Matt Pace is an excellent coach, what he said is dead on. Lumberton had three boys playing with the Flu: one starter #1, the sixth man #4, and a freshman that was moved up for depth. But plain and simple Silsbee came to play and beat them.

Congratulations Coach Rideaux!!! You made a big impact in Lumberton last year and this year you led your own team to a playoff spot. I hope they recognize you with coach of the year.

I’ve posted when they win too, look at the Bridge City Lumberton Game at Bridge City. There was nothing to post here. Lumberton blew them out, what other info is there. A game like this needs no info or description. Thanks for think of me though lol. BTW...I won’t be doing a breakdown of the Lumberton - Silsbee game tonight for the same reasons. My apologizes, you are correct. In high school head coaches are restricted from using the coaching box following any technical. In college coaching box limitation are based on the type of technical. It now makes sense why the Lumberton AD came over by the bench to remind the coach to stay seated once. Personally I think the dunk technical is outdated and don’t like the fact he lost the box because of it.

No, He was given the warning in game for coming to far out onto the floor. Coach only has to sit if he or the bench is given a warning or a tech. Not when a player receives one on the floor.

That makes the most sense, I didn’t think that was an ejection technical. I like to see a coach enforcing rules. The refs were tech happy that night. Lumberton Coach got a warning and had to sit most of the game, the BC coach got a tech, one BC player got a tech, and including the dunker 3 Lumberton boys got techs.

Did the kid who dunked get ejected too? He went to the locker room after the tech, then reappeared later sitting behind the team wearing street clothes?

Thats about right. The shooter off the bench was the kid from Evadale they lost him and the point guard was the kid from HJ starter they lost him. The senior post that started and the post off the bench were lost. Plus a senior bench player that rarely played. #4 who was the shooter off the bench is now a starter/6th man. So like said they lost 4 seniors and you are correct they lost another post. But they returned 3 starters, replaced the HJ kid with #4, replaced the starting center with a new senior, replaced their bench center with a freshman, replaced the Evadale boy with Bridgers, and have two seniors on the bench to make up for #4 moving to the starting line up and the 4th senior they lost last year. Overall the 3 returning starters are better this year, especially McClure. #4 is better than than the HJ move in. Bridgers is the leaps and bounds better than anyone they lost. The two new centers are different players than what they lost but they bring the same amount of value to the team. Then the two bench seniors offset #4 to the starting line up and the 4th senior they lost. The team last year was good, Rideaux was influential to their success(this is not meant as a negative shot at Mitchell). But this year’s team is better, yes they only suit up 9. But last year they only played 7 to 8 and suited up 14. This year they only play 7 to 8, the biggest difference is the the talent difference between the 4 primary starters to the bench is greater. But this is because the starters are better than last year’s starters not because the bench isn’t as deep as last year. Again watched every game this year and last, but only my opinion.

Did Lumberton really lose a lot from last year? I thought they only lost 4 seniors. One of which rarely played, one played as a 6th/7th man. The other two were starters but were regularly subbed in and out by Rideaux. This year’s group returned 3 starters, plus the Bridger kid returned to the team, he was a starter at the beginning of last year. The the 5th starter is #4 or a center. #4 played a 7th man role last year but yes the starting center is new and the back up center is only a freshman. But the other two other bench kids were on Varsity last year, one of them was a starter at the beginning of this season prior to Koch(4 year varsity player) coming in after football season. Personally I see a better starting five than last year, now no one on the bench is equal to one of the four primary starters but I do see them being as serviceable as last year’s bench. In my opinion I do think the bench could be utilized differently and optimized. But that said my opinion plus a $1.07 will get you a 99 cent burger from McDonald’s.

Isn’t just the case that Lumberton played very well last night. I read comments that the refs were bad, I’ve never watched a game where the refs are perfect. Terrell Hines is one of the best referees in the area. Didn’t see where the coaches did anything extraordinary nor did the coaches do anything wrong. Both teams played hard, as predicted Silsbee won Lumberton gave them a better game than most people expected. I’ve watched a lot of Lumberton basketball, they haven’t been playing well as of late. But last night they had one of if not the best game of their season, they looked like a different team than I’ve seen all year. If anyone wants to point to the reason Lumberton played well, Brock McClure played one of his best games.

I’ve watched them a lot this year they have the ability to go 7 even 8 deep which is basically what they had last year. Their 7th man hasn’t played in the last two games not sure why, he had been playing and contributing prior.
