Coach Aggie is reporting Lum-W is out?
shockg replied to Horns46's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
One of the two you mentioned is not a board member and the other one never communicated that to the rest of us that I'm aware of. Maybe the Coaches Rep will have some insight on that.
If one of the people the coach talked to was a board memeber, then the STJFL would have been notified. The coach cannot be expected to hold that board member's hand until he/she notifies the rest of the STJFL governing body. The STJFL board members have duties and responsibilites themselves. If a STJFL board member is notified that one team does not have its player cards, then is the STJFL, by allowing it, declaring the players eligible, since that is what the rule enforces? How would an opposing coach be able to ensure that? Can the STJFL waive eligibility requirements? I'm curious about the reasoning, as it may open up many scenarios where foul play could be allowed (not saying that's the case here). For example, lets say I have a team and I decide to cheat the system. I forgot my book, add a few kids, pull some kids from my local high school team, change LO ot no LO, etc. If an STJFL official is notified that my book is missing, lost, etc., and they let the game continue, then they have declared all my players eligible. (For the record, I wouldn't do it, and I am confident the LumW coaches did not do this either, I'm just opening the scenario to those that could exploit it.) -

Good Questions Coach Aggie. Without taking sides, rules are in place to protect something. MPR is there to protect kids from not being allowed to participate. The safety rule is there to penalize and discourage legal 'cheap shot' hits, but still allow the score. My understanding is the player card rules are there to ensure the players are who they are, and that any LO or OL players can be identified. I accept (begrudgingly) that some rules can be bent, if the integrity and spirit of the rule is not comprimised. Some are hard and fast rules that are never supposed to be broken. An OL kid playing LB should never happen, it is a safety concern. An opposing coach cannot even give permission, or waive, for the other team to allow an OL player on the opposing team to play RB, LB, or any other non-OL position. My question to the STJFL is, can this player card rule be bent, and if so, how and why. Was the spirit of the rule broken in this instance? I have my opinion, but I am trying to be neutral. I want answers. I want the truth. You can't handle the truth. The truth is, we live in a.....sorry kinda went off on a tangent. -
No one violated a rule. The coach waived his rights at the beginning of the game... Just like if a coach signs the MPR sheet and the other team does not play any 10 play kids at all, that coach can't protest that. Simple guys.
As I understood it from previous posts, you were not on the field. I don't know how you know that he waived his rights. Also, I saw the posts that the Bmt coach began in protest, which would protect his rights. I also saw posts that indicated that the Bmt coach agreed to play, if Lum coach produced them at halftime, which was not done. In that case, I think he (bmt coach) did enough to protect his rights. I did not witness what was said. I am looking at this from the outside, on some message board, responding to what anonymous(ish) posters say. I am not trying to make a conclusory statement to the facts, since I was not there to witness what was said. I do not think anyone cheated. I have not heard that was even an issue. What is at issue is the rule. If it was broken, and the league allowed an exception, I would like to know what the decision was and why. Not because I want to attack or applaud it, I just want to know when I can have the exception. When does the rule apply to my team, when does it not. As a coach, what must I do to preserve the rule? -
ROUND 2 SR PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS!
shockg replied to DeuceSixSuited's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
LumB will lay a healthy, but not so severe beating, on PNGW (figuratively, not literally). LumB advances to Super Bowl. PNGP will dominate, ever so slightly, LumW. I think this one will come down to which kids stayed up late to play CoD Black Ops, and which ones stayed up late to play Modern Warfare 3. I'll let you draw conclusions as to which one is better. PNGP moves on to the Super Bowl. Side Predeictions: I predict 13 posts before the topic takes a detour into another realm of discussion. I predict 4 posts before bradyb tells someone they are wrong. I predict 8 posts before someone totally butchers the english language. -

I seem to remember the league coming down pretty hard last year on a Vidor coach for a rules violation. I also remember the league coming down pretty hard on the Port Arthur organization for a rules violation. I remember a couple of years ago WOS having to forfeit a game do to a rules violation. If a rule was violated, the punishment for the rule should be followed. If there is an exception, there needs to be a rule for that exception, otherwise, everyone is an exception. If a rule was violated, I think we are entitled to know why it was not met with the appropriate punishment. Hopefully the STJFL board, not just the president of the STJFL, have an explanation. I tend to agree with some of the posters, its seems like some organizations get away with more 'exceptions'. It may not be the reality, but it is definately the appearance. -
I know this isn’t the wishing well but wouldn’t it be awesome if we could just combine y’alls two teams and our two teams and go at it just to shut up all the doubts and what ifs? I take it that no one sees this as a great compliment that both PNG and Lumberton teams are playing for the belt? Can we just say that it shows good jobs all the way around? It could be an all Lumberton or PNG Superbowl and neither side has ever budged a bit on dogging each other.
This is actually a great idea. Maybe a mid-county madness - Plus. Maybe someone from the STJFL is monitoring so they could actually...maybe....possibly....begin a tradition by allowing an all star contest between the different organizations.

I don't have my prediction yet...but wanted to follow the lines. I'll wait closer to gameday and see what the line is. Good Luck to kids and coaches.
Who you got? BIG SCHOOL 1 Lumberton-B vs 4 PNG-W 2 PNG-P vs 3 Lumberton-W SMALL SCHOOL 1 WOS vs 4 Kountze 2 Bridge City vs 3 Orangefield Winners will play in superbowl!
Seemed to have gotten off topic. Bad News/Good News: Like I predicted last week, PNG-W will not win against Lum B. At least they will not have far to travel in defeat....it's like golf cart distance. I had initially picked Lum W, but after the time they had with Beaumont, I think PNG-P will pull this one out. It will be a close game....but unfortunately for Lum W, a far distance to travel in defeat.....like not golf cart distance. WOS and BC will win the small school division. Kountze is tough...but WOS is WOS, WOS wins. BC kinda tough...Orangefield not kinda tough. Long drive for everyone....car pooling is recommended, but not required.

In my opinion and experience, the stjfl board does not always decide fairly, but they are human. You cannot discuss whether the process is treating you fairly until you go through the process.
They NEVER DO.... They STJFL was at the game, they STJFL let it slide. Call it class by them and the Beaumont Coach, I call it lack of LEADER SHIP!
Who was there from the STJFL? The president? If so, he is a Lumberton coach. I would hope there were other STJFL officials there from a non-participating organization. My understanding of the rules is that BMT needed to declare the forfiet at the time there were no cards. If they tried to, then the game was played, maybe they have an argument. I was not there for it. I know many people attack the stjfl board because they seem to be biased. (sometimes I feel that way, but I'll keep the details of my beliefs out of it). The board consists of people from all organizations. The president is from Lumberton, but the other members are from each organization. As long as the entire stjfl board decides one way (or by majority), then that's the ruling...like it or not. Don't like it, run for your organization's and stjfl's board. Like coaching, it is also a thankless job.

First Round Sr. Predictions?
shockg replied to DeuceSixSuited's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
First...how come my account keeps getting deleted. I finally work the nerve to sign up ...instead of just read everybody's diatribes, but to also voice my opinions in a very respectable way...and every day my account gets deleted. Censorship at its finest I guess. I have messaged the moderators, but I get no explanation. Oh well. Maybe its my predictions. Anywho...here's who I predict... PNG W should beat Vidor. 27-14. Lum W should beat BMT. 20-12 I use should. Go underdogs. And also, moderators/big brother, please do not delete my account. I'll pick your teams to win if it helps.
