  1. Barnes is 18 too. So their two best players are both younger than at least some of the better players in our area.
  2. Maybe so. But Cunningham is 18. And If he was eligible, might be the top pick in this year’s draft. Would definitely be top 5.
  3. Valid point. Problem here is, MV roster is just better across the board. And you are using an elite NBA defender as an example. Guess what, Barkley played a lot bigger than 6-4 1/2 too. Haven’t seen SFA’s big man. Assuming from the poster who has, he’s not PJ or Chuck.
  4. Huge difference between football and basketball. Huge. There’s a reason they have to stay in college longer (Or have to go to college) in that sport than the others. Comparing apples and asparagus.
  5. I think you’re right. They should have thought longer and harder before they Shanghai’d the socialist again. They need to let old Joe convalesce. I’m convinced he doesn’t even know where he is half the time and that’s the choice to put up for leader of the free world?
  6. In other words, no Kasen Harrison. He was certainly deserving imo.
  7. Let me add that not a team in the SLC has guards equivalent at the college level to a James Harden and Russell Westbrook. What they would be playing vs MV is guards that ARE the equivalent - at that level of course. Along with bigs that are blue chip program level elites.
  8. I do too AAW but imagine a team that beats Silsbee’s last state title team by 60-80 points (if not worse). Because that’s what you’re talking about. With, as Truth pointed out, a likely top 5 or 10 all time HS coach. A coach who could leave tomorrow for most open Power 5 conference team head jobs.
  9. Kind of my thoughts as well on SFA. They were a team deserving of a big dance bid, even if they hadn’t won the SLC tournament. Kevon Harris was easily the best player in the conference this year. Even so, he’s a far cry from an even 18 yo Cunningham, who will be the favorite to be Big XII player of the year next season (maybe the best Big 12 player since KD). And no doubt MV has a far superior front court to SFA. Still, given what they were able to accomplish this season, I couldn’t favor a HS team over the Jacks. I will say that I’m not sure who Comeaux guards on that team. Every one of their guards is bigger and more skilled. Likewise with SFA’s fronts. They are undersized and less athletic. Still, I have to give props to any team that beats any Coach K Duke team. But to say MV wouldn’t beat the majority of the SLC teams just simply is naive. A few of those kids will be in the NBA in a little over a year. A couple likely will be starters. And the argument is whether they are the best HS team of all time. A likely contender would be the Ben Simmons, D’Angelo Russell team (also Montverde). Are we going to say that a team with a No 1 overall pick and a No 2 overall pick after one year of college ball wouldn’t beat most mid majors? [Hidden Content]
  10. It also seems that they must not care about winning elections. Can’t imagine how they think this is going to play well with voters who are obviously hurting and terrified over the state of affairs. Sometimes, you have to pick your battles. If ever there were a time for our leaders to come together for the greater good... [Hidden Content]
  11. You have no idea. 5-6 potential first round picks. Two lottery picks next year, including the likely top lock. I’m not sure they don’t beat a power school. Rutgers for instance...Montverde has a much better roster. And physical? Have you seen Cunningham? 6-7 point guard with an NBA body. Right now. Just catch an Oklahoma state game or two next season and get back to me. Or Florida State. And their big man? Signed with North Carolina. He’s not bad either. Just keep in mind that either of their two best players would be on the short list of best prospects in the HISTORY of that league. Other than Karl Malone, Joe Dumas, and Andrew Toney, there is probably no one else in the same category.
  12. Truth. That’s why when Silsbee compares next year’s incoming freshman class to the Bush, Adams, and McCain three headed monster, it’s beyond unfair to those young kids. It’s a nice group to be sure, but if any one of those kids is as good as any one of those 3, Silsbee would be extremely blessed. McCain and Bush were legit, best 5 players in 4A in their respective freshmen campaign. And it’s looking more and more like Adams will be pro (whether at home or overseas is tbd).
  13. All that to say Yates shouldn’t feel disrespected when someone says they aren’t on the same planet with that team. If Montverde came at them and played tip to buzzer with the same intensity they do against IMG, they realistically beat JY by 80-90 points. Yates doesn’t have a kid on their campus that can keep CC from doing anything he wants (look at his stat line in that game). And Barnes can put either one of those bigs in the rim as often as he wants.
  14. I do. Cunningham would easily be the best player in that league right now (he will be drafted first or second in the 2021 draft most likely) and Barnes would be the best player in the league if Cunningham wasn’t in it (he is almost a lock lottery pick, one and done). Potentially, you are talking about a HS team with 6 future NBA players on it. I probably was a little conservative. They might beat every team in that league (SFA might be tough). And that is no disrespect the Southland. That’s how good MV is. (And Cunningham will be the best player in the Big 12 next season by the way.)
  15. I would concede it might have been closer than 58-14 at half. But MV’s best player only took like 7 shots in that game. Reminded me of a pickup game where the team that has been waiting finally gets a shot and the team that owns the floor puts in cruise control and takes a rest while playing and keeping the floor. It wasn’t even remotely competitive. Kind of like a Silsbee vs HF game before Coach Tigee. Merely to point out that arguably the most talented team in the state looked like scrubs against the team awarded the National Championship at the HS level. But to put it in further perspective and to show you what Yates was dealing with, I am convinced of something after seeing several of the SLC teams this year. Montverde would beat some, if not most, of the teams in that league.
  16. No doubt. They had the best 2020 kid from Texas and arguably the best 2021 kid from Texas as well.
  17. Yates doesn’t have a single player who would make Montverde’s team. Sounds crazy but still true. As for game planning, Yates most years finds itself in games where altering how they play would fit that particular game. Montverde and Sunrise would be 2 of those games. Tough to try to run and press against teams where your guards are inferior.
  18. An assistant men’s basketball coach at Lamar posted this on Facebook. Good, good stuff from a young man about to become a father: “Been in thought The last couple days as I’m sure everyone has. In a few weeks I’ll have a daughter. She will be born during one of the scariest and most uncertain times in our worlds history. And I will have to have conversations with her as she grows up on why the world is the way it is. It might be conversations as to why there is so much hate, and divide. Why certain groups won’t associate with others and a list of other things. About how an unseen enemy divided our world even further than what it is now. However, I hope that in ten years I can tell her she was born during the most proud time in our worlds history. A time that our world and country turned to God, turned to decency and turned to eachother. When politics, and differences were put aside and the world came together for a common goal and prevailed. And in turn those conversations aren’t difficult but they’re prideful, talking about the pivot point in our worlds history! Pray for eachother, pray for our leaders and pray for our future. ‘If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, and PRAY, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways. Then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and I will heal their land’ “
  19. Look at you starting a really good, helpful thread and all. Stay safe my friend.
  20. Beat Yates by a 50 piece and could have been much worse. Yates can recruit with the best of the Houston schools but the Montverdes and IMGs of the world do that on a whole other level.
  21. [Hidden Content] update from a conservative Repunlicensed county judge and a doctor who I know to be a conservative Republican voter. This from a media source that would be far from “liberal.” The problem is that both sides now seem to want to politicize everything. Both sides of the aisle pointing their little fingers at the other. It’s dumb, sorry. As is the mass panic that is supposedly caused by the media. I would argue the overreaction is more the fault of the people than whatever media they are following. So & so made me do it never worked for me growing up. And why people apparently think they will wipe their behinds with greater frequency during a quarantine is beyond me. These folks also, at least in my area, are overwhelming red voters and Trump supporters. If the “liberal media” caused them to buy every roll of toilet paper in sight, welp...
  22. Equating this to the flu, which I guess people are going to continue to do until Trump tells them to stop, is irresponsible. I’ve got nothing but love for you baddog and it sounds like you are doing your part whether it’s by your normal life or out of an abundance of precaution. But there are unquestionably those that are looking for any reason to keep their heads in the sand. And that would be somewhat okay if it wasn’t for their irresponsibly and/or willful ignorance potentially catastrophically affecting others. I have zero problem with someone drinking themself into oblivion in their own home - that’s their problem and their prerogative. When you get behind the wheel, it becomes “our” problem. And c’mon - at this point, to compare this thing to influenza is to basically say President Trump and Governor Abbott both have no stones and/or no brains. We don’t know HOW bad it will be yet. But it’s already way worse than any flu strain.
  23. Sounds like you went with the majority of the scientific opinions given you. Smart man. (Also, glad the original doc was wrong.)
  24. Denying science has replaced baseball as a national pastime in this country...
