  1. LCM defense forces a 3 and out. Bears ball at their own 8 after a nice punt.
  2. #7 LCM just broke a nice TD run over the left side. 7-7 8:38 1st qtr
  3. Big huge RB from WC just took one to the house, he’s got wheels. Was that the first play from scrimmage? LCM nearly broke the kick return but got tripped up around midfield. Bears driving, just got a first down. 7-0 WC 1st
  4. The defense has been very solid for several seasons consecutively. Now the offense has been either underwhelming or inconsistent in recent history. This year was better than last season but kind of stalled at the end when we lost our best backs. Too predictable? Yea probably. Don’t pass enough? Yea probably. Crazy that they surprised everyone and threw the ball on every down on the last drive of the season and we were all like wtf… Why didn’t we run it? How do you address the problems above? Well there are plenty of Vidor fans calling for changes and some have made it crystal clear what they want in this very thread.
  5. I’m thinking that’s not too far… be there or be square. What side does Orange County sit on home or visitor?
  6. Go get em Bears, take care of business. Then there’s a glorious matchup with Lindale/El Campo on the horizon.
  7. Yea but what would I do with my thumbs… is suppose I could twiddle them. No but in all seriousness if I’m going to talk into a mic, I have thought about getting into broadcasting. There are opportunities out there for high school football games, just don’t know if I got the chops for it.
  8. Hey if I can update a game from watching it on Texan Live then anything is possible. It takes patience to type play by play in between all the buffering and freeze frames. Sometimes you gotta use your imagination lol you get half the play and guess how it ended but at least they show replays on there.
  9. It worked all season, it was our blueprint, the game plan, our identity and they went away from it in the most urgent time of need. Like someone else said earlier, they really let the defense off the hook with that play calling.
  10. Thumbulator… I’ll have to check into that, keep these babies in tip top shape before the arthritis kicks in. Probably call a few basketball games, that’ll keep the thumbs in motion. Might even challenge any takers to a thumb war here and there. Hitchhike to and from the games, never been scared to thumb a ride. Video games maybe… nah ain’t ever going back to that. Anyways thanks for the thumbs up, I really appreciate it. Good to know some people aren’t thumbing their nose at my posting or giving it the old dislike button. 👎
  11. I’ll be damned if the son of a gun didn’t pull it out again… Coach Mathews fell ill and our other coaches had a brain fart. But seriously Vidor fell into a bad habit of starting out flat in the first half and relying on a second half comeback. I know our offensive style is designed for late game effectiveness but you keep putting yourself in the hole and your not always going to dig yourself out of it. This time we dug our own grave early in the game and buried ourselves at the end. Now it’s all over but the crying, I still think if game day pants had been there we would have found a way to win. Good thing we have a world class dominating basketball program in Vidor to root for now. 🏀
  12. Going to be a good one for sure, now I see why he ran off the other QB and put that kid in.
  13. Yea thanks I’ve seen enough of that kid running wild on us tonight, he singlehanded won the game for them.
  14. Still flabbergasted by this one, gonna take a little while to get over what could have been. All of your best players on offense are your runners, even the QB is at his best when running the ball. You’ve got to put the ball in #1 #26 or #2 hands as a runner in the crucial moments at the end of the game. Live and die with what got you there, asking the QB to execute through the air wasn’t smart. You're putting it all on his shoulders, literally. Not one of those pass plays were even close to working, 1st down covered incomplete, 2nd down sacked, 3rd down low pass incomplete flag illegal man downfield, 4th down overthrown intercepted. None of your best players touched the ball in a meaningful way on the final series in your last drive of the season. Ah well on to next year I guess, just had to let that final complaint go unheard lol. It was a blast doing some play by play on here for you guys and following this special team this season. I only wish it could have lasted a couple more weeks.
  15. You’re right, it’s going to be impossible to find another nose guard like that but the defense as a whole will have almost everyone back. The big guy was one of our only seniors on that side of the ball. Now the offense is losing a lot in the backfield and we have to find a new QB.
  16. It’s true they put in the work in the off-season and it paid off. I’d have loved to seen what they could have done in the playoffs with Seppy and Watson both healthy but that’s football for you. Still should have won this one and went 3 rounds deep without them. As far as next season goes… if we could only find another Jordan Smith.
  17. He did play great, the defense really stepped it up at the end like usual. You could tell they wanted the win, it all set up perfectly for them but the ending. A few breakdowns on long QB touchdown runs killed us, it’s about all they had. Reminiscent of some recent HH games where the quarterback does it all himself.
  18. Even better yet just run the ball out wide and you have a chance to get out of bounds to stop the clock. The outside run was working all night long, I don’t get the sudden decision to pass on 1st and 2nd down with that much time left in the game.
  19. Yep just run it 2-3 times to get a first down, clock stops to move the chains. Come to the line and spike it to kill the clock. Now you’re inside the 15 yard line and have maybe 40-50 seconds with 3 plays left to score. More than likely one of those run plays breaks and you score. Pass should have never been in the conversation unless you’re facing 3rd or 4th and long.
  20. Out of likes but yes I agree. Coach would have made sure the kicking team was ready for the extra point tries and he would have had some input on what to do at the end of the game. Run the dang ball and we win that game in my opinion, plenty of time to punch it in. We have a hurry up run offense that has worked pretty well all season.
  21. Thinking back all that confusion on the extra points and burned timeouts really cost us and likely caused the coaches to panic a little bit at the end of the game. With no way to stop the clock, we got pass happy. Yes you read that right, the Vidor Pirates got pass happy and it cost them the game.
  22. With 2 minutes left at the 25 you’ve got to run the ball a couple of times to set up 3rd and short. If you happen to get a first down it’s stops the clock and you spike the ball. Anything but pass, pass, pass, pass… it’s Vidor we don’t pass it well enough for that to work out favorably. We needed to kill some of that clock anyways, you don’t want to score too quickly and give the ball back to CH with any time left.
