SC's defense would have been in HUGE trouble vs Guyer ...BUT they did show an ability to stop speedy QB's (Walter). Guyer made GTown look really bad. -

His 190lbs shows in the footage. Sharp looks faster, but likes being a pocket passer. Had he used his feet more in the GTown game, could have changed the outcome. -

Not too many fans showed up on their side and Vidor's side was pretty darn full. Then again, they "think" their enrollment is less than 1400...... ;D
Not many SummerCreek Fans showed up, because many SC fans have more things going on in our lives that are just as important, or more so, as high school football. The SummerCreek area has a lot of business owners, and Oil company upper management/Fortune 500 middle/upper managers that live there, and do have the time to rabidly attend the games. I personally was in Rio De Janeiro/Brazil during that game, and I am not going to re-schedule a important business trip for a high school playoff game.
Aaron is dealing with the same thing as Johnny Football. He wants to be a Longhorn but they already have a commitment from the top qb in the state and in my opinion from watching the film the 2nd best dual threat in the country behind deshawn watson. Sharp plays the game well from the head up and moves well but he's a little thin and arm strength could be an issue in a vertical passing game. He runs well and is fast but he's not a natural runner like Heard who rushed and passed for over 2000 yards. Heard also has a cannon attached to his shoulder where Sharp's strength is accuracy instead. If he's worried about committing to Baylor because of Randall Cunningham who has never even thrown for a 1000 yards he'll really be looking over his shoulder because UT is usually going to get the best qb that stays in-stat. Over street was never going to play qb either, they just didn't want him to go to Michigan so they told him he would get a shot. Connor Brewer was the number one qb in the country before the all American game and will never take a snap at Texas.
I understand all that. But Sharp deserves that same chance they gave Overstreet in my opinion. The only reason I can think of that they aren't recruiting him at Qb is because they have a lot of Qb's on the roster. I know Texas really likes him as an athlete so why not find a way to get him on the team? Sharp supposedly isnt against playing a different position if he doesn't make it as a Qb.
Will agree with Cougar14 in that Sharp is on the thin side. He reminds me of a Randall Cunningham of the Philadelphia Eaglels. Similar builds, but Randall fo sho had a canon on him and he was accurate AND he could run (the original dual threat QB IMO). I'd be worried about Aaron taking a full on hit from a D1 monster. He could definitely stand to bulk up. I'd highly recommend a personal trainer (Athletic Republic in Atascocita is an excellent spot). That aside, I was betting on him choosing Baylor. Regardless, its nice to have options. -
One thing we all know for certain, no one is talking about Kingwood, Atascocita, Kingwood Park, or Humble (except for when losing comes up) right now. All eyes are on SUMMER CREEK.
D@mn, this is getting embarrassing. Kind of like shooting fish in a barrel. River Oaks - ever hear of that area? Median household income: $90K. You saying SC's median income is almost 75% higher than RO"s? In any case, you probably meant "mean" income, not median. RO's mean income is $173K. [Hidden Content] SC's attendance zone is zips 77396 and 77044. Mean for those is around $77K. By comparison, Katy's mean income is over $120K. They've been known to bring a fan or two to games despite their high-powered and wealthy residents. So not sure there is such a correlation between high income and low football attendance.
That River Oaks # has to be skewed by some other neighborhoods. I'd imagine Summerwood would be in the 55K range -

I thought Summer Creek was only filled with janitors, fast food workers and ditch diggers. ::)
Per the Census Bureau figures, median household income of the SC area is $150,700.
That number seems awfully high considering 51% of the students at SC are economically disadvantaged.
The master plan communities where Summer Creek derives its name is SUMMERwood and FallCREEK. Both communities have high median incomes. Fall Creek has a PGA golf course. Summerwood is full of big ballers like me :-) SC also has some low income neighborhoods zoned to the school. The school will be a nice mix of demographics as the community matures. I believe there's a lot of families w/ young kids currently. -

Texas has some of the most incredible high school football stadiums in the country. I grew up in the northeast and attended an affluent public school (same school that Texan's QB attended). Our varsity field looks like the JV fields in Texas. When you look at stadiums like Turner, Deer Park, Woodlands and others ...are they over-the-top dollar-wise for high school? After seeing the size & atmosphere of Texas high school football stadiums, its no wonder our kids are ready for the college ranks. I dare say some colleges see LESS people at games than our high schools. Interesting article on Allen Stadium. $60 Million!!! [Hidden Content] ]

What are your thoughts on the salaries of coaches in our region? Do you think they're over-paid or under-paid? Some coaches make double a teacher's salary. The pressure to win seems pretty intense. Could we someday see 200, 300, 500K salaries for top programs? Are some already getting this through an incentive program? Also, what about the players? The same issue exists in high school as with college, there's some serious money being made on Friday nights thanks to the talent that's on the field. At least college athletes get a paid education. Public high schools are paid for by the tax payers. Should the kids get some education funds set aside for use at the next level?
