1. The wandering has taken some interesting turns ...it made for spirited conversation. I agree with not bashing individual players ...but TEAMS should be able to take some hits.
 2. Humble was horrible last year.  The last decent year Humble had was after their 5A drop 4A (see GTown as well for inherent advantage after dropping down).  We'll see if Humble can hang this year. Last year's squad was weak.

It was very obvious during the Magnolia West playoff game (although Aaron was young). It showed up again in the GTown game. Aaron does better when he tucks the ball and runs when the heat comes.
I agree he did seemed a little rattled during the Gtown game, I felt he forced a couple of passes when he should have tucked and ran. I think the coaches should have called the same game plan for him like they did vs Vidor, and that was more designed run plays, remember Sharp is not your QB that's gonna take off and run after the first read is not there...but I wouldn't say when he's pressured he struggles, he's one of the most poised QBs in district....I believe next year he will run more because he will need to....he's been playing as a Freshman and never had a solid O line
I thought the 2011 oline was pretty good
Nope. We had an okay center and an okay LT, we never had a solid line....
I guess my memory is a bit fuzzy, I don't recall Sharp having to run for his life as often behind that line.
He didn't run for his life, but some of that is a factor of getting the ball out quick to receivers that could get open.  Also, I gotta believe some d lines were worried about Aaron's speed and feet when pursuing.  If you over pursue, you're in trouble.  I can't imagine any defensive ends enjoyed meeting KeeVonn Aldrige in the backfield either.  I agree with SummerCreekIsIt...Sharp hasn't had a complete Oline yet.

SC has a loosing record in playoff games (1-2). That doesn't sound very relevant. Manvel and Dawson were a combined 9-3 in playoff games after their first three varsity seasons. After four seasons they were a combined 18-5 in playoff games and had won three region titles between them. Now THAT is relevant! Different years and different kids.  We'd have to look at the strength of competition those years as well.  No shame in losing to the team that eventually went to Jerry land.  Now had we lost to ANY of the remaining field of competitors ...then I'd be feeling different right now. Until SC can get a winning record in the post season they are just puppies nipping at the BIG DOGS heals!
wow, it got awfully quiet in here! :D
5.
BH or Crosby
I really need to see how SC comes out this year.  I know I'm the consumate homer and trash talker, but I had no idea SC was going to be as good as they were last year.  The year before was a surprise too.  So, this year's team could show up even better with more kids that surprise me with their play. On the flip side, they could lay an egg too.  Last year's team had a personality and chemistry.  We lost some key big time players (Greg Hogan, KeVonn Aldrige...), but we have some others in the pipeline like Sydney Holt-Washington and Torrey Johnson (who has been incredible since his sophmore year). Duente Chapman is looking to have a stellar year too. Our defense is a BIG "if" ...last year's defense was good ...more of a bend but don't break style of defense.  They definitely weren't a defense like Nederland's.  Those guys where the kind of defense that kept their offense in the game.  Dakota Allen will be in his senior year.  I believe everyone is expecting a HUGE year from him.  He'll definitely be the captain.  Really hoping for some new guys to step up and surprise the district.
Yeah, there's a big question mark hovering over the defense.  SC graduated three DB's as well.  SC can only out score opponents for so long. Eventually the defense will need to hold up.
Yeah I'd say there is more than a question mark. When your team has the worse pass defense in your district and you graduate 3 DB's I'd definitely be really worried.
Can't argue. One bright spot is their returning safety.  We must develop a solid pass rush. GTown's QB (the guy that played in 5A the year before) had all day to pass. Don't recall him hitting the ground once.
 10.
Dayton was 9-2 with their 2 losses against 2 of the top 10 teams in the state. For most teams that would be a great season. That was also with almost all our skill position players being sophmores. I just dont see a drop off this year. Not to mention dayton will have the best nose guard they have had in several years which is very important with the 3-4 they run.
One big issue for Dayton is this year they must come to the million dollar field at Turner aka district title town n face 25,000 screaming faithful bulldog fans. The atmosphere and The Greatest Show on Turf will be too much for the young Dayton squad.
 11.
It was a toss up between the ant hill and SC... i just feel that SC's vertical game will be what gets them the DC this year... from reading on here about the 19-4A teams there will be a lot of young teams and them two seem to be the front runners with the most returning talent....  Never Count out them Broncos ... they will sneak up and bite you when your not looking...
SC's defense is a big question mark. Could be trouble if SC can't roll up points.

 14. Thx for clarifying. Man, Dayton looked horrible against SC.  Maybe they had a bad night.  Conversely, Crosby looked solid. That game really came down to a couple plays. The 1st is an SC stop deep in SC territory on 4th down. Crosby went for it n didn't make it. The 2nd was an INT in the endzone by SC. Also, I believe Crosby had a receiver that dropped balls all night. I think one was in the endzone.
 15. No way.  This school is not jumping up in enrollment by 900 kids!
 16. Naw... MW was a more talented team than SC that year.  Conversely, Dayton wasn't more talented than Crosby.

Talent is one thing, buying into a program is completely another. Just because you're dedicated and operate as one doesn't mean you have a bunch of talent. Katy is good because they can their kids close to the ceiling while they're still in high school. You ask the UT recruiter who he's taking and it's going to be the kid from North Shore 9 out of 10 times strictly because he's more TALENTED, not because he bought into a program last year. North Shore doesn't highlight anybody, that's why you don't know who half their kids are until they sign with Alabama or UT. Besides Bobby Reid there hasn't been a feature player at North Shore since Tiki Hardeman. The backs split carries, the qb usually gets a scholarship as an "athlete" and they hardly throw to the receivers which are often D1 recruits. Katy is going to play mistake free and out execute you, that's discipline not talent. There's D1 recruits from North Shore who've barely started so how are they being highlighted? If anybody highlights players it's Katy. That's why you can't tell me the name of North Shore's backs but I can name you all of Katy's. They give it to them 25 times a game and they get a bunch of yards and accolades which is the definition of highlighting a player, see Dean, Young and Taylor. Most years the rb is the only player you can name off Katy's team. I guess Nick Saban and Mack Brown are idiots though since they take the kids from North Shore over Katy. Don't mistake being coachable or playing in a good system for having talent or upside because they're two completely different things as you can see every year on signing day.
man your funny. I bet i used to ball on you at greenwood park.
I have no idea what you're talking about and why am I funny? We used to play on Wade in McNair and MacArthur parks. I doubt you could ever beat me at anything Bronco. I'm talking anything athletic at all, even ping pong and golf. I'm thirty years old and still catching alley oops and getting 20 a night in our work league which is actually pretty competitive and full of ex college hoopsters. Your mouth is going to write a check your a*& can't cash. You can kill me on Crosby and Dayton all day but this really ain't what you want. I'll make sure my little Cougar14 drops the hammer on Dayton extra hard next year just for you.
Speaking of Crosby vs Dayton ...how'd Crosby lose to Dayton last year?  I'm still amazed those guys got 9 wins.  Crosby seemed like the better of the two teams talent-wise.  Did this come down to coaching?

 20.
Deunte Chatman of Summer Creek will make a big difference in the offense for SC.He is very versatile and very hard-working.I think he should play linebacker instead of running because that will probably be his position in college but he is athletic enough to handle running back.He just got invited to the Rivals.com Underclassmen Challenge in Dallas,Texas in July and Rivals has him rated #23 prospect in Texas for the class of 2015.
Hold on ..."DChatman2008" is stating that D Chaptman will be great ...IS THIS DEUNTE?!  You left out that he's the most handsome guy in the school and is a perfect angel ...lol. I saw you ...I mean, Deunte at the spring ball game.  He had a great game and looks like a BEAST.  Should give lots of teams trouble.  I agree about the move to linebacker as well ...but we have some depth there (not sure if its enough).  We definitely need his help at RB as SC likes to use RB by committee.
Overachieved by winning ONE playoff game?  ::)
That's a great percentage in 3 years of Varsity play.  2 District championships in 3 years is an even better percentage. You're gonna be an SC fan this season.  I'm determined to bring you over.
 24.

Interesting perspective ...the list of recruits from NS over the recent years can't be denied.  This plays to your point re: coaching.  But then look at Katy (Katy HS, not the entire district).  They have stellar coaching but seem short on D1 prospects.  I guess the answer is coaching AND talent ...but sure seems like talent wins over coaching in terms of recruiting.
It does.  However, i think its rather stupid to rate talent level based on how many kids get d1 offers.  That speaks to the hard work of the individual, parents, and his head coach that marketed him then it speaks about availability of talent.  If i have the best tool in the world, and have no idea how to apply it to accomplish a purpose....it doesn't matter how great the tool is.  Some coaches focus on individual talent application, other adopt the one heart one beat mentality .  At this level the later produces better results for the team, the previous better for a single player.  North Shore will highlight a player as a center piece, Katy will just insert pieces.  to behave however that this somehow means the talent is less then NS is ridiculous.  anyone that see's Katy play, knows they are not only physically talented....but they operate as a single organism.  Its truly beautiful to watch, there is not a finer program in all the country. North Shore kids will tell you that playing Katy is like nothing they have ever done before.  The coaches will tell you its the most difficult team they ever had to prepare for.  Every team, who has ever played Katy...win or lose will sing nothing but praises about them.    In fact, later in life the players will tell stories about the times they got their rear ends handed to them by the boys from west of Houston or brag that their were one of the very few that every beat Katy. Katy doesn't have a ton of d1 success or NFL success, but those kids can ball nonetheless.    Katy is a superior program to NS in ever facet except how many kids get full scholarships.  One of the most important aspects, is that they produce winners in every aspect of life at Katy.    Excellence is Tradition is their motto, and it extends and permeates far past the gridiron.
I'm with you on this to a point.  I guess it's all about the end game.  If the goal is producing outstanding student athletes with good character, then yes Katy is consistantly meeting the goal.  Others might argue that producing college recruits (which usually come with a full or partial ride) is the goal or a sign of success.  For others it just comes down to winning year in and year out. Cougar14 has a point about NS talent ...but may want to qualify it by stating INDIVIDUAL talent.  Katy certainly has TEAM talent.
