LC-M/IP TOURNAMENT THREAD/Post updates here
Boneyard Boys replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Dude looks just like Tony Romo… but yea Buna is always well prepared and just knows how to play a good brand of team basketball. I’ve always thought he puts his players in the right position and gets them to play their role. -

Didn't they have a full team of Seniors last season, I'm sure this year will be a BIG step backwards for the birds. I gotta make it to some of those Vidor games this year, they have a couple of talented players. But as always, depth and consistency will be a problem for the Pirates. I don't think they will be a pushover in this district, playoffs not likely though. -

I know I'm probably a little late to the party on this, just rounding into basketball form. But did the new WOS coach move on already? -

2021 All-Orange Leader Football Team; LC-M’s Morris MVP
Boneyard Boys replied to Dat Brook's topic in High School Football
I knew it… they always cruitin! But seriously my biggest take away from that article is OF moving back down to 3a next season, they are poised to make some noise. -
Those were the teams I was referring to in my post, that was a really talented group. I knew they had some great regular seasons as well and went 3 rounds deep in the 5a playoffs. They didn’t have the long undefeated streak running up to the end of the season that generated a lot of buzz and comparisons to the 64 team. Those teams, as good as they were, did not win the district title but the 2016 team got a CO-DC (8-2, 7-1) record, also a very good team. If I were to guess I’m sure coach got some COTY votes during those seasons as well.

I think it should be mentioned that Vidor had their best season since 1964. This years 1 loss team had a better regular season than any that came before them in 57 years. Some of those old Pirate squads went deeper in the playoffs and they had more talent in my opinion but they lost some close games. This years team figured out a way to win almost all of their close games. I’m telling you it was almost magical, they pulled some impressive comeback wins out of nowhere. Coming back from a big deficit to steal the game late vs Silsbee. Pulling out a last second TD and 2 point conversion to steal the game vs Jasper. Coming all the way back from an almost insurmountable hole vs Lumberton to steal the win in the 4th quarter. All of those games at home in front of a rowdy and amped up crowd. It was a great season for Coach Mathews and the boys… almost magical.

New Beed Defence does have a certain ring to it PL, I could roll with that. Now If you really want a sick nickname, you just said it. The Head Hunters… but that would probably get banned lickity split.

Vidor's 2021 Jordan Smith Hudl tape.
Boneyard Boys replied to piratevillain's topic in High School Football
All I’m saying is big J showed up big time for 3 years, so many times I watched him step it up and make game changing plays when we needed it. He kept us in the game or set us up for success and he usually saved his best work for late game crucial situations. An impact player, if only they could have figured out how to integrate him into the offense better. In the other kids defense, it’s not really a fair comparison just yet. He could come out, be unblockable and set the world on fire next season. I hope he does… just not when they play the Pirates lol. -

I’d say, although some may not like it. Big kid on the defensive line at LCM good player, has a lot of nice offers. Doesn’t effect the game nearly as much as JS, I’ve watched a lot of their games. He didn’t pop to me, not as much as I expected. He does have a ton of potential, is younger and has more size though. Good prospect, don’t mean to downtown kid but production matters to me. I’m sure he has great stats I’m just saying the handful of games I watched, it wasn’t close. Especially in the head to head matchup, big 99 had a major role in that game. -
You see, it’s that ‘new beed of defence’ since mid October.

Dad gum it… we already decided this about halfway through the season. It is no longer called the Blue D or whatever, it is called the Stampede Defense from here on out. We even cleared it with @powerlifter it was his idea to begin with and he is the ultimate West Orange insider. I even think @Mr. Buddy Garrity can back me up on this one, it shall be known as the WOS Stampede Defense. Since y’all dropped the ‘Chain Gang’ nickname, Vidor took it over we have the Chain Gang Offense now.

Vidor's 2021 Jordan Smith Hudl tape.
Boneyard Boys replied to piratevillain's topic in High School Football
A buck seventy and moving people around like that would be illegal… I think it would break the law of physics lol. Why has Vidor had an outstanding defense the last few seasons, there’s a big part of it right there in the middle. I’ve been lucky enough to be involved with Jordan in sports since he was a little kid. He used to never really know how big and strong he was but he eventually figured it out. I’m going to miss watching that kid play, hopefully he gets a chance to continue his athletic journey somewhere. He deserves a shot, no doubt about it. 🏴☠️ -

Chapel Hill wins in overtime 41-35 I like LCMs chances of winning the region if they are healthy. -

Yes very real chance of that happening if they have Landry healthy. Vidor decided not to play in the first half against them, went down 13-0 at halftime but played much better in the second half. LCM will match up well with them, 2 big plays long runs from their QB killed us. They didn’t have much other than that, stop the speedy QB and you’re good. Kilgore just made a valiant comeback of their own, they scored and are about to go for 2 to tie it up. -

CH just scored, up 8 late on Kilgore. I’m really thinking we coulda had a Vidor vs LCM rematch in the championship game if we hadn’t had pooped the bed. -

Don’t look now but Chapel Hill has made an amazing comeback and is beating Kilgore 28-27 in the 4th quarter. LCM might have a very good shot of winning the region. -

Trying to follow the end of the game on Txn live is a mess but fittingly El Campo missed about 4 tackles that would have stopped LCM short on the big first down run that sealed the game on the final drive. -
