How about “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” Too late for that one though. Bottom line is that not everyone is built to be a HC. If you can’t convey to your players what you want them to do, then let someone who can, take the lead.

Came across this thread just now while looking for something else. This was 5 years ago. WOS only had 3 returning starters and went to the SC game? Interesting!

It’s very discerning to see everyone downing the “education” at WOS. There have been and are still excellent teachers on the staff and kids wanting to go further in life get a great education. The problem is that WOS has a larger majority of kids who may be challenged in one way or another and the lack of discipline in the classroom than other schools in the area. The curriculum is there. The ability and desire to learn may be a challenge to some, but it is maddening for some to act like the kids at WOS aren’t being taught. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. (Especially in today’s society where everyone is offended by something).

Maybe because he's not a racist and everybody who knows him, knows that. The "suspect" had nothing to do with kids on the team other than they were suspected of being able to play the game or not. That's what he meant and that's ALL he meant. 51 years of coaching all races and you want to make something nasty out of him saying suspect or prospect?

In my opinion, Silsbee is the perfect location for turf and for schools to rent out during playoffs. Their stadium is so nice and would definitely be a draw for playoff games. I, too, am surprised that they weren't the first to get turf.

It has nothing to do with the player named. I wasn't really wanting to get into an argument over who deserved Super Gold and who didn't because I know that it is a tough job to decide between the number of schools that we have. I just know that WOS didn't have but maybe two on it last year (IF that...I'll have to go back and look. I do remember a lot of people upset about the lack of representation) and one on it this year and the comment about giving support to a defense that held opponents to 270 was just laughable to me since we've held opponents to half that amount. We all have opinions, I know....

What people never take into consideration is that coaches also teach! The majority of them also coach more than one sport. That takes them away from their families and their workload is unreal. Granted, AD/HC's are paid administrators. Most of them ALSO have to take care of the junior high personnel. Yes, there may be a campus coordinator, but they answer to the AD. AD oversees all athletic programs, attends most every game in every sport, works 12 months, and is pretty much on call 24/7. Teachers do not make enough PERIOD, but to compare their salary to a coach, HC/AD is apples and oranges. Until you are closely associated to the coaching profession, it is hard to comprehend.
