along with the PG JoJo Anderson....It will be much of the same next year in region 3-3A... 8)
You do realize that 21-3A runner up would not see Swift, Washington, Anderson and the rest of Yates team till Regional finals. That means the runner up would make regional tourney. That is what we are discussing, Hardin County team making regionals.

Should you even be coaching with that ineptness? ;)
Which would explain his success, or lack thereof.
Its OK...I have nothing to prove to either of you about my ability as a coach...Not an issue...I know how much you guys hate me and my success and PRAY that I fail...no big deal, it is what it is... I had not thought about the possibility of DODGING playoff opponents, since that is something that I do not believe in...Let me get back to work here....Have to build on this CONFERENCE TITLE, that we just won, preparing for the conference tourney and NCAA tourney that we will be in here soon....Enjoy your day, and go out and watch your teams baseball and softball games, since basketball is now OVER... ;)
All of us Do not hate you. Your a pretty cool guy in person. I understand you being proud of being "inner city" Not urban cowboys ;D like the rest of us. But just because kids are in a urban environment doesn't mean you cant play some ball. The urban kids put on there shoes just like everyone else. and they can hang with the best of them. Depth you will always have an advantage in. Just because of the sheer numbers you are pulling from. Congrats on your conference title. I didn't know that.
Oh, for sure, DickieV will make sure that everyone knows of the success of his current position.  However, his history isn't that strong.  What are his chances of being on that staff for more than 2 years?  We'll see. 8)

It had plenty to do with race and you know it.  The fact that you know nothing about swimming and/or golf, does not mean nobody cares about it.  All it means is you don't care about it.
I dunno. Its the opportunity of hitting that white ball and not getting arrested.  ;)

Time for some Badsanta BS on this subject.  Everyone knows that he is an avid "player" - just not an avid "PAYER."

What was Brandon's shooting percentage? Free throw percentage? You cant say he was a better shooter if you dont know what Bosha's percentage is. How many steals did he avg per game? In my opinion Zjori is the complete package. Tell me what his flaws are? ( I know he's not perfect). You said that Brandon was a better defender, how many steals did he average? This is the most accurate way to compare two players.
Am I the LAST person on this forum to get
this?  Big girl "used to be" cbousha; Zjori's
aunt.  That makes the attitude totally explainable. ::) :-X
