KB Home has set its sights on several hundred acres along the west side of Lake Houston. The national home builder has purchased 100 acres south of Will Clayton Parkway and is planning to close on nearly 300 more in the coming months, said land broker Chris Hutcheson with McAlister Real Estate. Hutcheson, along with Matt Herring and James Kadlick, represents the seller, Rockspring Capital, in the land sale.Hutcheson said this site is the “last remaining tract of any size along West Lake Houston Parkway not already in developers’ hands.â€The land is north of Summerwood and Generation Park, a 4,000-acre business park expected to house energy-efficient buildings overlooking pedestrian plazas, waterways and landscaped esplanades.
I believe HUM398 mentioned the new community. If it lands where I'm thinking, it should be in SC territory ...but not sure. Currently there's a line somewhere up West Lake Houston that divides AHS and SC.

Maybe it was a bad night for Dayton combined with all the issues you mentioned, but you guys really, really, really looked horrible. It was a critical game (winner takes district). On that night, you guys looked like PNG. -

I gotta see how many from the middle school actually attend SC. I believe there will be some going to Atascocita even though they're zoned form SC. Also, just not seeing where all the explosive growth will come from unless those new homes get filled up with near-high school aged kids. Humble really isn't that big of an area ...and we have THREE high schools. Lets close down Humble HS ...send them to SC ...we'll own any district you put in.
Does math allude you? Lets look at the math here. Let's say that of the 2000 homes the average family size is 4. So we can safely predict that wil be the case with 8000 additional people to the area. (the average family size in this area is actually closer to 5, but we will low ball). of those 8000 people we know that roughly 17% will be from the ages 10-19 (per US Census numbers)...thats 1300+....even if you split that up for a 1/3 going to HS (actually probably closer to little less then half) thats 400+ kids added. But it doesn't stop there....Because that is only 1 developer out of 8 that are building in summer creek. 2-3 years from the completion of these neighborhoods, you are looking at potentially up to 2000+ kid growth. You say it can't happen that fast? Well it happened to Humble in the early 2000's when we went from a mid 2K enrollment to nearly 5k kids. And why would we close Humble down to please you? It should be the other way around. We have more tradition, we have played football for nearly 100 years, and we have produced better teams. lol
The big growth at Humble you mention was the boom in building in Summerwood, Fall Creek, and the other masterplans. Those kids went to Humble awaiting a new AHS. Yes, they're still building and more kids will come, but the building is easily 90% complete. We'll see what pops up when Generation Park gets rolling. You and I both know most of these parents will want to see their kids attend AHS and their tax dollar power should allow them to have their way. SC is currently the hot school for kids around Humble proper and outside Humble ISD. We'll see how it goes. You clearly know ur stuff and have data, but I'm looking at the grey area of the reality of human life.
DemDawgs... I'm not really a sh*% talker, but I understand why you feel the way you do. SC is loaded and knocking on the door. I'm going to side with you on this one. 8 starters returning on offense is a little too much for the competition to contend with. Especially having to deal with Aaron Sharp (3 year starter) as their leader. This kid is about to flat out destroy Region III, NO IF ANDS OR BUTS ABOUT IT! I know... "What about the defense?"... 5 returning starters, but can anybody go blow for blow with that offense for that to be a factor? At least in Region III. Barring injury... SC wins Region III Div1!
Love ur enthusiasm and I believe SC takes district if they get by hard fought games with Crosby and BH. These are games we're really going to need defense. After district, we'll see. We should have a good sense of who this team is after the scrimmage and 1st couple games. Aaron Sharp has improved each year. It's time to put this team on his shoulders and make a positive statement in the playoffs. -

Am curious to see if Ned can muster any offense this year. If their offense improves they could be scary. I assume Ned is well coached too. My biggest knocks on Ned is they don't seem to be good defending the pass and they don't score a lot of points. If they face an offense w/ the ability to throw and score quickly, sounds like certain death for Ned. They're not gonna win a shoot out (if their team this year is similar to last year).
I'm talking into the playoffs. I got 66 points for Ned. Opponents = 74. Also, they only scored 21 on DAYTON. They had to be resting starters.
Also another game i attended. NED only needed to score 21, they played field-position the whole game and as soon as Dayton made a mistake they capitalized on it. It was a classic Nederland playoff win, run clock and play field position and as soon the opponent panics and makes a mistake capitalize on it.
I hear ya, but why take your time...really? Ned should have been able to run up and down the field on those guys. I can see playing a more conservative game against a Pearland ...but when you have every advantage, just blow them out.
Depends on the gameplan, I for one wouldnt want to get into a track-meet with Dayton once they get going on offense based on their past history. Blowing teams out is not in NED's pedigree but if you allow them to then they will take advantage of your mistakes thus blowing you out potentially (i've seen it before) .
Guess it's best to play your own style. Luckily this isn't college and the BCS. Although Ned got the win, it made them look weak IMO. I know you and others get on the SC for being over-rated/hyped, but last year's Dayton team took the cake. -
I'm talking into the playoffs. I got 66 points for Ned. Opponents = 74. Also, they only scored 21 on DAYTON. They had to be resting starters.
Our offense was not meant to put 50 on the board each week. It was meant to drain the clock, keep the defense off the field, and wear out the opposing defense. You don't need to average 50 a game to be a good offense. Our "bad" offense went to the 4th round while SC "amazing" offense only went two.
I understand ball control ...it works until you run into a team that can score quick. You end up being too slow to respond. Your long scoring drives end up being a negative for your team. I think this was proven in the SC vs. Vidor game and SC vs BH.
it all depends. if I can run and control the clock (without turnovers and having scoring drives)and stop your quick score offense twice(for good measure)then I am going to win. the fact that you may have scored on 1 or 2 plays on a couple other drives does not matter. I have the lead and own the clock. you (as you say your coaches were in the g-town game) are in panic mode and will make mistakes which funnel down to the players. example: Vidor-v-Crosby 2011.
Will agree ...but the lynch pin is stopping some of those quick drives. A high powered offense seemed to beat the ball control guys last year. When those quick score guys get a good lead, it forces the ball control team to play out of their comfort zone. In the SC vs. Vidor game ...it got to a point where Vidor HAD to pass. They tried to use surprise on side kicks to give them momentum. Some effective passing would have done the same. SC's defense was so perplexed by Vidor's run game, some successful passing would have been really devastating. Our DB's cheated up all game. -

Garrity, I know that was a sarcastic remark, but not sure if you really mean we had a lot of players or not. IMO, we had some horses to spare ...to a point. Our JV was pretty dismal and didn't get much attention. There might have been some depth to be found there. -
Don't think Aledo is too high. Lost last year to Guyer and bring back a junior RB that is almost as good as Gray. If they go Division 2 they'll be the favorites. Division 1, same as last year. 2nd round for the title.
I actually think Cedar Park is the favorite in D2 rather Aledo goes or not. 16 returning starters from a state title team. IMO Cedar Park would have beaten Guyer. WF Ryder is high, Marshall and Dawson are low on the poll. I think Dawson is top 5 when the AP poll comes out though.
I don't think Cedar Park would have beaten Guyer last year, I think they would this upcoming season if they played. I think Aledo is top 10, just not #3. Dawson is just a wee bit overrated, they have they players to win it all its just that they played too sloppy last season and a few of the players would throw tantrums when something didn't go their way. If they can tighten things up next season then I don't think anyone in 4a will be able to stop them.
IDK, Guyer was blown out twice last year while Cedar Park's two 5a losses were to semi-finalist austint westlake and and 3 point loss to abeliene cooper who has one of the most dynamic players in the state in lorenzo joe. i think cedar park is the katy of 4a, they can win d1 or d2 title. no way to ever know but i think cedar park would have gotten them. dawson has the most starters in the district coming back from playoff teams to i think they the favorites to represent region 3 in d1.
shhhhh! your gonna upset demdawgs. ;D
Vidor just needs to worry about beating Nederland. Sounding highly unlikely ...but am pulling for you guys. Vidor definitely gets the heart award. Any team with kids the size of most middle schools that can still compete gets a big pat on the back. I'm gonna trash talk as much as I can this year ...but SC needs to prove they can beat teams like Aledo, Cedar Creek, Guyer, etc.
Georgetown, Magnolia West..
This year's GT is no prob ...I'm curious to see if they go the same route as Humble. MW ate up a weak inexperienced SC defense on the ground.
dude, we ate up your defense on the ground. had we not turned it over 6 times, who knows.
Yep ...moved the ball well ...but that's also about playing hide and seek with the football too. It's not like you had 3 guys that you could put in the I-formation and dominate. You owned the ground and SC owned the air. Our passing attack was too much, plain and simple. Also, you have to cancel some of those turnovers because you got a couple extra drives due to successful onside kicks (was impressed with the aggressive play calling btw).
i'm just making the point that your defense wasn't good enough to win a title. you blame the d for MW and I'm saying it didn't help you this past season either. you blame enrollment #'s, but in reality, it was the defense. I think you know this. and yes, we had no answer for your passing game. in fact we knew it was going to be the difference before hand. we needed to play mistake free and keep Sharp on the sideline but it didn't work out that way.
You're right about the defense. They played a bend-but-don't-break style. I don't recall seeing too many sacks during the year. I also don't recall a game where our defense would get the game ball ...but they did make some key plays from time to time. Crosby game stands out well. We had a key stop on 4th and short on our side of the field. Also had an INT in the endzone which was a back breaker. SC defense is going to be a HUGE indicator this year. We have about 3 proven stand out players and a couple more that "should" be stand outs. Really not seeing any big D lineman and that worries me.
I would think you move some of them D1 studs off the O side of the ball and put them at DBs or Safety... maybe 1 of the 5 or 6 at RB and move them to LBs... its about team play... and a decent WR makes for a hell of a DB most of the time... a 2nd or 3rd string RB makes a great LB...
That's coaching...right? I did see Ford move one WR to DB and he turned out to be a decent cover corner. I really don't recall any guys playing both ways on SC. Would have been interesting to see how some of those guys would have done on the opposite side of the ball. Aldridge may have been an awesome LB. He didn't run too much as we all know. He had energy to burn. During the regular season we really didn't need anyone to play both ways, but agree it would have been a smart move to try guys in different spots. It may of helped extend the playoff run. -
in your original statement you said first 3/4 season games so I assumed you were talking about the season. everyone knows the season stats don't mean jack in the playoffs. you are facing teams that you aren't used to and therefore game plans change. when plans change so do stats. sometimes for the good and sometimes for the bad. example:SC aired it out successfully all the way through round one. according to you, running more against G-town may have been the better game plan. so, one could say SC's offense fell off that game because the offense never was adjusted to play in the game they were in. what worked last week may not work this week. and sometimes, there is nothing you can do. the other team is just simply better in all aspects of the game. but any way you paint it, a win is a win and a loss is a loss.
I hear ya ...and you bring me to one of my knocks on Coach Ford. I love the guy, but he's gotta prove he can coach the team to a win by adjusting quickly and not just trying to throw his way out of trouble. He had a stud power runner in Aldridge. He needed more touches. Also, our offense was pretty predictable. It basically came down WR's out running DB's to a spot or down the sideline. Can't make a living on that in the post season as we found out. Some of the best games I've seen from SC were when they stayed balanced. We've yet to have a dominant defense ...but will be exciting when that day comes (it better be this year and next year!) -
Don't think Aledo is too high.

So.. averaging 30 points per game in 2012 no longer qualifies you as "scoring a lot of points"? ???
They did score well during the the first 3/4 of the season. I stand corrected. They slowed down significantly during the last four games. Did a key player get hurt?
their last 4 season games saw a combined 165 pts scored and only 26 allowed.
Don't think Aledo is too high.

SC is the favorites in Region 3 D1, the favorites to get knocked out 1st round again. Them "local world beaters in their own mind from SC" will not get out the 1st round of the playoffs for the foreseeable future (including this yr along with the 2 yrs after re-alignment) ;)
Those 1st and 2nd rounds are just as much about the luck of the draw as skill. Had Ned or any other team in GT's path got GT 1st ...they're one and done. Had Vidor lined up with a team like Tomball, Livingston, or a few others, they're onto the 2nd round. Had Vidor got Ned in the 2nd round, its a toss up. Vidor played those guys close and anything could happen in a rematch. Ned could have been gone in round one or two ...but they drew favorable opponents. SC could have been on to round three had they lined up against Angleton or Ned in the 2nd round. I'm still not sold on the realignment. It will amaze me to see SC get anywhere near 3,000 kids any time soon. Just don't see it. Humble/Atascocita WAS booming, but this has slowed down. Another big community needs to pop up or some AHS kids will need to get zoned to SC AND they'll have to actually attend SC.

So.. averaging 30 points per game in 2012 no longer qualifies you as "scoring a lot of points"? ???
They did score well during the the first 3/4 of the season. I stand corrected. They slowed down significantly during the last four games. Did a key player get hurt?
their last 4 season games saw a combined 165 pts scored and only 26 allowed.
I'm talking into the playoffs. I got 66 points for Ned. Opponents = 74. Also, they only scored 21 on DAYTON. They had to be resting starters.
