Looks like Vidor's defense missed the bus to the game tonight. The Summercreek receivers had 5-8 steps on the defense all night long. Summercreek had no problem scoring almost anytime it wanted. And what about that smashmouth offense? It didn't fool very many Summercreek players. If the defensive linemen missed the ballcarrier, the inside line backers found them, and when Vidor did break free, they were run down, and punished, like the British, French, and Spanish ran down the pirates of history. I guess those "Outer Houston Kids", brought a little more than was expected.
WOW!!! ::) ::)
The real wow was the multiple 60+ yard passes by Summercreek for touchdowns, all on the first play of the possesions!!! -

By Travis Stewart DCTF Managing Editor "Summer Creek vs. Vidor: 7:00 PM Friday, Deer Park Best-in-show: I would say the tenor of this matchup took a drastic turn after Summer Creek really showed its fangs in Week 10 against previously unbeaten Dayton — a 45-7 win, and one that Summer Creek dominated in every single facet of the game. If that’s what Summer Creek (and QB Aaron Sharp) really is, it’s more than just a tough out; it’s a legit title favorite. Vidor, as area fans know, doesn’t just want to run the ball … it has to. That’s the offense: run, run, run. When it works, perfect. When it doesn’t, it leaves the Pirates a little low on options. With that in mind, Summer Creek’s explosive offense is just a really, really bad matchup. Vidor is good enough to play into the third round this year, but it may have drawn the nastiest bear in the woods right off the bat this time. Pick: Summer Creek" -

We still have to remember that SC has not played a player the like of Montana, who along with Collins are the best atheletes of 20-4A or 19-4A. With Montana being my MVP pick of both district, but if SC plays like they played last Friday, it will be interesting to watch. Gotta go with SC though they are well balanced.
You can't keep saying they're the best athletes of 19 or 20-4a. Montana isn't the baseball player Kaleb Denny is and Collins isn't the basketball player Raelon Singleton is. Singleton is bigger and faster than Collins and Denny is more agile and elusive than Quirante. You have to think, the only good team Montana plays qb for over here is BH and Collins would be a true db. Playmaking ability is what stands out in 19-4a, we have athletes everywhere over here, even CE King. Wait 'til Vidor sees Greg Hogan, he's not big on a lot of schools radar but he will be the best receiver Vidor has seen this year, you have to roll coverage to him and then they backdoor you with Ruffin. We have some awesome athletes over here in 19-4a, I think the bi-district matchups are going to show that. I'd never thought I'd say it but Dayton is actually the only team I see with a .500 chance or better of losing.
You are right, Cougar. I know of a girls softball player (pitcher) in 19-4a who is better than any athlete on the Vidor, or SC football teams.(no she doesn't attend SC) She has already been tapped for a Olympic team, and she is only 14 years old. She didn't compete in the Olympics this year, because of her age. She WILL be in Brazil in four years, unless she gets injured. Posters need to qualify their post before clicking the post button. -
I expect this to be a good game. Can't wait to attend. I have watched SC, on film, 3 times, (Dayton, KP, CE KING). A little different team each time. No doubt the Dayton game was their best of the season and they were pumped ready to play. They do appear to be the real deal though. Very fast, big, aggressive and talented. Athletes flying all over the place. What makes this game interesting is how will they handle Vidor's O. Very deceptive with all the misdirection and Vidor runs the O superbly. How will SC line up? Will they use their 3 man front? If they do, I say Vidor will pound out 3 - 6 yards per play. The clock will keep moving as well as the chains. It will get frustrating real quick for the very athletic aggressive team. This is not a game you can rely on speed and reaction. You have to play a location and do it all night. Nearly every play you don't figure out who has the ball until they run by you. I will be rooting for Vidor, but I think SC's size, speed and athletism will out score the Pirates in the end. This could be similar to last years Angleton game. Good luck Pirates. SC 31 - 21
I totally agree. SC has a smart, quick, defense, and a great offense. Overall, The team has little experience in the playoffs. That will keep the game close. -
keep thinking that. 8)
The pass game was weak against Nederland, and almost non-existent against Cypress. It looks like Vidor ran out of steam also at the end of the both the Nederland and Cypress games(although I am sure the second/third string was in for the Cypress game at the end.) Conditioning problems? -

If you look back on my posts, you will see that I have always said SC wins by one touchdown, maybe one field goal(because of SC lack of experience in the playoffs). But, from looking at the Nederland game, Vidor has a few problems that could, or could not, have been fixed by now. -

The Vidor run defense looks like a sieve. If that hasn't been worked on, then Vidor is in trouble. SC can run, and throw, so if Vidor shuts down the pass, here comes multiple run strategies. And it looks like individual player conditioning is lacking. On one of the long pass plays, the Vidor pass defender couldn't jump up for a pass, after running 20 yards. -

Watching the Nederland vs Vidor game now. The Vidor run defense doesn't look strong. And Vidor looks undisciplined. Already have seen pass interference, and multiple offsides penalties. The pass offense of Vidor looks weak also. And Vidor has only attempted a few passes all year? Granted, the Nederland vs Vidor Game was over a month ago, so these problems may have been fixed. -
Unfortunately........that doesn't mean anything......they aren't playing. That's just bragging by association.Sorry SC dad.....your opinion is just biased....hope your SC kid likes smashmouth football.
No one is bragging. A question was asked as to how the players on Summer Creek have been able to play together, and background info was provided on the little league that they played in. Nothing more, nothing less. As for Friday's game, let Vidor bring their smashmouth game, and Vidor will lose because of the excellent run defense that Summer Creek has developed over the last four games. Vidor will be forced to go to the air. If the Vidor offensive line has ANY weakness, Summer Creek linemen WILL get through, and WILL force the quarterback to scramble. The Summer Creek pass defense is good at covering recievers, and making it hard for them to get open. Then look for a lot of sacks, and loss of yardage. If Vidor decides to go to the air, but doesn't have a pinpoint, accurately passing quarterback, and quick receivers, then it will be game over. -
Someone just said they are a fairly new school.....so how exactly havr all these kids played together since such a young age?? I do know these kids from Vidor have done the playing together since youth flag!! With some great coaches along the way.Vidor will always be the underdog!! BUT.....these kids have heart, they listen, and they've got your back!! I just DON'T see this being a blowout unless they get behind through mistales.Good luck to all......but pulling for the Black Pearl ;D
They all played together under little league football. The Humble Area Football League starts tackle football at age 4 or so. The HAFL has produced a number of NFL/MLB players: Aaron Glenn David Boston Jason Glenn Bertrand Berry David Givens Sammy Davis Quentin Griffin Jackie Battle Wilrey Fontenot Michael Bourn Jerrod Johnson Etc. The HAFL always has 500+ players in each season, and most of these players go on to play in HISD middle schools. (supplying 62 new players per school, on average) Summer Creek High is only about 4 years old(Opening in 2009), and there has been only one graduating class. -

The entire school is only a few years old, and the Freshman, and JV programs are still developing. Frankly, JV, and Freshmen football is used to train players for Varsity.(like it has been for all of football history) It seems that Summer Creek freshmen, and JV has more emphasis on teaching the players the varsity play system, and preparing players individually for Varsity, and less emphasis on winning. -

One reason Summer Creek is so good, is because many of the starters began playing at age 4-5 with Humble Area Football League. They have played together for almost 10 years. And they all are only juniors. So next year will be even better. -

I think this will be closer than many are saying. I see Summer Creek winning by a touchdown, or field goal. (Summer Creek kicking game is weak past 15 yards (and overall is weak), but the offense is good at getting the kickers within 15 yards of the end zone.)
