Lumberton 24 Huffman-Hargrave 16/Final
Boneyard Boys replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
The outcome of this game could go a long way in determining the 2nd or 3rd playoff spot and I agree with you. Position yourself in the 1st or 2nd spot cause you don’t want to mess with Beasts from the East in the first round. -
Here’s the Jukey McJukerson play, plus an article that mentions the awesome 1964 team, figured you guys would like that. [Hidden Content]

Glad I got the season tickets.
-
The players post good stuff on their Twitter accounts.
-
Watson had a big game on both sides of the ball.
-
I found some highlights, check this play out. That looks like it hurt.
-
It was the play of the week on the local football highlight show, I’m sure you can find it on YouTube.
-
The Vidor fans are going to show up and show out for this Homecoming. It’s always packed every year but this one is going to be extra with an undefeated team. I was pleasantly surprised to see the huge following at the LCM game. The Pirates are building support from the community, if they keep it up it’s going to be a crazy finish to the season. I might even have to travel to HH next week if we get this one.
-
Trust me, I know the feeling brother.
-
They need to worry about baseball season you don’t want to mess that up. Can he throw the football cause that would be a big negative as opposed to the starting quarterback. Does he have receivers to throw to that can catch because that would be a problem if they have stone hands like LCM.
-
Juked so many guys if they all would have went to the house Vidor would have won in a forfeit.
-
Oh ok cause somebody said LCM was ranked #12 in the state last week. Where do they get those rankings at?
-
It’s ok as long as you score 41, I watched the Vidor D give up 50 and get absolutely torched by Silsbee but we scored 51 lol.

Vidor 29 Little Cypress Mauriceville 12/Final

Fair enough, I’m more worried about Vidor taking care of business in the next 2 games. I could see them slipping up but this group of boys has impressed me again and again this season. -
Where do they have Vidor, somewhere in the 20s?
-
All I know is, if you get Livingston in a 4th and 40 punt situation. Do not send punt block, watch out for that damn fake punt quick pass.
-
What’s the situation on the Livingston QB anybody know? That will make a big difference in this game if he’s out. He killed us last year with the rollout pass, they couldn’t block our defensive line but the QB would catch the snap and immediately sprint to the sideline before throwing it downfield. Idk why we didn’t send someone upfield on the edges to contain him.

To get back on topic, don’t want to take over y’all’s game thread. I want to watch Lumberton play, all I have seen is highlights on the news but they look pretty explosive with the passing game. Looks like they have a couple of athletic receivers and a QB that can sling it but I’d like to have a good look at their offensive and defensive lines to make a better judgment on them. I think LCM can be explosive too and they look to have good enough line play to possibly give Ltown problems in the trenches. I look for a shootout here, I’m talking 40+ points for each team. With two passing teams the clock will be stopped a lot, both teams will get plenty of possessions. If I were to set the over/under at 80 points, what would you take?
-
Yep 3 yard runs up the middle don’t look like much but if you give Vidor that then they are going to take it all night long. They have no problem going for it on 4th and short, so you have to defend them for 4 downs. You can tell pretty early on when a team is in trouble, if they get 5+ yards on first down you’re in for a long night.
-
A good pass rush is what helps our secondary out, sometimes those scrambling QBs can give the DBs problems when they extend the play. Last year we had very small, short corners, good players but the jump ball gave them problems. This season we have more size on the outside and I like that. LCM only had a few bad drops but man were they in crucial moments. The one over the middle in the first half could have gone to the house, QB hit him right in stride.
-
Inexperienced but they have stepped up, had a starting safety out vs LCM but didn’t really miss a beat, he should be back next game.
-
What is Lumberton running the spread and actually completing passes this year? I think LCM will take this one in a shootout but I’d like to see Lumberton and Vidor win out to set up a DC title game at Pirate Stadium in the final district game of the season.

Vidor 29 Little Cypress Mauriceville 12/Final

That’s my argument I use when we get big leads we need to play opposite of conventional thinking. Start working on the passing game but we just try to run out the clock and save the pass plays like it’s some big surprise that nobody is going to see coming. I’d show it as much as possible and make defenses have to think about it. -

Probably not. They are going to run into a team with a rock solid D line this year. That’s all it takes, you need some meat on the front and some linebackers that tackle but idk if this district has that so until then we eat. -

Most decorated player for Vidor since Quirante was winning awards on offense and defense. I believe Jordan was Newcomer of the Year in 5a his Sophomore year then Defensive MVP in 4a his Junior season. What’s next one of those WIlly Ray’s for Mr Smith? It would be difficult for a nose tackle to pull that off.
