Pirates and Raiders usually go hand in hand... that’s ok, no love lost Tiger Girl. -

We had a bad game, first of the season. Has Silsbee ever had one? Good thing you dominated OF and Liberty. Let me know how that WOS game works out for you. I’ll make sure to check in on you after the L, thanks for the concern bud. -

Play the kids that put forth the effort and get the best results. Play them a lot lol, whatever it takes to get the win. We can’t lose another game, screw getting 3rd in this district. That’s would be a disappointment based on expectations. -
We have one, he plays defense. Caught plenty of TDs from peewee through JH to Freshman ball. Once you get to Varsity things change, we don’t throw the ball unless it’s out of a run formation. Ain’t nobody got time for a wide receiver around here, we got tight ends and running backs.

Right, that’s the way we play unfortunately. We do it on purpose I think, it’s a part of the game plan at this point. -

And if it weren’t? That’s all I’m saying, need somebody to at least update every possession. Not necessarily you but you know, somebody. -

An unexpected possibility... a glitch in the matrix perhaps? -

A crappy game by HH and they are likely the DC? I don’t think so, still think Vidor will have something to say about this. Yes I’m salty from tonight’s loss but if recent memory serves me correct, I recall a 3 way tie situation that benefited the Pirates a few years ago. If HH beats Splendora and Vidor beats HH and those are the only losses then what happens? -

This is what we get in back to back posts... it was probably a lot more exciting than that sounds. SETX has got to get a person at these game to update the boards. Give us some semi play by play for the love of football. -

Splendora is going to win the district lol unless their little RB gets hurt. He will carry them to victory with 35 carries a game. -
Thanks TG for blessing us with your presence... I hope you never come to Pirate stadium again lol. Unless you’re watching the Raiders play, so they can have your bad luck vibes.

You almost have to play a goal line look against their shotgun offense to stop the run. I think you have to put the corners on islands and just tell them to man up. Put one safety over the middle, put 4 of your biggest boys on the line of scrimmage. Everybody play stop #22 until they prove they can throw it. I didn’t see any big play receivers and their QB didn’t run at all. It was simply a 1 man show that beat you with the same plays over and over. Why run the same damn defense when it obviously isn’t working? So what if you play a 3-4 make changes, make the other team do something else to beat you. Same thing goes for our offensive play calling, be versatile have the ability to change your game plan if it isn’t working. We could have won that game if we would have done things differently but my aunt would be my uncle if she had a set.

I believe #22 ran the ball 57 times and 50 of the carries were the same play. I’m kidding off course, he’s a good hard runner and can break tackles. We needed more down lineman and size up front but the big boys were on the sideline drinking water.

Even with all that said we can still make noise in district although we need Splendora to lose twice, which I don’t see that happening. Have to play for 2nd place now which hurts your chances in the playoffs. If we can’t get 1st or 2nd who really cares, it’s not that impressive to get 3rd or 4th in this district and you’ll get bounced from the playoffs early. This was the first game I’ve seen us get handled and completely outplayed this year. Missing 2 starters can’t effect you that much, just have to put the right personnel in their place. Which means your biggest and baddest have to play both ways but we don’t do that anymore. The players want to but the coaches don’t, saving them for something I guess. Isn’t it a common occurrence for 4A athletes to play on both sides of the ball?

Ok I have a lot of thoughts to unpack before I move on from this one. You can’t have a 1 man run game with this offense, QB ran great but missing #23 hurt (suited out dnp gimpy I guess). He’s a good strong runner and a good blocker in the run game. They were giving us the pass all night, daring us to throw but early on we stubbornly ran right into the teeth of the defense. Had an open TE (both of them) all night, but only threw a couple times in the first half. We have to hit the open pass of course, need to put some touch on the ball when those guys are running wide open. Missing #55 killed us on defense, but change the scheme. A 4-3 front with some big pluggers in the middle would be much better against Splendora. Make them throw it or they will just hand it to 22 all night. Their QB threw 1 good pass, there rest were not so good and I didn’t see any WRs that can hurt you. We have athletes but they are on the sideline, have to mix some guys in both ways and try to get your best players involved. Put some of your big OLinemen on the defense to stop the run every now and then. We put a DB in the backfield in the 2nd half and he immediately made big plays for the offense. We put some big OL on the Dline in the 2nd half and the defense held them scoreless. Make adjustments and make them quicker, the same old thing is not always going to work and you have to figure that out early on 21-0 is too late.

Kneeling it out 21-14 Splendora final, Pirates fall short at the 20 yard line. Had the right play called but it wasn’t to be, guy on the ground with a blocker on top of him stuck his hands out and tripped him up. Game of inches.
-
Can’t start out like crap and expect to win.
-
A guys blocked into the ground barely trips the QB up in the backfield when the whole outside was open... would have scored there but it’s over.
-
Oh no...
-
QB left got most of it there out at the 18 4th and 3 game time again
-
2nd and 11 beautiful play set up swing pass but the RB can’t handle it 3rd and 11...
