  1. Has anyone thought there might be a legit reason that the media has not gotten a hold of yet that Strong has fond out through back ground checks is the reason this kid is being reevaluated? He may be a 4 star commit but may have some issues of some sort. I don't think Strong would just pull an offer from a 4 star recruit just to pull it. He has some sort of reason.
  2. Manziel looked great today. Now let's see what he is like with a 260-280 lb. DE that runs a 4.5 is barrelling down on him and a 250-260 lb. LB that runs a 4.4 is coming after him. All he proved today is he can throw a football. Tebow did the same thing but when it came to nut cutting time he went back to his old ways. If he last more the three years in the league I will be surprised. Plus, now he will have more freedom then he had after Sumlin put the clamps on him. Let's see just how mature he has become.
  3. I am a huge college fan but this ruling is ridiculous. I say if they want to be considered employees of the college then they need to see what it is like to be in the work force. Go ahead and pay these kids but, cut back on the scholarship percentage and let them see what it's like to be a working man and pay for what you want......I believe an athlete that gets his tuition paid for and stays in the athlete's dorms with meals is enough for these kids. If they want spending money then let them work in the offseason and learn to save......receiving a scholarship to a college is an honor not a priveledge. Some kids now days are so spoiled they don't appreciate what is given to them, all they want is more. This is going to hurt college sports a whole lot more then help it. Big schools will even suffer in the long run. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Look what happened to the NFL since the union came in. It created a lot of greedy men who are basically playing for the money and not for the passion of the game like it should be. Same will happen in college....Just wait.
  4. That for sure just killed a lot of brackets.
  5. Louisville.
  6. Texas & LSU
  7. Are any other words that refer to other races.
  8. What about when they throw the words cracker, honkey are words that refer to whites? They going to penalize that too?
  9. Now he will start throwing game winning passes for the Cowboys.
  10. Let them keep begging for him. When he turns out to be another highly praised overrated first round flop it will be the David Carr show all over again. J.J. Watt and A. Johnson will not put up with his immaturity.
  11. It's Bost. The kid is a very good athlete and gets it honestly.
  12. Game time is 7:00.
  13. If Kevin Lane puts in he has a good shot at getting it.
  14. Yep!!! : ;D ;D ;D
  15. +1 tradinup. So true. That's how half our Tee-Ball team was picked.......Now to the one who asked the question.......Money goes a long way.
  16. I think it is their youth league coaches that are in the mix. ;D ;)
  17. They're following the yellow brick road  ;D
  18. The slider my kid throws is not hard on the arm. it is all about the position of his fingers and his release. No tourque on the arm at all. And it is nasty when he throws it for a 12 yr. old. And it is a true slider. Just not thrown the way most are use to seeing it. Learned it from San Diego Padres pitching coach.
  19. My son is 12 and his two select coaches, who have pitched professionally, have taught him a slider and change-up and he has been very effective with those two. If he can keep getting by with these I don't really care if he learns how to throw a curve. Pitching is all about hitting a spot and keeping hitters off balance. You don't need a curve to do that.
  20. How did this go from a PNG vs Georgetown baseball playoff matchup to a Nederland basketball discussion?
  21. As I have said in a previous thread, these big power house schools are down simply because of the way scholarships are divided up. A lot of top notch athletes that these colleges used to pull in are unable to go there now because the parents are not able to afford to pay the rest. Unless your kid is one of the ones who get one of those very rare full rides it is still a lot of expense. A lot of kids or going the JUCO route because it is cheaper and most or closer to home and if you are one of those talents that has a possibility of being drafted, you don't have to stay three years before you are able to be considered for the draft. I believe that is why some of these smaller schools are being able to compete with the used to be big power house schools because the kids are staying closer to home because of the way scholarships are now days.
  22. I would like to say thank you to all the ex area college and pro ball players that have come back to coach these select teams here. Brian Bost, Allen Harrington, Will Delage, Cody Myers, Taylor McGuiness, Eric Harrington, Morgan Walker, Jason Tyner, Jeff Moye, and the rest who I am not familiar with or forgot. Thank you for coming back and teaching these kids what you have learned through your experiences.
  23. They were 11u Premier. They were a good team. Hit the ball well. Good solid ball club. They had to get through the Gladiators to get to the championship and we know how tough they are to beat.
  24. I just think the way that the scholarships are now the normal power house schools are having a hard time getting kids that aren't right there in their back yard to commit. Kids are staying closer to home unless they get one of those rare full rides because it is cheaper on the parents. Which in turn is why now you see some of the smaller schools being able to compete with the use to be power houses.
