We all know that a coach definitely has an influence on his team, whether it is the HC, OC, DC, or whatever. These fellas are put in place to motivate, teach, and mentor their teams, just to name a few "hats" they wear. Neumann is a good coach, so is Spell, and they have done a GREAT job with the Bulldogs . Matt had his time at PNG and now it's time for Faircloth. I think Faircloth is going to be GREAT for PNG and from what I am already seeing and hearing, PNG's program is on the rebound and PNG will definitely be back to the quality of team that so many PNG faithful are used too. I look forward to an exciting year and probably one of the BEST MCM's ever. Good luck to ALL the area teams this year! -

He's got a bunch of current fresh/sophs that he's impressed with... lots of em and he wants to take a look. We've said this before, but the current sophs down through this year's 8th grade are loaded with as much talent as Nederland's ever had... time will tell if it translates to Friday nights. But, my two cents is we haven't seen groups stacked together like this since the 99 - 02 season. Good Luck to the Dogs this year, except for that one week ! Ya mean the week we play LCM, Warrior?? : Ah, now, c'mon Yankee....I'm not gonna 'dis any team in our district....I think you know what week I'm talkin bout! ;D -

Winning programs BUILD better athletes and UTILIZE their talent better. That is why they win. Coach Hooks at West Orange and Coach Barbay at Newton are both masters at this. For years I have heard about how Newton year after year "has" better athletes than their competition and implies that they are naturally so. The reason is not "breeding" or genetics. It's in the program that the athletes Newton has are put through. I think West Orange has the same work ethic for their program. Other districts could learn from these two programs. Very well said!!! An athlete will be an athlete no matter what program he is in, but a PROGRAM will make the athlete a better athlete. GOOD POST ! -

With ALL the changes taking place, looks like 20-4A gonna be a tough district next year! Here's an early wish: Hopefully, someone from our neck of the woods will bring home a State Trophy!!! -

That is an INTERESTING question, with no negativity implied. Just curious: What DOES Neumann have coming through his program? -

I agree, I think a lot of it has to do with Dan Hooks and his winning reputation, much like Curtis Barbay at Newton. -
From what I'm hearing from some of the players, Coach Faircloth is ALL about football and workin 'em hard! The "garbage can" idea is a good one!
-
NICE! ;D
-
Hadn't heard that one, Coop!

What matchups would you love too see?

I agree with pngfan1, I dont think Neumann will be able to go back to "years" past to prepare for Faircloth and what he is doing with PNG this year. It's going to be a GREAT MCM, and I can't wait! Added to the fact that it will be played at The Reservation, I'm even more excited! The new field, scoredboard, etc are totally awesome! Again, best of luck to Nederland, except that one week when I hope the Indians will RULE! -

I wouldn't underestimate Coach Faircloth by any means, but its a good thing that you are thinking that way, Penny! And I agree, MCM will be one of the BEST this year and playing at the new Reservation is going to be GREAT! Best of luck to the Dawgs this year! -
Whoever it is, I want to wish LCM the best of luck this year!

PN-G's new coach.... How long will the honeymoon last??
NDNWarrior replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Quote from a Permian faithful in regards to Coach Faircloth. I would say the "honeymoon" is gonna last for a while!!!! Thanks guys. Faircloth is very meticulous and spends inordinate amounts of time game planning. You will be the most and best prepared team in your district each week. He is a master at in game adjustments. Sometimes you will wonder what he's doing and then BAM, you'll find he's just set up the other guys and left you drop jawed along with the guys on the other side. You'll see dozens and dozens of formations when the kids learn them all. Every play in the playbook can be run from any of the formations making scouting by your future opponents difficult at best. The formations he uses one week may not be used at all the following week. He is a master at taking what a defense give him and exploiting their weaknesses. He'll run it down their throats if they give him that or he may pass 50 times in a game if they give him that. We were always VERY balanced. The offense made the last three QB's at Permian school record setters along with providing us the 1st 2000+ yard back in a long time. It's a no huddle most of the time, with the signals given to the QB from the sideline. That alone gives you several more plays per game. More kids get to play because there are personnel packages for each formation and several are used during the game. You guys are gonna like this a bunch, but your opponents won't like it at all. PNG..............Honor..............Pride...............Tradition ! -
I believe it is a combination of both. A coach is a motivator, but along with motivation and success, comes talent. The vice-versa is true as well: you could have a lot of talent, but unless the coach is a motivator and sets the bar for success, then the success is limited.

WOW! Great news for Permian! ;D

Uh, ok......hmmmmm..... ???
