Unfortunately I'm out of likes.  English IS without question one of the best coaches in SETX and to take a hit like that before the season starts would effect any team at any level.  Not saying Ned won't improve because they will.  But to say he won't be missed is just being dishonest with yourself.  I don't really think anyone at Nederland believes that. 
Now, there is one chink in English's armor that was glaring last night.  Somehow, he has let Kelly outrecruit him in Port Arthur!  Talk about a couple of PGs that would be difference makers at Big Ned!  
I kid my Nederland friends.  I kid...

So let's get this straight, Many on here believe Coach English is one of the Best Coaches in SETX. He has a PG whose his starter for 3 yrs & now he's gone, some of you think Big Ned will be fine?? Not many programs from HS to College to Pros recover quickly losing a key piece of their offense, especially at PG. It's hilarious how once a player is gone the outlook on their performance quickly changes in the eyes of "Experts".   Funny how NONE of this was mentioned while the kid was here. I've watched the kid Blossom for years, had he not gone to Nederland, that program would be worse than it is now. Don't let the few move-ins fool you, one of them is a Cousin of mine.  BTW, since when Nederland has had a player to create his own shot??  Not a knock, just keen observation. SMH

But there is no denying they would better with him.

Of course it hurts losing a 3 year starter.  LOL, thats common sense.  He was also their best on ball defender.  That means a lot.  He was capable to breaking the press without much help, able to control tempo, and get them into their offense vs pressure.  You people minimizing the loss of 3 year starter is laughable.  I get being happy for your son's team winning against a quality program and coach.  Congrats.

Congrats JB we are so proud of you son and your accomplishments after facing so much adversity throughout the years! You will have nay' sayers and those who believe in you but most of all always believe in yourself! One of the best athletes I've ever had the pleasure to see and coach whether it was baseball, football or basketball when you showed up, you were one of the best on the court or field! Use this blessing to get that degree and secure your future, it's worth it!

Dareiyus Richard was a monster on the boards. Dont have the numbers yet but he had to have 12 or 15. We played ok considering Jomard Valsin only practiced one day before this game because of football. Nederland is a very good team with or without Jaylen. 22-5A better not sleep on them.

Fox is stronger than most people realize. Plus, when he gets in college, he will get even stronger.

yes KT was an excellent player as well but you do realize Perkins averaged  27.5 points, 16.4 rebounds and 7.8 blocked shots a game as a Senior,

Having Asst. AD's is common place, even at 3A schools. Having an AD, a head football and head basketball coach at a 3A school like Kountze (I say "like" based on their own money troubles) is very rare and not good business, IMO. No way you can get your monies worth having 3 different people in those positions at a school and community the size of Kountze.

I think this is right on the money. The basketball job is going to look a lot different after Graylon leaves town.
