Isn't he a LB or are you talking about someone else?

Just curious to see where Angleton is predicted on a supposedly down year for them coming up. Thanks.
1. Angleton 2. George Ranch 3. Rosenberg Terry 4. Richmond Foster 5. Lamar Consolidated 6. Freeport Brazosport 7. Bay City
George Ranch at #2, wow. Might be an interesting district to follow.

Holt-Washington and last but not least, D CHATMAN, but I am worried about his confidence.  Seems to need a lot of positive reinforcement from what I'm told.  If he doesn't rush for over 500 yards by the midway point of the season, we're transferring him to New Caney or Porter. DEFENSE Francis Jackson Wilson (he's a hitter and has put on a lot of size this year) Sarafin (not sure how much time he'll see ...I hear he's a hitter, big kid too) [Place Holder for surprise stand out on the line we desperately need] [Place Holder for surprise stand out at DB we desperately need]
On O-Line our center Harrison Thompson was 1st team all district as a guard last season, hopefully his leadership will do well with an undersized but experienced line. The leader on D-line is Cordarrell Davis. I expect Hanora to do well at nose. I expect Graves and Reece to stand out at safety and corner respectively. Also, corner Amiri Jones is one to watch, looked really good in spring ball. Wasn't Sarafin a freshman last year? I don't think he will start over Dakota or Jacob.
When the number 1 team in the state and most dominant 4a squad in the region loses it is pretty stunning. I know SC is ranked higher but I still think Dawson is the D1 favorite.
It didn't stun me when Ned beat Dawson (in fact I predicted a 20-17 Ned win, which was surprisingly close). About halfway into the regular season Dawson was getting really sloppy with turnovers, penalties, and giving up a lot of points. I'm not sure why the went to the post season ranked #1 when they barely got away with a win against TC.

IMO Cedar Park would have beaten Guyer. WF Ryder is high, Marshall and Dawson are low on the poll. I think Dawson is top 5 when the AP poll comes out though.
I don't think Cedar Park would have beaten Guyer last year, I think they would this upcoming season if they played. I think Aledo is top 10, just not #3. Dawson is just a wee bit overrated, they have they players to win it all its just that they played too sloppy last season and a few of the players would throw tantrums when something didn't go their way. If they can tighten things up next season then I don't think anyone in 4a will be able to stop them.
IDK, Guyer was blown out twice last year while Cedar Park's two 5a losses were to semi-finalist austint westlake and and 3 point loss to abeliene cooper who has one of the most dynamic players in the state in lorenzo joe. i think cedar park is the katy of 4a, they can win d1 or d2 title. no way to ever know but i think cedar park would have gotten them. dawson has the most starters in the district coming back from playoff teams to i think they the favorites to represent region 3 in d1.
shhhhh! your gonna upset demdawgs. ;D
Vidor just needs to worry about beating Nederland.  Sounding highly unlikely ...but am pulling for you guys.  Vidor definitely gets the heart award.  Any team with kids the size of most middle schools that can still compete gets a big pat on the back. I'm gonna trash talk as much as I can this year ...but SC needs to prove they can beat teams like Aledo, Cedar Creek, Guyer, etc.
Georgetown, Magnolia West..
This year's GT is no prob ...I'm curious to see if they go the same route as Humble.  MW ate up a weak inexperienced SC defense on the ground.
dude, we ate up your defense on the ground. had we not turned it over 6 times, who knows.
Yep ...moved the ball well ...but that's also about playing hide and seek with the football too.  It's not like you had 3 guys that you could put in the I-formation and dominate.  You owned the ground and SC owned the air.  Our passing attack was too much, plain and simple.  Also, you have to cancel some of those turnovers because you got a couple extra drives due to successful onside kicks (was impressed with the aggressive play calling btw).
i'm just making the point that your defense wasn't good enough to win a title. you blame the d for MW and I'm saying it didn't help you this past season either. you blame enrollment #'s, but in reality, it was the defense. I think you know this. and yes, we had no answer for your passing game. in fact we knew it was going to be the difference before hand. we needed to play mistake free and keep Sharp on the sideline but it didn't work out that way.
You're right about the defense.  They played a bend-but-don't-break style.  I don't recall seeing too many sacks during the year.  I also don't recall a game where our defense would get the game ball ...but they did make some key plays from time to time.  Crosby game stands out well.  We had a key stop on 4th and short on our side of the field.  Also had an INT in the endzone which was a back breaker.  SC defense is going to be a HUGE indicator this year.  We have about 3 proven stand out players and a couple more that "should" be stand outs. Really not seeing any big D lineman and that worries me.[\B]
Hanora is a good sized guy, just needs to get quicker before week 0.

I'm thinking the AP will have SC, Ned, and Elgin in the preseason top ten from R3. Dawson, Texas City, and Marshall should get votes.
Dawson will be in for sure. They have the most kids returning of all the 24-4a playoff teams. Marshall was 13-1 last year and hammered TC in the second round, they beat Elgin in the next round and their only loss was in the regional championship. I think Marshall lost a couple receivers but their backs and qb were sophomores. Had it not been for Marshall having to play Manor in the alamodome i think they would have won the region. How the UIL allow the region 3 championship to be held in the heart of region 4 in San Antonio baffles me but that's another story. Ned will get some votes but they lost at least 9 starters i can count so they won't be. I think Elgin returns the most starters in the region and will probably be top ten and they say Terel Simmons is supposed to be the best player in Austin even though i personally think it's Perine. District 17-4a is an Austin district so i really don't count them as truly being from the region since they only play here every other alignment.
If AP weighs returning starters that heavily then they won't put a team like SC in the top 10, which graduated 12 starters (which I think is more than average). I think it is hard to account for the quality of the returning lettermen that weren't starters.

I honestly see a lot of solid d2 or d1-aa kids in the 2014 class.  around 8 or so other then Allen and Sharp (obviously d1 kids).  Torrey Johnson looks like he could potentially pick a lower level D1 offer.  other than that, its way to early to tell
IF Johnson had more height, sky's the limit
Im surprised height is hurting Torrey so much in his recruitment. He has the fastest 40 time on the team (sub 4.4 I think). I would think speed/quickness would make up for height a bit.
Aaron is dealing with the same thing as Johnny Football. He wants to be a Longhorn but they already have a commitment from the top qb in the state and in my opinion from watching the film the 2nd best dual threat in the country behind deshawn watson. Sharp plays the game well from the head up and moves well but he's a little thin and arm strength could be an issue in a vertical passing game. He runs well and is fast but he's not a natural runner like Heard who rushed and passed for over 2000 yards. Heard also has a cannon attached to his shoulder where Sharp's strength is accuracy instead. If he's worried about committing to Baylor because of Randall Cunningham who has never even thrown for a 1000 yards he'll really be looking over his shoulder because UT is usually going to get the best qb that stays in-stat. My cousin, Kenny Vaccaro and Alex Okafor all got arrested and didn't miss a game. Brewer played in what i consider an SC-like super spread and piled up good numbers but it was more system than player. I think UT is flat out loaded with Swoopes and Heard. I see wanting a look but why not go where you're wanted instead?
From what I've read it seems like they do really want Sharp, just not at Qb. Same thing at Baylor.
They don't offer unless they want you (Texas).  And i think they would give him a shot, they just aren't going to announce it to scare away what is a higher prospect on their board.    on Film i notice a couple of things difference, but two clear facets that makes Heard more appealing to keep then Sharp. 1. The ability for Heard to make plays with his legs. 2. The level of competition that Heard has played. I honestly believe Sharp is every bit as good as Heard, but for applewhite he wants a guy that looks more like Young then Geno Smith.  He would love to have them both, however if he had to choose.... well its evident he is going with Heard.    They want Sharp as an athlete, and i am willing to bet they would let him try out at QB.  But they won't risk Heard by offering him as such.  They believe Heard is a game changer for them, much like Young.  I think its a mistake, i hate when Texas takes 1 QB per class.    I think Swoopes looks like a bust, i hope i am dead wrong about that.  Kid sure does have a rocket for an arm though.
You think they would scare off Heard if they offered Sharp as a Qb? I'm not so sure about that, I would guess that Heard would have more confidence in himself than that. Besides if I were Heard I would want Sharp on the team, not only as competition at Qb but as a potential weapon to throw to in the future.

I know Texas really likes him as an athlete so why not find a way to get him on the team? Sharp supposedly isnt against playing a different position if he doesn't make it as a Qb.

Atascocita was plagued with an incompetent Head coach for the first 6 years of its existence.  They produced what you would expect a Colbert team to produce.    Anyone familiar with Colbert will tell you that the man was more a determent to development of game plans then a contributor.
AHS is 26-25 since they've had seniors. Have only won more than 5 games once. All you do is make excuses for why Humble ISD has so much talent but can't win games other than SC. I don't care how unsetteled the area is, if you have talent you should average more than 4 wins a season which Atascosita does. Humble high will only win 2 district games again this year but i guess the area is growing or the program doesn't have its footing? I guess opening SC ruined every football team in the district?
Not necessarily true. I'd say all the Humble isd schools are pretty close talent wise (I'd actually argue that AHS has a bit more to work with than SC). Humble, AHS, and KHS are adjusting to coaching changes, which IMO the first two are getting better coaches then they had before. I don't mean any disrespect when I say this, but coach Colbert and his staff was extremely apathetic, at least at Atascocita. I haven't seen that entire team anywhere near as fired up prior to the 2012 season, believe me, I've watched their games since year 1.

AHS started 2012 looking like the best team they had ever fielded (even better than 2009 when they had guys like Kent Brooks on the team) however they got progressively more sloppy towards the latter half of the season, as they have done every year they have played (yes, every). If we are talking about the team that started the season, I'd say in a hypothetical matchup AHS would have been a 3 score favorite. With late season AHS, probably a tossup.
I don't think AHS or Kingwood would beat SC right now. We played Atascosita two years in a row with only half the enrollment and beat them by a combined 77-37. I know they were new but Atascosita and Kingwood are like Deer Park. Every now and then they might field a competitive team but they never have the horses to be a real threat. All the supposed talent in Humble and they've only made the playoff once in like 7 years. The Spring 5a district is tough which is the one SC would be in but I think they would battle for a fourth playoff spot with one of the Klein schools conceding losses to Westfield and Dekaney most years.
That's what I was thinking too
No.  Not unless inflation hits 100%+ And no.  paying HS kids is a ludicrous notion.  that opens the door to more illegal recruiting.  The Money made is not so incredible that people are becoming filthy rich.    The football programs help float the other sports, and help pay for multi-million dollar stadiums.    Better football teams, means better facilities, which means higher property values, which means more development,  which means higher revenue for schools.    That is the cycle.  It isn't formatted like college football.  Football is an investment that pays out much different than hard cash.
Coach Harrell used to make 6 figures at Ennis, just barely. Pretty surprising considering how big hs football is in Texas.

Aundre Dean who was the best of them all is buried on TCU's depth chart just like DY would be. I never said anything about him having bad grades on being a problem, I said NOT EVEN that stuff would make him be lowly rated. For him being the total package like you say he didn't do a single thing all the Katy backs do. Forget my opinion though, here's what rivals thought. Dean - [Hidden Content] Taylor - [Hidden Content] Young - [Hidden Content] I guess whatever your reasons are are better than rivals for him only getting 2 d1 offers? Your Humble argument is weak too. Y'all still have nearly 1600 kids in your high school. Y'all were good because you had 3000+ kids to choose from. Now your fertile recruiting ground is comparable to Porter. Y'all are North Forest in this district, a complete non-factor. I think y'all only crossed the 50 yard line on us twice last year and one of those was a long run late. Only way y'all will be relevant in this area in 4a is to get out of the district with BH, Crosby and Dayton. Lastly, look at the demographics of the NFL. It's almost 70% black. The majority of those players grew at a disadvantage. Like I said, I'll take the kid who had it a little harder over that kid that had it handed to them.
You sir are incredibly obtuse.  I think we have effectively beat this into the ground.  I do not agree with you, and i have personal knowledge that suggest i am right.  However, because i don't believe in airing out personal details we will just have to leave it as is.  However, i will strongly disagree with you that he didn't do what other Katy backs have done... In fact that is absurd.  He is either 1 or 2 in terms of single season production in their history. Senior year:  244 carries  2309 yards  9.5 yards per carry  36 TD's. (I believe he is second all time in running td's in a single season for Katy...sharing 160 carries with Adam Taylor....  and is behind Adam Taylor's senior season numbers ... who played in 3 more cames then Young and still average less yards per carry) Thats on 100 less carries then Dean, 10 more touchdowns, and nearly 3 more yards per carry....nearly identical yards.    And Dean had equal or better offensive line. Yet....he hasn't done what they have done?  Humble on the same talent level as Porter?  Are you freaking serious?  Now i know you have no idea what you are talking about.  1. Humble had a brand new coach, and was completely and totally vacant of varsity experience last year.  They returned 3 varsity players...2 started....form a 4-6 team (that saw two kids go D1.  Boyette (Texas) Ezell (Baylor)).    The coach arrived in may, not enough time to hold a spring practice for a completely different system (went from spread to power set).  Started a bunch of kids that had never played varsity ball before, in a system they didn't grow up learning...against competition that all had seasoned players.  OH yeah, and we split with SC two years prior.  I don't care who you are, if you get split up twice in 8 years...you are going to struggle at some point. I think you are going to be surprised with what humble puts on the field, if you hold the mentality that we don't have the talent to compete in our district.  We aren't the 5a Humble anymore, but talent wise we can hold our own against Crosby, SC, and Dayton....most certainly BH.
Truth.
A loosing record in the playoffs is a loosing record. Years don't matter. But if you do what to look at the level of competition - see above. And remember that in '11, after breezing through their cupcake district, Summer Creek was donkey-stomped by a team that was donkey-stomped by a team that lost to Manvel. What would you consider SC's best win against real competition?
I guess against Vidor last year was SC's best win so far. I want to say Dayton, considering the overall domination, but as most argue Dayton had been struggling with injuries and inner-program issues at that point. I understand that SC has yet to prove their worth against elite playoff teams with a win, however you have to at least commend their losing effort against Georgetown. They hung in there pretty well for the majority of the game, which really wasn't out of reach until the middle of the 4th quarter. Hanging around with a team that can blow out and nearly shut out a team like Ned has to be worth something. Same goes for Angleton, I thought their 49-39 loss was a bit under-appreciated.

I got there about 20 minutes before kickoff and had trouble finding a seat. But anyway, we are a small but dedicated group of fans at SC. Only 370 alumni (last year anyway, as of May we have around 850-900 alum), usually more parents and younger children than high school students at the games.

SC has a loosing record in playoff games (1-2). That doesn't sound very relevant. Manvel and Dawson were a combined 9-3 in playoff games after their first three varsity seasons. After four seasons they were a combined 18-5 in playoff games and had won three region titles between them. Now THAT is relevant! Until SC can get a winning record in the post season they are just puppies nipping at the BIG DOGS heals!
I thought manvel didn't make the playoffs until their 4th season. Dawson was quite the anomaly in their second season, having missed the playoffs the year before then making it to the state semi's. Definitely more than "Relevant".

On the flip side, they could lay an egg too.  Last year's team had a personality and chemistry.  We lost some key big time players (Greg Hogan, KeVonn Aldrige...), but we have some others in the pipeline like Sydney Holt-Washington and Torrey Johnson (who has been incredible since his sophmore year). Duente Chapman is looking to have a stellar year too. Our defense is a BIG "if" ...last year's defense was good ...more of a bend but don't break style of defense.  They definitely weren't a defense like Nederland's.  Those guys where the kind of defense that kept their offense in the game.  Dakota Allen will be in his senior year.  I believe everyone is expecting a HUGE year from him.  He'll definitely be the captain.  Really hoping for some new guys to step up and surprise the district.
Another "If" is Honora replacing Matlock at nose guard. He looked pretty good as matlock's backup last year.
