  1. I told someone today if IP had known how much $ was going to be spent on mailers in this election, they could have kept the mill open another year at least. The money spent on that race is going to end up being staggering.
  2. Shoot, the two Beaumont schools are moving down to 5A. It’s just Houston runs through southeast Texas on the way to San Antonio 😉
  3. You know my petty behind will go find an old thread.
  4. C’mon man. Let me troll EC fans in peace…
  5. Thanks for the info! I know they have some really good kids coming up too. And to be honest, in terms of skill and upside, after Scales, the Thomas kid appeared to me to have the highest ceiling. He looks like he could be a really good one over the next couple of years. Did a lot of things pretty well, especially for a sophomore. But they are definitely losing some key pieces. Forgot about Rawls. Wrinkle got most of the praise out of that group (and he definitely deserved it - he played really hard and was super gritty), but all 4 of those guys were indispensable in that run. Hopefully the young guys coming up will fill in those gaps. But as we discussed when he was hired, love that we have Whitmire and his staff developing those kids.
  6. You see this @Mr. Buddy Garrity? [Hidden Content]
  7. For boys and girls too apparently.
  8. Honestly didn’t know for sure but thought it was at least 1 and maybe 2. They will be #1 again next season, maybe wire to wire again.
  9. I predict if we stay 3A (and we should), the Bobcats will finally make a regional tournament in the next 5 years. Especially if HF continues to outrecruit EC.
  10. Agreed. The biggest reason that rubber match with Kountze was so important.
  11. Since the turn of the century, they would have to be top 10-20 in the state, regardless of classification. Haven’t sat down to make such a list but no way they aren’t in that conversation.
  12. They are a “blue blood” of Texas HS basketball. Rarefied air to be sure.
  13. Winning third round playoff games by 20+ and still complaining. Boo hoo 😉
  14. At least one huh? Dorsey and maybe one more? The two athletic wings I really like (Jones and Sherwood) are both juniors though.
  15. I think Maxpreps may be correct for once. 4? They have plenty of talent coming back though.
  16. Sounds like how our dear, departed friend @Hagar loved to describe playing in Cleveland.
  17. I would doubt it. I haven’t seen them with my own eyes but they got 20 pieced by Mexia a couple of weeks ago.
  18. Exactly. The problem with living by press is when you play teams with size and elite (relative term) guards. Hitchcock’s basket may look like Holland with all those windmills…
  19. Hitchcock by 10-20. I predict a lot of dunks if Kountze stays in that diamond too long. If Kountze shoots the lights out, and rebounds better than expected, could have a puncher’s chance. They should match up better than OF regardless.
  20. 3 maybe? Smith, Wrinkle and Rucker?
  21. I think the AAW line would be around 10-12. Harris would be the best player in the game. Miller second. But the next 3 or 4 would be Hitchcock guys imo.
  22. That will be a fun one. This year that is one I would have traveled to see. Not sure what they will each look like next year.
  23. Had this very thought earlier. Silsbee would be the favorite but Hitchcock would be the best team they’ve played since non-district. Would be fun to watch I think because Hitchcock is just as athletic.
  24. Like Silsbee’s Miller, they have D1 kids in more than one sport. Like Miller, some are choosing football because they can play Power 5 in that sport vs Mid major in hoops (although Drelon could be power 5 in either possibly). How many D1 basketball kids has Orangefield ever had? Not many. You are correct though about them being football heavy. One of the things I love about the really good teams in lower divisions. Get to see true athletes who are great in multiple sports.
  25. They just have way too much firepower. One of their kids I know well is junior Elijah Sherwood. Really good kid. You could argue he’s the third best player on that team. He would also probably be the best wing in the history of Orangefield basketball. We would need to shoot the ball as well as we possibly could shoot it even be in the game. Still a great season for the Bobcats, record setting season in wins and record tying season in playoff wins. Future is very bright.
