If it comes to us playing Dayton, I think the Butch would be an excellent place to play...there are a LOT of Southeast Texas fans from all area schools that would want to watch that game! Best of Luck to PNG and Dayton this weekend!

WAY TO GO, PNG! CONGRATS!!!! -
There's a reason "Cherokee" begins with the phrase...."Always Be Faithful". Looking at the predictions on this board, seeing so many predict against PNG, thats cool. We over here at the Indian Nation KNOW what are boys are made of and what their capabilities are. PNG will take this game by defeating Manvel and moving on in the playoffs. NEVER underestimate the POWER of an Indian on a WarPath! [move]<----HONOR---PRIDE---TRADITION---PNG INDIANS---<<<[/move] Scalp 'em, Indians, SCALP 'EM!!!

From the PNG site by pngfan66 EXCELLENT analysis of PNG vs. Manvel...one of the BEST posts I have ever read! I would think any D coordinators job would be hell having to defend PNG's O ! I know they will more than likely blitz alot in hopes of catching our back in the backfield or making our QB scramble. Let em I say. We have as many offensive weapons as they do if not more. I personally am sick of hearing about how good everyone is as compared to PNG. We all know PNG had a rough start, but since some changes things have turned around. I don't care about the recognition and I don't think the team does as well. THeir focus is on the game Saturday night. They are hungry and want to win and keep advancing. I truly believe that neither our O or D has peaked yet this year. We saw a glimpse of what our D is capable of in the Central game. I feel the team as a whole is beginning to truly believe in themselves more and more as they win. THey now know they can beat the teams that everyone says is better and win. Its ingrained into their hearts and they believe it now and they are playing above their own levels of expectations. Keep it going boys and keep it in your hearts ! I can't exactly put it down on here in words what I see and feel, but I do truly believe this team can and will beat Manvel and those that follow. Something just seems to be clicking and the team is responding. Guess you could almost use the word destiny ?
I think Chase ought to be able to have a big game this week. When Manvel has played against decent team's, the rb's have fared well. The Lamarque back had over 300 yard's rushing against them. They will also give it up through the air. I have heard from someone who has seen both team's play that we will have our hand's full. He said if our defense can just play close to the way we played against Central then we will be fine. He said that if we pressure the qb's they become very inconsistent throwing the ball. He also said that Manvel will have a tough time stopping our offense but they do have the athlete's to stop us unlike Willis. So I look for another exciting game.
I've heard the same thing about both qb's. When they get pressured, they lose their accuracy and it affects them mentally.
I'm always baffled when I see posts that seem to use this as a defense as to why you may have lost? Do you not honestly believe Manvel or pretty much any other team that's in the playoffs still hasn't vastly improved as well? The officiating excuse is just that...a poor excuse why one's team lost a game. We all have to take our lumps but dont use that as a reason you lost...it makes you look bad as well as a poor sport!
I completely understand that Manvel has improved as well as PNG has. I made reference to a "pre-season" game that seems like people are basing their opinion on. You NEVER saw me make reference to the officiating, now did you? To be in this round of the playoffs, you have to be good. Before you start make accusations about my post, i.e. the officiating excuse, you need to read more carefully...no comment from me on officiating at all.

One thing I know about Coach Brandon Faircloth....the Indians will be "primed" and ready for battle. I love the fact that so many feel Manvel will win....please, keep thinking that...please. I see a lot of reference to the TC game...that was in preseason and a LOT has changed at PNG. These boys are hungry and will take this one. PNG has the BEST coaching staff, athletes, and talent in Texas as far as I'm concerned. PNG wins this one and never looks back! I have no problems with teams meeting at midfield...it really gets the fans into the game. HOWEVER, Saturday night, the Willis team met at midfield, and INTENTIONALLY taunted the Indian Spirit, the PNG players, coaches and fans. This was a deliberate act...total disrespect. Willis got their payback with the late hits, personal fouls during the game. When they came out after halftime, the refs were waiting for them and they didn't taunt. Its a shame that coaches would allow their team to stoop this low....I agree, if PNG EVER did this to another team like the Willis team did to us..I'd leave the game. With that being said, I see no problems with a team meeting at midfield.....just leave the taunting out of it. As a teacher, we work very hard to instill in our students respect, even when things aren't going your way. Taunting, personal attacks, etc. should not be part of high school sports. Just my opinion. Scalp 'em, Indians, SCALP 'EM!

From another thread posted by rollinac. I think this is worth reposting on this thread. Pretty good assessment of Manvel. Re: Manvel vs. Washington updates « Reply #19 on: November 19, 2010, 09:34:34 PM » Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote from: indianforever on November 19, 2010, 08:19:37 PM does manvil have a good defense...give me some scouting reports please Offense - 4 WR no huddle (3 wr 2 RB in the red zone). Fast paced. 4 wr's are all small and really fast. #5 rb is small and fast and the other one is taller and a little bigger physical back type. They rotate QB's every series #7 starts and #8 comes in behind him. Both are tall and athletic...7 is shorter but heavier 6'1" 215 I'd guess and 8 is 6'4" 195 ish. I didn't notice one being any better than the other at really anything. Both throw the ball well and both are quick on the inside. They liked throwing the deep ball especially the post corner from the outside wr in the spread. Inside guys ran underneath routes mostly. It's tough to say if they do this all the time because Washington was playing a 4-3 straight man on the 4 wr with no safety. The 3 LB's were spying the QB and RB (yes all 3). There was little pass rush and both QB moved well in the pocket so why not throw the bomb every play. The wr got behind the cb's just about every time and were on the money on all except 1 slight overthrow (off the fingertips and really shoulda been caught). The RT is HUGE 6'5" 280+ and the rest of the o-line is 200-230. Center is maybe 200. Pass blocking technique was good...made contact early with good footwork across the board. Run blocking was not good as Washington's interior line blew up the straight ahead run. Only successful running plays were QB scrambles and misdirection draw traps (like the one PNG runs where the qb starts to roll right then hands off back to the left on the draw). Defense - Base defense of 4-2-5 and they played cover 3 zone on every play. Flats were wide open as the 2 strong safeties were good athletes but could not cover that much ground. Every pass play Wash ran was a flood roll out so at least they were making some smart play calls. They also got the running game going pretty well. I wasn't very impressed with any of the defensive lineman of Manvel....RE was probably the best pass rusher and they were average size. LB's would shoot the A gaps just about every first down. They missed a lot of tackles but swarmed to the ball and eventually would corral the runner. The 2 CB's were both REALLY good...one pick 6 one fumble return td. Couldn't get much of a read on the FS as he played centerfield 15-20 yards off the line and they never really challenged him. All that being said Manvel was a pretty formidable team. They have athletes everywhere, are well coached, and have what looks like a lot of depth. They rotated so many players that I couldn't tell who the starters really were or if anyone was playing both ways. They've got a lot of players. Defense didn't look as good as the offense. Wasn't a very good read team though as Washington would have had a really tough time beating Baytown Lee....looked like they were drawing up plays in the huddle.
Funny how all those Willis cheapshots came back to bite 'em in the end. The personal foul on #56 for taking a swing at #55 for PNG after he was pancaked on that last drive. How about when the Willis player had the blatant face mask take down of Jalali, wrenching his neck, then stood over him taunting him as he was hurt on the ground. To the guy who stated that Willis had class, I call BS!!! That was the dirtiest team I have seen in a long time! Now on to Manvel.
Yup, you're right. There was some downright dirty plays...even at the beginning of the game when the Willis players were taunting the Indian Spirit & the refs made them move to the sideline. There was no need for what the Willis players did. You're right. It came back and bit them in the butt. I'm glad!
