  1. Thanks for pointing out he is 40 years removed from when he held a similar position as the county ME in Hennipan County (although I would imagine it’s a tougher gig to get in NY than Minnesota). That’s a great point. And because a high profile attorney chooses to hire the best in the biz? The shame! Again, I’m sorry the evidence may not support the black dude deserved it (and the cop was simply mentally retarded) but you may have to live with that fact. Ultimately, no one is going to be asking you (or me, for that matter), to consider any evidence.
  2. He’s a hired expert but to say he will just say whatever you want him to say? Some would say the same thing about cops and prosecutors. I wouldn’t. Bottom line: you guys take the hump County ME and I will take Baden. I like my chances in court. A LOT.
  3. Do you draw from not having tissue samples that they just watched the video?
  4. It appeared some of you were really excited the Hennipan County Medical Examiner’s preliminary findings seemed to support a cause of death other than the officer’s excessive force. What many of you probably don’t know is often times a county coroner is not even a medical doctor. What I can tell you is this - doctor or not, whatever hump is the medical examiner in this Minnesota county, his qualifications and expertise will assuredly pale in comparison to Dr. Michael Baden, one of the independent ME’s in this case. He is one of, if not THE most respected in the world in this field. Sorry if anyone’s bubble was bursted.
  5. So are we just going to ignore this? [Hidden Content]
  6. You read my mind.
  7. I wasn’t commenting on the NAACP not supporting him. I was saying that he has made a fool out of anyone who championed his cause. May be the worst justice that has ever disgraced a robe (I can’t think of anyone worse). He has cornered the market on incompetence and laziness. But thanks to the color of his skin, he did achieve the pinnacle of his profession. So good on the NAACP and anyone else who didn’t support his nomination. And shame on the hypocrites who oppose affirmative action yet do support him. And not to derail this thread, but my view of Comatose Clarence has nothing to do with his philosophical beliefs. I appreciate any justice who is bright, thoughtful and hardworking. Justice Scalia, who was as conservative a justice as the high court has seen, was one of the greatest justices the Court has ever seen. He was brilliant and a workhorse. His best friend, RBG, although on the other end of the political spectrum, will be remembered as one of the best as well (and Scalia would be the first to tell you how much he respected her). But when Thomas replaced Thurgood Marshall on the Court, it was akin to the Lakers replacing Lebron James with Kevin James.
  8. The lack of support for Clarence Thomas was well founded by all opponents. If ever there was a case of affirmative action (giving someone a position based solely on skin color), it’s Thomas. He should be the poster child. And he has spent the last almost 30 years proving his naysayers right. I will say that he maybe the GOAT at napping on the bench. He’s definitely the GOAT at almost never asking a question.
  9. I feel the same way. And it’s one of the main reasons I am so high on Crenshaw.
  10. I feel like that’s probably a big game for Beaumont folks, but for me BU is just too new for that to be a big rivalry game. I think it will take a while for it to reach the level of Central-Ozen, which was a must see game almost any time they took the court. I have learned that it’s fun, when speaking with former Central and Ozen players, to work in the conversation that BU is their alma mater. They get pretty triggered 😂
  11. I hope so. Best basketball rivalry game we have in SETX.
  12. They are the favorite every year. Next year will be no different. Edit: especially with the realignment.
  13. And those of you who question Tigee’s reputation for coaching going into the HF job (and teaching for that matter), I guess it just must have not been well known in your circles. Because in Beaumont, heck even in Houston, his coaching abilities have been widely respected and admired. Like him or not, the dude can flat out coach. He also has certainly ignited this message board which has been fun. He is happy at HF and the kids and parents there love him. I can just say if you don’t, you’re just going to have to deal with it. HF hasn’t done anything that other schools in this area, and even that district, haven’t done for years. It’s always funny when they get upset - hey who told you that you can do what we do?!?!? So I think he will continue to be extremely successful at HF. The only way I see him leaving would be to coach at the next level, and it wouldn’t shock me at all if that eventually happens.
  14. You’re right about that. If Tigee coached at Yates there would be more hardware in the Third Ward. Leaving recruiting out of it (which Yates does with the best of them), Wise isn’t exactly known for his Xs and Os. And in game adjustments...fuhgeddaboutit.
  15. The McClure kid will be the best player in the district by a ton though. That combined with Coach Mitchell gets them in (I would think anyway). And you’re right about Silsbee AND about this being the weakest I can remember this district being. The fun part will be it should have a lot of parity like this year. The other district will be fun to watch and much stronger.
  16. They didn’t have much choice after those tests were canceled for the spring.
  17. I like BC’s pg a lot. Lumberton returns the “other” offensive mvp, the one who just committed to Lamar. It will be Silsbee, Lumberton, and then the other 5 fighting for the other two spots. Good news is the other two teams who would have been locks (HJ and HF) are in another district.
  18. You’re talking about California. They own the market on crazy.
  19. I would vote for him against anyone. I think he could play really well among the fringe voters and his record is incredible. Just an amazing individual. I’m not sure he could make the jump now but I would love it if he could. Really hoped he would run Cornyn because I think he would have been a star in the senate. I will say that if any of you have access to HBO, VP Pence and Sen. Rubio (who I’ve always been a fan of as well) had back to back interviews in the most recent Axios episode and it’s worth watching. I thought both were very impressive.
  20. No doubt. And I think McNeese’s style fits him really well. I expect an immediate impact.
  21. This has long been the biggest honor you could receive locally because they always seem to get it right. Good job Jorge and Matt - this year was no exception.
  22. Let’s not forget to congratulate our coach of the year either [Hidden Content] Well deserved!
  23. We do have to draw the line somewhere but we have what are called “affirmative defenses” in all kinds of crimes. If you inserted one that involved being enrolled on the same campus, the arbitrariness of 36 months and 35 months/29 days would be resolved in many instances. Not saying it would solve every miscarriage of justice but it’s a start.
  24. You are to be commended for your taste in firearms and beverages, sir.
  25. It’s tough at that position to get one of the few draft spots available. Many kids do that and then go undrafted and head overseas. That money will be there when they graduate. Unless you are projected strongly in the first round, I personally believe you stay and keep working on that degree. It is so much easier to do when you’re young and simultaneously working on your game. The game ends for all of us at some point, and that’s when the value of that degree really kicks in. I think Jordyn will absolutely make money playing this game but the timing, as with many things in life, is crucial. To that end, congrats to Lamar’s TJ Atwood (Bmt Central) and VJ Homes. They were the two seniors on this year’s team and they both just earned their degrees.
