Well at least we know one thing. Bray for MVP was the easiest vote in the history of all district selections. If you happen to see him đ, please let him know how proud we are of him and especially the young man that he is.

I think itâs more give it to the guy who won district like happens the vast majority of the time. Which is fine - it is what it is. But it also provides us with fodder for the board which is nice when our teamsâ seasons are over. Everybody has an opinion; the other coaches are the only onesâ whose counts.
-
With Bush getting MVP (which was a no brainer and a given), McClure is clearly the offensive POTY. Got nothing against the other kid who is a nice player, but itâs obviously just a case of letâs recognize as many kids as we can. Just a pet peeve of mine. Give the best player the award and put the other on first team. I can understand it in a blue moon if itâs too close to call. Not the case here.

Iâm saying him winning this district with the roster he had isnât earth shattering. And at least a couple of the other coaches in that district did more with less imo. And yes, I believe 2-3 other coaches in that district âcouldâ (not âwouldâ because this is obviously pure speculation and conjecture) have won district outright with that team. And again, letâs not turn this into a Sigler isnât a good coach argument. Heâs obviously an excellent coach. He just wouldnât have been my choice for COTY in THIS particular year. Only because there were a couple of other remarkable jobs done in this district. But again, itâs not the worst part of the superlative voting on this team.
-
HJ had the team with the brightest future (if you donât count players who would be incoming freshmen next year). Very comparable teams this season (thus, the split). But with Bush, if Iâm picking a roster, itâs Silsbee easily imo.
-
Iâm saying that if thatâs the first time youâve heard a coach voting for himself, there must never have been a unanimous COTY vote. Because by necessity, those two would be mutually exclusive.
-
Argument could be made that with that roster, Rideaux or Mitchell wouldnât have needed a tiebreaker game to win district.
-
So based on those two sentences, a COTY vote has never been unanimous?
-
I would have chosen Rideaux or Mitchell. But I would have been fine with Davis as well. Nothing against Sig. He always does a great job. But this was a year to give it to someone else. Just IMO.
-
Agreed. Same with all the Co-players of the year. Obviously Bush is a no brainer. But in one of those categories, one of the players is in a different hemisphere than the other.

Bernie scares me. I like to be prepared for the unthinkable. If the unthinkable happened and he was able to âaccomplishâ half of what heâd like to in 4 years, could take us decades to recover. I know confidence is high, but 2016 taught us anything can happen. At the same time, if the âShanghaiâ of Bernie is completed by the Democratic Party yet again, the President could get more mileage out of that than the economy.

The key word is parents. They could care less about education either. They care about votes. -

Griggs on another level. That kid is the best prospect in the Houston area in any classification. Period. -

No itâs directed at parents putting their kids in a school of their choice, for whatever criteria they choose. The very rhetoric behind it is parents making decisions on their kidsâ educations, not others. -

AND if you guys are paying attention to politics, âchoice of schoolâ is a huge talking appoint that actually gets bipartisan support. UiL might have this particular issue taken out of its lap eventually. In other words, this has a decent chance of getting sanctioned by the government. It just wonât be called recruiting. -

Itâs just finding itâs way to 4A. That Plano East team from several years ago that won state was probably the best recruited team Iâve seen. The metroplex state champ is always formed âby committee.â Last yearâs team was no exception. AND the 4A champ (Dallas Family Faith or whatever) imported almost the whole team AND coaching staff. Houston area is just playing catch up. And it just goes on in a smaller scale down here. But it does go on and has for years. I could probably pull 20 examples off the top of my head but am not interested in doing that. -

Wow! Congrats to the Horns. Keep believing in yourselves and who cares if anyone else does. Side note - there arenât many better at dictating the pace and style of a game as your leader. Keep buying in and take it one game at a time. -
You are dipping into my repertoire.

Silsbee 76 Hardin-Jefferson 71/FINAL
TxHoops replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
While I tend to agree, there is a great equalizer any time you play Yates, no matter how talented they are. But it involves taking care of the basketball and attacking the basket. If you are settling for 3s, youâre have to hit a really high percentage this year. But they will always be vulnerable if you donât turn it over and can exploit the back side of that press. Having said all that, I agree they might be the most talented team in the state, regardless of classification. -

Can I just say how entertaining this district was this year, top to bottom? It was about as competitive as you can get. And congrats to both of these teams, and especially the Silsbee Tigers. This one was hard fought and earned. And forget what fans say about what round you may or may be done in. I see 4 teams going to the playoffs from this district who can play with just about anybody. One game, one possession at a time... -
