Vidor ALWAYS plays the dawgz tough. I feel an upset in the making with Vidor being the spoiler and coming away with the win. 

The game is being played in Vidor, correct? So...there will be no "watering down" of the field, as happens when Nederland plays at home, correct?  I still think Vidor will be the spoiler in this game and come away with the WIN in a squeaker!

The Nederland offense isn't averaging 40 points a game. It is averaging 32 points per game, and the bulk of that is skewed by lopsided victories over two of the worst teams in the district (Dayton and Lee) and a 33-point performance against a bad Beaumont United team.
Nederland's offense, if you take out Dayton, Lee, and Beaumont United (that is, if you look at Nederland's offensive performance against the teams on the schedule that are doing well) averages 22 points a game. I'm including WOS, Silsbee, BH, and Santa Fe -- These are teams that are in the mix in their districts.
Tellingly, against potential playoff teams in our district, Nederland averages 24 points.  They are not exactly running people over offensively. They are solid, and they are clearly the favorite in the district, but there are vulnerabilities that Vidor can take advantage of. Vidor is down, but Vidor's offense has been getting on the board.
In games against Crosby, PNG, BH, and Santa Fe (all in the running for playoff spots) Vidor has averaged 28 points per game, which is more than Nederland's average against potential playoff teams. Even if we include Nederland's victories against far weaker teams and take the season average, Vidor's offense is putting up more points than Nederland's (34 vs 32). Further, I think we can all agree that Vidor's district run has so far been against tougher opponents than those faced by Nederland (PNG, Crosby, BH, and Santa Fe, as opposed to Lee, Dayton, BH, and Santa Fe). Against overall tougher competition, Vidor is scoring more. Against common opponents, Vidor is scoring more. 
Granted, Nederland won its games and Vidor lost them. My point is that Vidor is not a pushover and the Pirates will put points on the board. Nederland will have to bring it to keep that perfect record intact. 

I never said the point averages in past games were going to determine who wins in the next game. You're right -- In the end, the only thing that matters is who wins the game. Until then, it doesn't hurt to look at different stats showing the different teams' strengths and weaknesses, particularly when it was a Nederland fan that brought it up. A Nederland fan said, "Look how many points we are scoring" (paraphrased) as evidence of how many points Nederland will put up against Vidor, and I offered some perspective as to why the data is skewed and areas where Vidor may not be as weak as their record looks. So, to the extent that the past performance is indicative of future performance, that "crap" does matter, and it may end up mattering so much that Nederland loses this week. Nederland is not invincible. Vidor has been close to HUGE wins this season. They just might pull one off this week. I certainly hope they do. 
 

I was going to comment to some of these ridiculous posts but I’m going to refrain and just leave with this..............
Support your community your school and team through the ups and downs! Quit making excuses and quit trying to have all the answers! Maybe your kid or these kids you speak of would be focused on the big picture for the team and not themselves! As a fan or parent set a better example! Maybe the excitement you say they lack on the sidelines is cause people are filling their heads with negativity cause BF and crew aren’t playing them! Playing time for Booster Club members kids ....... Keep telling yourself that happens! 
Do we need to improve, certainly! The coaches I’m sure realize that as well! We need to get better each week and be determined to win each week and into the playoffs! Yes everyone wants to beat Nederland but is that the big picture? Is that what makes us a successful team? Nope!
Looking forward to Santa Fe! Those kids are going to come out fighting til the end! It’s going to be another fun week of football!

Well I don’t care if your backups were out... or if your running game was out... it was surely the backup kicker that sealed y’alls fate. Ask yourself, does any of this sound like excuses? Spot us 14 this year and see how that works out for you.

Some reason I like Vidor in this game

Oh my goodness, where to start?  Why not with the first sentence where you said you have a legit question, and then proceed to belittle Vidor.  Accusing Vidor of copying your colors?  Do you know how many schools in Texas use Black & Gold?  Did Liberty copy Ned’s colors?  They’re Black & Gold.  How about Pleasant Grove who won a SC in 4A-II?  They’re Black & Gold.  Whether you believe this or not, the world does not revolve around Nederland.  It’s a nice town, and for the most part good people, but it’s not the center of the universe.  And Vidor copies your traditions?  Sure, yes, well, Vidor is a SC or two behind Ned’s traditions.  Then you go half cocked about band hats - For your information, there’s a thread for area High School Bands.  And as far as rivalries go, had you taken the time to read two post above, I stated, as well as someone earlier, that the rivalry was “tongue in cheek”.  If you’re not familiar with that term, use google.  And as for Vidor being a Nederland wanna-be, where do you get this insane information.  Is Nederland a Port Neches wanna-be?  You really might consider getting out more.  There’s a whole world outside of Nederland, Tx.
And I say that with all due respect to the citizens of Nederland.

Not to get too political but I saw a bumper sticker that said “Beto eats Tacos with a Fork”.  Vote Cruuuuz!!!

Thanks brother it was a hard fought win. Crosby is well coached and their kiddos fight very hard.
