It was very obvious during the Magnolia West playoff game (although Aaron was young). It showed up again in the GTown game. Aaron does better when he tucks the ball and runs when the heat comes.
I agree he did seemed a little rattled during the Gtown game, I felt he forced a couple of passes when he should have tucked and ran. I think the coaches should have called the same game plan for him like they did vs Vidor, and that was more designed run plays, remember Sharp is not your QB that's gonna take off and run after the first read is not there...but I wouldn't say when he's pressured he struggles, he's one of the most poised QBs in district....I believe next year he will run more because he will need to....he's been playing as a Freshman and never had a solid O line
I thought the 2011 oline was pretty good
Nope. We had an okay center and an okay LT, we never had a solid line....
I guess my memory is a bit fuzzy, I don't recall Sharp having to run for his life as often behind that line.
Yeah, there's a big question mark hovering over the defense.  SC graduated three DB's as well.  SC can only out score opponents for so long. Eventually the defense will need to hold up.
Yeah but the 3 DBS , wasn't our strongest ones....Goree was decent, but we had a junior on sideline name Jesse, that was suppose to be on the field, and the coaches chose not to play because of a senior
Im not sure why Michael Stewart started. He had the athleticism at safety but he was very soft, didn't really have any killer instincts.

And the fact that SC had the worst pass defense in the district and they lost 3 of there defensive backs from last year.
Well i think new caney will have the best defense in 19-4a in 2013 because they had the best pass defense in district last year. That totally makes sense right? They look like they will pick up where they started last year.  The loss of the senior WR's will be interesting, because it is notably dropped off over last year.
OK LOL I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt here... and i am hoping you put the O Line comment on the D line.... because I have never seen 1 defensive line struggle against another Defensive line that was protecting a QB that had a quick release... LMAO!...
hardy har har.    Obviously a typo.    But i meant to say they will have a problem against larger Offensive lines.    and lucky for them that they have an offense as athletic and potent as it is, because if they did not this defense would not stay fresh very long.  essentially, if you remove Aaron Sharp and a couple of wideouts...this team is not very good.    Its amazing what a couple of top tier D1 talents will do for your total output.
:-D well i couldn't pass it up.... i mean it just jumped out at me and said HEY LOOK AT THIS!!! :-D ... and it seems from what I read on here there are more holes in the SC program this year than expected.... did some upcoming talent move? or just not filling out like they thought they were?? or is there more rust then expected....
Well there is always going to be rust, same thing happened last year having to replace the entire O-Line for example but the inexperience is more spread out across the team. I think it will take a couple weeks into the season before they figure out where everyone performs best or helps the team best.

A couple baseball players....the O line still need work, I expect them to be ready at end of the summer
I don't know, I thought the D-line looked good in pass rush and O-line wasn't terrible in pass protection (needs work, of course). O-Line looked strong blocking for the run, though I thought the defense didn't handle it too well. I thought a few second/third stringers made good plays.
Why didn't he start at Rob last year though? SC's backs were decent at best last year. We had a 1000 yard back in Jacoby Scott and Austin took his spot as a sophomore. I know he's not a better rb than Jeffery or he would've started over Aldridge last year. 3 carries in the spring game is about important as the fg's they practice with no rush. Unless he grew 2 inches in a month he's still 5-11. ISounds like he can play but he has to put something on film first. I believe he made the move for athletic purposes which is fine with me. I don't think he gets that offer if he stays at Porter. That's a six figure private school scholarship at SMU so congrats Devlin and his family.
I have no idea what the circumstances are regarding his transfer so I'm not going to make any fuss over it, but hypothetically wouldn't you prefer if there were other reasons he had to transfer other than athletic? I mean its kind of in bad taste to just transfer for athletic purposes even if you have a valid excuse. I guess you could make the argument if he had stayed at porter he wouldn't have likely got offered from a good college, and if he struggles as a student that scholarship could open up a window of opportunity for future success I suppose. Idk, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth generally because I take education really seriously.

I think I would take a quarter century of dominating the southern bend over a single title.
Calallen has been good for a while, but the south Texas competition is WEAK! Going two+ rounds down there doesn't compare. Southlake Carroll won titles in 2A and 3A before the stretch run in 5A...Pretty darn salty. And they won those early titles in an offense built around the run under Ledbetter, then dominated the 5A scene through the air under Dodge. And one name I haven't seen yet is Plano. Hard to say who is top dog.
The competition in the district may be weaker but region 3 doesn't compare to region 4 where Calallen plays. Throw in the fact that they're about the size of Ozen and lose the to the eventual state champ about 50% of the time and other than La Marque who has multiple titles nobody in region 3 compares. When is the last time a 4A school other than La Marque won a title from this region? Unless you have multiple titles I think Calallen's success is untouched.
Thanks for helping proove my point. Region 4 has only been successful because of Lake Travis and lets be honest here, they are not exactly a south Texas team are they. Sure Lamarque is the only real title holder from Region 3, but to discredit teams like Brenham, Manvel, Dayton and others that have played for the title recently, but praise Callalen for loosing to Lamarque (best in region 3 for years) over and over again makes little sense. Other than LT, who from R4 has played for a title before this year. And who from south of San Antonio which is who CC Callallen feasted on for years only to loose when they got to some real competition. CCC is a good program, but they dont deserve to be in this convo.
Did you not see the 4a playoffs last year? Cedar Park won the D2 title from region 4 and played Manor who's usually region 4. Meaning the Austin district won our "tough" region. Not only did they win both region 3 titles, all 4 of their playoff teams would have gone three rounds deep had it not been for Ned. Next year Georgetown will be back in region 4 so you really can't count them as playing for a title from region 3. The year Manvel went to state they beat Calallen by three in the semis and Dayton by 39 in the third round. Manvel also had nearly a 1000 kid enrollmet advantage. The year before that La Marque blew out Dayton, Manvel and then Calallen in the semis before losing to Aledo in the title game. IJS, Cedar Park, Smithson Valley, New Braunfels, Alamo Heights, Calallen, and Travis 5 times in the last decade have played for 4a titles. you might as well throw in Georgetown too because that's usually where they play. While region 2 still dominates everybody region 4 has a leg up on us in the semifinal battles and it gets even worse in 5a. It would be ugly be it not for Katy.
I'd have to say the Austin area has per capita the strongest football in the state. The Austin area schools usually are in R4 in 4a and R2 in 5a, so naturally they dominate in 4a more often than in 5a (North Houston and DFW can be fierce). As far as R4 having the recent advantage over R3 in the state semi's, R4 always manages to have a handful of really good teams year to year, I would just say that their regional competition is pretty weak compared to R3.
hey, we acknowledged that loss and gave credit to SC. we didn't whine about enrollment numbers like you did with G-town which by the UIL's COUNT ACTUALLY WAS A BIT SMALLER SCHOOL.
There is a distinct advantage schools have during their 1st year dropping down.  We saw it with Humble as well.  The real G-Town will stand up this year.  SC was ROBBED of our birth rite.  The UiL added to the pain by setting us up against G-Town in round 2.  That game should have been to determine who went to state.  Neverland and Angleton had no business playing after week 2.  SC would have stomped either squad.
Whatever you say, besides, SC would have got crushed by Guyer in the state championship.
Wouldnt have even been close IMO.
Well no one will ever know, but I wonder about that occasionally. I think Heard would have found it a bit more challenging trying to run circles around SC's defense, just taking sideline to sideline speed into account. However, that Guyer offense could block like none I've seen in high school so maybe he could have run between the takles successfully. Aside from team speed Gtown had the best D in 4a IMO, which leads me to believe SC would have done better on offense against Guyer comparable to Gtown. Who knows, could have been closer than you think if it had happened.
Totally disagree with you here. Gtown exposed the SC defense, which was weak at the line of scrimmage and in pass coverage.    SC line play on both sides of the ball was below average to bad.  The pass defense was equally as bad.    SC succeeding against defenses that struggled to match up against the bull dawgs speed.  When they met a team that's wide outs were not only disciplined enough to block down field, but run routes....they struggled to keep them out of the endzone.    This is typical with the type of team SC has.  i have seen it dozens of times with Humble over the years.  Speed, and no technique.    They tend to put to much pressure on their LB's to create disruption because their line doesn't get the pressure required.  They end up bringing 6 sometimes 7 man blitzes leaving HUGE gaps in coverage. You can put 11 guys on the field that will blow past you at a track meet.  But if your kids don't understand cap coverage, and you use your LB's as the disruptive force on just about ever play.... Then you are going to pay the price agains teams that are disciplined and patient enough to let the game come to them.    Most teams SC is going to shut down, because they are probably more athletic then most teams...but like a lot of Humble's previous teams....they struggle against coached up kids.    Georgetown reminded me  a lot of The Woodlands teams of the last 3-4 years.
Everything you just said I pretty much agree with 100%, that's why I said that Guyer probably would have been able to run over us for the most part. I still believe that Gtown outmatched all 4a schools they played man to man, except Guyer had a guy that Gtown couldn't quite keep in check. I'm sure you saw the state championship game, Gtown was dominating Guyer in the first half, then in the second half they let Heard do what he does best.
Huh?  What team do you support? Also your name says it all about you.  Richard a.k.a. "d_ck."  Cranium a.k.a "head."
I am a PNG fan. Summer Creek has a lot of talent with the recruitment from Humble High. The problem I see with SC as I watched them 3 times this past year is Discipline. When they are getting beat, they lose their composure.
You saw the Georgetown game? That's the only time they trailed all year. I'm just asking, I saw them play three times too and never saw that. Are you talking about the varsity? Vidor didn't lose composure and fought hard but once Dayton was trailing they just went ahead and laid down, throw in the arguing amongst themselves and that's what i would call losing composure.
i have to agree on both of coug14's points. Sc was the first good team dayton saw all year and they rolled over dead. It reminded me of when dayton played crosby earlier in the year.
I'll take that. At least we didn't roll over the next week too though.
Hmm, when SC lost to GTown I only heard good things about Gtown from the SC players and coaches. They were really impressed, and although they were disappointed about the early loss they enjoyed the challenge. The varsity football team had mature athletes for the most part, I can understand "lack of discipline" coming from the sub varsity players (part of why they aren't on varsity). I will admit the baseball team was a bit hot headed at times, so you can say what you want about them its fair game.
