Vidor 7 Huffman-Hargrave 13/Final

1 too many lol it was a first half interception that flipped the game on its head. We had the ball driving deep into HH territory with about a minute before halftime, decided to throw it on 3rd and long. Got picked and almost returned all the way to the house but allowed HH to score just before halftime. Little did we know it would be the last score of the game, if we run it twice there maybe we get a first down and can score but worst case we go to halftime with the game tied 7-7 and our ball coming out. I think we had 1 completion and 2 interceptions one of them was the last second Hail Mary though. We did pick off HH 3 times I think so maybe we can get some picks vs Lumberton. -

That’s what I was thinking, they played a similar strategy. Keep two guys back, guard the edges and keep us from turning the corner outside. Shoot gaps and make plays at opportune times. They basically funneled everything to the middle, kept everything within the tackles and lived with the results. Got a similar outcome too, allowed Vidor to move the ball between the 20s but tightened up in the red zone. -

I still think we beat Lumberton though, our defense looked just fine tonight. Actually played good and got some turnovers via the interception. Pass rush was there all night, Lumberton better bring it in the trenches and block us for 3 seconds or get the ball out quickly. The defense is not banged up at all but we are going to have to find a way to move the ball on offense. Lumberton is not known for their defense usually, so maybe we can get some push against them that we did not get from the offensive line tonight. -

I have to hand it to the Falcons though, we weren’t able to push them around like we have other teams and unlike other teams they did not wear down as the game wore on. Even though we ran a ton of plays at them they hung tough, their defense always gives us problems with their ability to sell out, shoot gaps and make tackles. Plus when you break into the open field you aren’t outrunning their safeties, they keep their QB back there so it shuts down our big play capabilities. -

If Vidor wins I guess would we still have to share dc co champs with LCM but having beat them be the 1 seed. -

Going to have to raid their RBs, hate to be raiding JV but we have to be the raiders and pull out all the stops to beat the Raiders. Going from a good shot at the 1 seed and district title to the 4 seed and 1 and done would be devastating. I don’t want to see that for these boys, they experienced it already last year. -

It seems we lost more running backs tonight than we scored points. I was waiting for them to score right at the end and pull out another miracle win because I’ve seen them do it so many times this season but it wasn’t meant to be tonight. -

Seppy out, possibly for the season if what I heard is true. Rodgers tweaked an ankle and missed time. Little #1 replaced Sep and got knocked out of the game. On the final drive we were using some of our DBs on offense, luckily our fullbacks and QB made it out ok. Hopefully #4 can come back in the next couple of weeks, he’s been out for a couple of games now. -

Same as last years game vs HH in Vidor we had an out of shape crew that couldn’t spot the ball or control the game. Different crew but definitely looked like they should be playing in the beer drinker softball league and not officiating a high school football game. Both close games Vidor lost in similar fashion with questionable reffing at best. -

Wish I could get that clock operators name so I could send him a Christmas card. To be honest the refs really didn’t help him at all but if you’ve ran the clock before you know what to do, stops on first downs to move the chains and set the ball etc. The head official would not signal for crap, the ref on Vidor sideline was trying to signal for stoppage but he was the only one and even when we called a timeout he just kind of stood there signaling. Show some damn pep dude there’s a lot at stake here… run out onto the middle of the field signaling and blowing your whistle like a good official should be doing. They were all acting so chill when we expect them to show some initiative there in the end game scenario. I’ve never seen a clock operator be the direct cause a penalty on the field until tonight. -

That’s what hurts about losing #7 he’s a great runner but the coaches absolutely love the blocking he does when the ball doesn’t go to him. If he’s out for an extended period of time then that will hurt our offense and you saw some of those problems tonight with the run blocking. -

We had plenty of chances to break one and take it to the house but it always seemed like the last guy would make the tackle and get us down. -

How in the world should the refs have to stop the game to correct the clock keeper on almost every single play on the final drive? That’s some janky home cooking crappolla. -

They brought it on senior night, figured they would. Why do we always get the bottom of the barrel referee crews when we play you guys? The clock operator should not be doing high school football games and should be banned from every stadium in the area. Stupid pass and long return was the difference in the game. Oh well, you can’t win them all but you do have to beat Lumberton. -

13-7 Huffman wins Vidor feels it and gets a loss out of their system but now we have to beat Lumberton or things get really crazy. I’m concerned about that and any playoff scenarios with the injuries we suffered tonight. -

Pass deep middle big jump ball overthrown and intercepted not enough air under it to let the receivers get into the end zone -

run to the 32 They run the clock to zeros again while Vidor is trying to call their last timeout These refs and clock operators are the worst late game I’ve seen. -

18 seconds put back on the clock but I don’t see how we have a penalty when the clock should have been stopped they flagged us for a play that should not have been ran -
