Benson Williams - I loved his game as well. Did a lot of the little things too that don’t show up in a box score. His brother (?) JoJo, who played the post, was as scrappy as they come as well. That whole team played with such a high basketball IQ it was a beauty to behold. And I don’t think it was any small part due to the person about whom this thread was started.

The other big from last season (Gonzales) tore his acl in football. A 3 year starter (Dubose) hurt his foot in football and is just now getting back to 100%. They will be fine.

A 50 piece is a 50 piece. Regardless of who you are playing with or your role, it ain’t easy getting the ball in the basket that many times. To do it in back to back tournament games (less rest) is even more impressive.

Not many local guys can compete with those two. One of the mods on this site being the exception. I would love to listen to a WOS/Silsbee game with Stelly and Sanchez doing a joint broadcast (I seem to remember an HJ/Silsbee basketball game with Mike and Rob Lietzke a few years back and I really enjoyed it). Doubt it would happen but I can assure you it would be worth a listen.

These boy/girl tournaments always run behind. I feel for the clock keepers in the girls’ games. Carpal tunnel is inevitable.

Not sure if it’s related to his kid but he’s been dealing with serious health issues for some time. No one had a chance to lure him out of that part of the country because that climate is supposedly the best possible for his son.

Joe has scheduled as tough as he could but I don’t remember getting embarrassed like those two games this weekend. I was not at the games and haven’t heard any reports but my guess is Yates was trying to press a 6-7 PG who is the best in the country.
