Well this just got interesting Barbers Hill jumped out to an early 14-0 lead but now Vidor has come alive and tied it up thanks to 2 long touchdown runs from Brad Nunez.
I think the boys are going to show up and play well, I also think they will be well represented by the town. I think we usually travel well and I think it’s not that far to the hill. I’m looking for an upset here, I think if there were a line on the game Vidor would be the underdog. I think we play better that way as opposed to the favorite, see Crosby/PNG vs Santa Fe effort. I think a lot.
That’s true, I just watched a video of Barbers Hill, they like to sling it too. We better not try the same soft coverage again, I kept waiting for us to play press man coverage. Make them beat us over the top or run it, anything but what they did to us all night long with the swing passes.
Oh boy all of the sudden our district has turned into the Big 12... I already miss the Central, Ozen, Livingston and Lumbertons that couldn’t pass that well.
I’m worried about this one, if the Pirates show the fight from early season it will be a close game but if the team from last night shows up we’re in big trouble. I’m counting on Coach Mathews having them ready to play so I’ll take Vidor in a nail biter.
Yea we seem to like running the ball at a defense with all 11 men in the box. I’ve always thought we should show more formations to spread the defense out and keep them off balance. At least give them something different to look at and think about so they just can’t pin their ears back and play downhill. Base offense can still be slot-t but why not mix it up some. I’ve seen a tight end split out wide a handful of times and seen them line up with twins left once. Not nearly enough of that in my opinion, I understand in most games what we do works so why go away from it. But when it’s not working so well we have nothing to fall back on and end up keeping our defense on the field the whole game. Too many 3 and outs and not many long sustaining drives. I’d like to see the time of possession for that game, SF controlled the ball and had long drives with their dink and dunk passes.
That’s true but we just need to be proficient in the passes we already throw in our run offense. The plays are there but we just can’t seem to execute them well enough. Imagine if we had confidence in those plays and could actually pass the ball more. They need to work on it because it would be nice to pass the ball on 1st or 2nd down, not just 3rd or 4th and long.
