1. I believe Silsbee has gone to regionals in cross country several times in the last 4-5 years. And I don't think any of the basketball players ran cross country. Just imagine if they did!!
 2. So how are the players split up on the Silsbee teams?
 3. I think Devon and Bruce will probably be in different groups. Will be interesting.
 4. Maybe he will come to Silsbee. We need more players!
 5. Gus Tolleson Senior Silsbee. HR vs WOS.
 6. Gus Tolleson / Silsbee senior 1 HR vs. LCM
 7. Gus Tolleson. SR. Silsbee. 1 HR vs Hampshire Fannett
 8. Ryan Kirkindal / Silsbee Sr. 1hr vs Memorial.
 9.
Much ado about nothing anyone should be concerned with.  It's cleared with the Uil.  This is nothing more than what some others in district including HJ and WOS have dealt with in the past.  Time to look forward to the season.
Exactly.....This was all cleared with District 21-3a leaders and the UIL. Let the kid enjoy his Senior season.
 10. I think Farmer Fran and TigerTamer should meet at West Texas BBQ before the Silsbee/HJ game for a good pre-game meal.  ;D
 11.
I thought the 6"9 was from Florida?
No 6'9" transfer to Silsbee. Most kids with that height go to AAA.
 12. I see Reed, Elam , Jackson as definite starters with Hardaway, McCain, Thomas, Grubbs, and Wallace all seeing fairly equal time on the court. That is a pretty solid group. As usual, they will make up for their size with speed.  Once the 6'9" transfer from the Ukraine arrives they will be unstoppable.  ;D
 13. I agree with AAW. HJ should win 4-5 games and compete for the 4th spot.  I I think Orangefield should take third. Now next year may be a different story. Silsbee will lose a lot and will not be as strong next season. But that is next year.
 14. I think Cross Country practice started today.

 16.
Yes, you can when if the talent is there, but you can achieve unbelievable things when everyone is on the same page. If the talent is average or nearly equal to the opponent, coaching can be the difference. A players belief in his coach(es) derives from his communication skills, practice and game organization, evaluation and adaption to player skill sets, his self-discipline and his abillity to hold everyone associated with the program equally accountable for TEAM success. A coach who operates with his ego will abandon the one thing he needs most, his players.
Well, I guess we know where future coaches should attend High School.  ;)
 17. "Colleges have the luxury of seeking players that would fit there program while H.S you get what you get! " ...well...um...huh  ;D
 18.
I believe in strategy and versatility! I am a chess player therefor I approach games openly knowing that some strategies may work on some opponents and not others! Everyone would learn my system because I wouldn't change it year after year but of course it would vary from a half court to an up tempo! Colleges have the luxury of seeking players that would fit there program while H.S you get what you get! If I have speed at each position and good ball handlers then I play to my strengths but you will need to be able to execute a half court game from time to time! If my bigs have the advantage then I must feed them! Well, I still believe that a team can do well with good talent and players and parents who support the coach and work hard for him! To win against equal or better talent, the coach who can recognize how to attack the other teams weakness and make adjustments as needed and players execute, usual can win the big one's! Remember, everyone from the coach, players, parents and fans goal is to win and a divided front can't stand nomatter what offense or defense they run! JMO

Just wondering how the responce to this queation will turn out? I know that talented teams such as Bmt Ozen & Central have coaches that are ridiculed from time to time on there coaching strategies or abilities! In my personal opinion, I believe that if a player buys into a coaches :o program, works hard and believes in them, a player will burst through walls trying to satisfy there coach! Maybe this is how some less talented teams reach great heights when not expected!  JMO what is yours?
I have a question. Lets suppose I have my five starters for next year. The following players all SUPPOSELY have something in common, THEIR SLOW!!! PG: Tyreke Evans SG: Wally Szczerbiak SF: Paul Pierce PF: Glen Davis C: Yao Ming My program historically is  fast break and pressure full court defense. Should I  fit my program to fit my players or should I get my players to buy into my system?

When they get to 2nd round playoffs ( depending on when they face the mighty mighty Jack Yates Lions- representing 3rd Ward) it will once again be a similar conclusion ;D
Don't they represent a lot more than just the 3rd Ward? ;D
>:(  You weren't suppose to advertise this all over the forum. Now Nash is gonna come in with his NBA analysis from 50 years ago.  ;)
If I didn't say it, someone else would have.  ;)

 21. I think the Freshmen group should be very good this year if they are not split up. I have a feeling some of them will be on JV and possibly Varsity.  The Varsity team should have another good season. A District title will be tough again with WOS and HJ both very capable of winning it also.

Who's brilliant idea was this to create a Southeast Texas all-star game for the player's who didn't make the TABC's roster? There are already too many "empty" awards being created/issued out to player's just for the sake of keeping some former coach or AD's names relevant and now this. If the sole purpose of this is to generate scholly funds or one more opportunity for the unsigned to be seen then kudo's but if neither of those two intentions come to fruition exactly what was the purpose for creating this?
There will be four scholarships awarded for the basketball games.
Further description of the 4 scholarships is in order, such as amount of each, duration as in one-time or repetitive, etc.  I don't see this all star game generating a whole big amount of revenue net of expenses. ???
Call me crazy but I don't believe this. My son played in this game and he enjoyed it. I told him from the start it was a privilege to be selected and to go out and have fun although he has no desire to play basketball on the next level. The amount of the scholarship is irrelevant and no my son wasn't the recipient but I'm sure the recipient was grateful. Every bit helps regardless of who you are.
Completely agree
 23. I heard they were going to stop keeping score and make it mandatory for all players on the team to have equal playing time.  ;D
