  1. I would say a heavy suggestion by the conference. Let’s see if Tic Price agrees.
  2. And just like that, the outrage puzzle has been solved (and I’m not being facetious - the best solutions are the simplest).
  3. Are you for real or have you been trolling us all this time?
  4. One thousand percent (Work smarter, not harder seems to me to be a foreign concept in coaching.)
  5. I’m with you. I honestly never gave it much thought. I appreciated when my sons’ team WAS out there, they had one hand on their heart on one behind their back (as I’m sure Coach Brooks instructed them - he’s an old school guy who doesn’t tolerate nonsense). I don’t know if I will ever go to another game without noticing now lol
  6. A coach’s job at the college level is to win games and do it legally (or not get caught if you don’t). Period. Wins mean money and the bottom line is all they care about. Building character is probably item #172 on their job description. I had a friend on my FB tell me she was at a Lamar’s men’s game and the team was out and had their hands on their chest during a recent game. Both of my boys had to be in that line so I asked my oldest how many times they were out for the anthem this year he said maybe 5 or 6 times. They played 30 something games. I honestly am surprised if either team is out for the anthem in any league (and I’ve been to games in probably 7 or 8 D1 leagues). If it works out and they are done, they come out. If not, they don’t. But maybe that will change now. If any school (and Iowa WBB is apparently NOT one of them) is out for the anthem before this craziness more often than not, it can’t be more than 5 percent of the schools out there.
  7. Exactly. And there is a lot that can be said about Kim Mulkey (and I would agree with a lot of it). But to portray her as “woke” is laughable. This is the same lady (if my source is reliable and I would heavily bet that it is) that was told by the Baylor AD that she was “too intolerant.” (Which was apparently about the time she began her exit strategy there.) And even Scott Drew, who is a devout Christian and share his faith with anyone any time) allowed way more latitude with his players during the whole craze that was happening following the George Floyd death. As previously stated, she was the only coach in Waco that had zero tolerance with her players acting out. But hey, it made a catchy headline and based upon my social media feeds, hooked plenty of gullible folks.
  8. I appreciate both of your stances. The libertarian in me doesn’t disagree with Hippy, and the father in me has instilled in my son how to behave when the anthem is played. It’s just that 80-90 percent of the time, they are still in the locker room. And let’s face it, that is a business. Will Wade isn’t now making $700k a year at McNeese due to how his team behaves during the anthem. Which is probably why he is using that time to final prep his team as well. Right or wrong, those guys are coaching for their livelihoods and they all are trying to get the best use out of literally every minute of the day pregame to try and get the win.
  9. Thank you. That’s all I was trying to point out. And I happen to agree with you.
  10. Reading comprehension is key. If you are still lost, I can’t help you. As a friend of mine once told me, stop arguing basketball (or in this instance, its customs) with people who were picked last in PE…
  11. Standing is not the issue. Mulkey, for anyone who knows anything about her, would never allow kneeling. I would think anyone with any connection to Baylor would know that. The issue is the practice across college basketball, men’s and women’s, of being in the locker room going over game plans, praying (for LSU at least), etc., when the anthem is played. Just like apparently Iowa was as well last year when they played. The issue is clickbait articles talking about a team “walking off the floor” during the anthem (while attaching a video showing nothing of the sort because that was a bold faced lie) and dolts being gullible enough to fall for a headline and share it across social media until it becomes “fact.” The issue is calling maybe the most politically conservative coach in the sport “woke” because again, well clicks. But such is the “low information” society we live in I guess. And for the record LRF, I would prefer the teams being out there standing when the anthem and school songs are played, just like in football, baseball, etc. I’m guessing that will become the norm now and that should have been the story, not the deceiving one that has been circulated. So perhaps some good will come of it. I’m not even an LSU fan and am glad we get to see another game or two of Clark. But if anyone did an ounce of research before posting this trash, they could indict almost every (if not literally every) D1 CBB coach in the country.
  12. You must be right. I just wish Karma (and Governor Landry) didn’t hate God so much 🥲
  13. That and they probably have the baddest women’s player on the planet!
  14. Well if you are going to be wrong about what happened by falling for clickbait articles’ titles attaching a video proving exactly the opposite, at least be wrong with the holder of the high office of the state where the university is located (can’t imagine a politician jumping in trying to get some political gain - weird!) Again, in the games I’ve attended (SLC, Big 12, SEC, WAC, ACC, Conference USA, AAC), very rarely is EITHER team on the floor for the anthem. It’s just the norm in college basketball. Not saying it’s right and I’m sure it will be changing. But to make it an LSU and Mulkey thing is just uninformed, “low information” arguments.
  15. I’m certain Mulkey would agree with you. And I agree 100 percent about Clark. She is something else. I never thought I would see the day I would rather watch the women’s tournament than the men’s, yet here we are.
  16. We fall for the media’s bs on both sides over and over again. Like Bart Simpson touching the stove. Anyone remember this narrative? Tough to have it both ways… [Hidden Content]
  17. The irony is Mulkey was the only major sport coach at Baylor who refused to let her players participate in BLM protests and has an American Flag suit in her repertoire…
  18. They didn’t walk off. They were in the locker room when the anthem was played. Like both teams usually are in probably 99 percent of the 200 or so college basketball games I’ve attended. I get the criticism and don’t fault you for it. But it’s a college basketball issue, men’s and women’s, not an LSU issue. I would be surprised if Iowa is always out there as well. Coaches use the time when they play the anthem and school songs to do last minute prep. Unlike football when the teams are already out there when it’s played.
  19. Unbelievable Cougar High advanced. I’ll say it, if Wade Taylor had even been “okay”, they win that game comfortably. He was selling from beginning to end and was just god awful. Tough to beat a one-seed when your best player is playing like it’s the 15th run of an open gym but the Ags almost did just that. They were the better team last night imo.
  20. Barnes looks like Grisham and Terry looks like Gus Fring from Breaking Bad. Or at least some think so (including me 😉 )
  21. John Grisham > Gus Fring
  22. I have no reservation saying BTHO Cougar High! (Ok, that was a bit of a lie and I may or may not have thrown up in my mouth a little bit but I am definitely Team Aggy/Buzz/Hef tonight 👍)
  23. This was the weakest I’ve seen the Southland conference in many years. But I thought McNeese may have been good enough to compete and get a tourney win because they were that much better than the rest of the league. Apparently not. Getting run out of the gym. I did tell someone they wouldn’t been a solid double digit dog against that ACU team that beat Texas a few years ago in the first round. That team was significantly better than McNeese, but so was the league then when you had Sam Houston, SFA, etc.
  24. Samford will be tough in the second round 😉
  25. Ahhh makes sense. I was just looking at the WNIT field and they have some stinkers in that one. Didn’t realize NCAA owns the men’s but not the women’s NIT
