  1. I didn’t know how that Morton Ranch thing made sense anyway. The way they run their offense, he would have been a spot shooter waiting for an occasional LJ kick.
  2. [Hidden Content] Get in line “rivals.” Get in line.
  3. Both were arguably the best players on their respective teams as well. Regarding the special ed waiver, I think it has more to do with what classes they take. As for a disability, I didn’t ask a lot of questions because it did not apply in this situation, but I believe it relates to Section 504 cases which, as I understand it, primarily deals with learning disabilities. I do know that English as a second (or 5th) language does not fall within that section.
  4. Yep. If he turned 19 next Sunday instead of last Sunday, he would have been fine. Meanwhile, a couple of kids who turned 20 their senior year for a couple of this area’s perennial powers were able to suit up and play within the past several years. But the only age waivers that exist with UiL apply to special Ed and disabilities.
  5. [Hidden Content] Rest in peace El Ced 🙏
  6. I like the one of the ref from the Saints playoff game who was “responsible for the suicide watch of Epstein.”
  7. I vaguely remember him. The guy at Garden City on this past season sure wanted to come across as someone who does things the right way. In the end, he came across as almost as crazy as that idiot Brown.
  8. I haven’t gotten to that one yet but plan on watching it.
  9. I was thinking the same thing yesterday. I was watching an old Amazon series on the 2015 Arizona Cardinals. Bruce Arians, like most NFL coaches, uses quite a bit of profanity but his players and assistants seem to love him and he seems to genuinely care about them. Was a sharp contrast to all of the seasons I’ve seen of LCU.
  10. More relevant is his recent propensity to insert his foot in his mouth...or is he? [Hidden Content] Is it possible he is taking a page out of the President’s playbook? Is this the new formula for success in American politics? I certainly hope not. And it won’t play as well in gaining the nomination on the side of the aisle he’s seeking.
  11. By the way, BSW is right. For a group that I’m sure preaches tolerance, this “doxxing” (you learn new words all the time now) is nothing more than intolerant cyber-bullying. Hypocrisy at its finest in a day and age where hypocrisy is found in abundance on all sides.
  12. The problem is that like with a lot of cowards, these groups like to operate anonymously. As Bakre noted, the University Police are investigating. So you guys can take solace that although your tax money is not going to a student group that isn’t sanctioned by the University, it is going to the Police agency that’s investigating them.
  13. You guys realize this is a radical student group, not the university? And it’s an anonymous group which makes it harder to police. Hence the condemnation from the UT spokesperson. University of Texas-Austin spokesperson Shilpa Bakre told Campus Reform, “students should never be targeted or face harassment for their affiliations, political beliefs or any other reason. The anonymous group behind this doxxing is not affiliated with the university, is not a registered student group, and should not present itself in that way. As they did last fall, University Police are continuing to work to ensure the safety of any targeted students and monitor for any potential criminal actions.” So before we start condemning The University, maybe let’s start with actually reading the article. And these radical groups exist on virtually every college campus, as the Texas State référence in the article is an example. Here is something that is actually University sanctioned, although I’m sure it will draw some criticism here as well: [Hidden Content]
  14. Every program you mentioned has had transfers and has had transfers recently. Kids have parents who make decisions for those kids, including where they go to school. The rules are then applied as to when they can play. Some of the top coaches in this area have had a lot of these transfers, although I have no desire to point out coaches (who didn’t move those kids) or the kids who did nothing wrong in my opinion It’s a compliment to a coach when parents want their kids to learn from him or her. The kids HF has returning will most certainly be better this year. And like many other really good coaches, their school and program will continue to attract players. And lest I be misunderstood, I agree Silsbee, HJ, and Lumberton do things the right way. The implication, however, regarding HF is misguided.
  15. And I was ridiculed when I said this hire would be a game changer This is not uncommon, and in fact extremely common in places like the metroplex. UIL can require a kid they deem not to be eligible for varsity play to play sub varsity for a year. After that, they are eligible to play under the rules. Those who know the game, and know it well, have known Coach Rideaux was going to make some school a heckuva coach. If HF realizes that and supports them, the Longhorns are going to be extremely competitive in the very near future.
  16. The best part of that entire hearing, in my humble opinion, was Jim Jordan’s turn at questioning Mueller. The congressman from Ohio showed one of the benefits of having lawyers in politics (although arguably one of the few benefits). Jordan launched what amounted to a cross examination of Mueller that was pretty darn masterful. I was more than impressed.
  17. Coach Davis is as nice a guy as you will meet and goes above and beyond with his players. He can be a bit on the shy side with folks he doesn’t know which I suppose can come off a certain way. But he is the polar opposite of “uppity.”
  18. [Hidden Content] Houston Defenders play Team Thad (Thaddeus Young’s team) in the UAA Finals Elite 8 at 6 pm Eastern, 5 pm Central here. Hefner, Clover and Catt all play for the Defenders team.
  19. They’re playing Texas Titans? If so, tune in tomorrow at 1 pm on ESPNU to see the Texas Titans play
  20. I’m admittedly biased but Big Val probably has as high a ceiling as any of them. Just had 13 boards and 8 blocks against perennial power WeR1 (who has two huge, high D1 bigs). One of their wings rose up off the baseline to throw one down and Valentin met him with his head above the rim and sent that thing out of the gym. It was SportsCenter quality. Hoping the video guy captured it.
