  1. Sterling had the ball on the 5 yd line with less than a minute left to play. Could not score.
  2. So close. I heard the Patriot fans showed up in droves. Seems like some things never change.
  3. Friday, October 1st Port Arthur Memorial (1-0) at Goose Creek Memorial (0-1) 7:00 PM, Stallworth Stadium Ross S Sterling (1-0) at Friendswood (0-1) 7:00 PM, Henry Winston Stadium rel (1-0) at La Porte (0-1) 7:00 PM, Bulldog Stadium
  4. Quite clear now that GCM is not real good. Kind of disappointed, but at least the Lee vs Sterling game could have that Old School feel this year with possible playoff implications.
  5. Not many (if any) wins left on the schedule.
  6. Halftime scores: GCM 0 Ball 14 rel 14 Friendswood 7
  7. Game is at Friendswood so obviously not Homecoming. For Sterling at least.
  8. Thursday, Final United 7 Sterling 14 Sterling improves to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in district. Will play Friendswood next Friday for Homecoming. If you BH peeps are available, come on home for a game. You remember how to get there. Correct?
  9. So is there a trophy or something? Meaningless game. Sterling will be a playoff team. First time since 2010.
  10. Well, they have not looked as good tonight as they have before the off week. United is big on the oline, but not nearly as athletic as Sterling’s dline.
  11. All three schools will open play in District 9-5A Thursday, Sept. 23rd 7:00 PM Stallworth Stadium Beaumont United at Baytown Sterling Friday, Sept. 24th 7:00 PM Stallworth Stadium Friendswood at rel (Homecoming) Friday, Sept. 24th 7:00 PM Goose Creek Memorial at Galveston Ball
  12. After GCM, one high school was the answer. Not going to win any state championships IMO, but going to be much more competitive. I think the competition aspect scares most Baytownians.
  13. Hendricks graduated in 1992. The biggest issue at Sterling that some of the best athletes choose to play only baseball. We have had a couple of QB's (Cervenka and Dempsey) that would have had huge impacts on the football field. Cervenka went on to the MLB Minor leagues and Dempsey played baseball at UH. There have several more, but when the football team is struggling its hard to convince a young man to expose himself to injury over a sport he has a better future in. Plus, the baseball program has been very successful.
