  1. You definitely would like to see them trending upwards. Hasn’t happened so far. But winning is the name of the game.
  2. They are a whole ‘nother level. Almost all of our kids would struggle to get minutes on that team. They have a few kids that can play D1.
  3. It is remarkable to me how many D1 guards are unable to execute a pick and roll or even a simple entry pass. When Shumate was out the majority of the game with foul trouble, the Cards struggled to capitalize getting Hamilton touches. He is easily (imo) their best offensive option, primarily because of his size and the efficiency with which he scores the basketball. But there are only a few Lamar players who are able to make the entry pass consistently, and most are other bigs (this does not involve mine who was out with the flu these past two games). But this is far from just a Lamar problem. Shahada Wells, who most rate as the top guard in the league, does a pretty poor job at executing the high pick and roll. In a game where he only played 17 minutes, Shumate was WIDE OPEN at least 3 times on rolls after he set a very good screen, and got zero touches out of them (all 3 would have been easy dunks). I can only imagine he’s probably 10 ppg under where he would be if they could or would properly run that play. And in my mind, he’s the best player in the conference by a good bit.
  4. I’m all for it. I will even make an exception to my “never, ever wear maroon” rule.
  5. Agreed. Marshall was lucky to escape that nail-biter.
  6. Looking forward to your review. I’ve only seen videos. From those though, looks like it might be the new gold standard for the Triangle area.
  7. That makes a lot of sense. Knew it had to be something screwy at that stage of the game. I do not miss having to watch high school officiating.
  8. I wanna know if anyone knows Greg Powell from Shelbyville (the current ppg record holder for a season)? 45 ppg in the 60s.
  9. It sounds like most didn’t lol - I still find it pretty cool though! (Almost as much as the district going 4-0 in the bi-district round.)
  10. Absolutely. Great job Bucs! Who says East Chambers is a swimming school?!
  11. They also took the other team’s best shot. Caldwell, who is the second best player in the league (imo) behind McNeese’s Shumate, went for 30 and 12 tonight. 30 is his career high and the 12 boards were one shy of his career high. The next two home games will tell a lot because McNeese and CC A&M are the toughest two opponents in the league.
  12. They have now beat 2 of the top 5 conference teams on the road (tonight and Nicholls). Have lost to two bad teams on the road HCU and UIW but responded well this weekend with this one and Saturday’s blowout of UNO. And both the Nicholls win and this one were in OT. Always encouraging to win those kinds of games in hostile environments.
  13. Not sure where that comes from, ma’am. I’ve always thought Whitmire is pretty composed on the sidelines, and the majority of the games I’ve seen him coach were AGAINST Orangefield.
  14. Out of likes. One issue that concerns me is the attempts to reduce funding from public schools to give it to families that home school or send their kids to private school. I believe that is one issue Dade has butted heads with the conservative platform and that is one where I happen to agree with him. And it’s nice to have the speaker from our area obviously. I struggle though because I know his main opponent personally and he’s a very good man that I believe most of this board would really like.
  15. And he’s very accessible to the students. And not just the athletes. He and his wife are just incredible people.
  16. Excellent question. Not that it’s unusual I guess. Amazing how often a politician cries about dirty politics while holding a handful of mud.
  17. My apologies if there is already a thread on this but I didn’t see one. Genuinely interested in what you guys think about this race. 1) who would you like to win? 2) is Dade Phelan in danger of losing his seat?
  18. I know you are joking but Sal and whoever else can call for all the coaching changes you want (and might be justified). But let’s all pray Dr. Taylor is here for a long, long time. Easily the best president Lamar has had in a long, long time.
  19. Orangefield 177 Kountze 17 Put that on your bulletin board Kittens.
  20. What about a former DC/now AD/HC at another local school in an adjoining county to the east? @SmashMouth - hook your guy up!
  21. Oh we can be very guilty of animal cruelty ‘round here…
  22. Thanks for agreeing to be our opener 😉
  23. Had to have been written in braille…
  24. You might be right buddy.
