  1. Big 12 looks gangbusters in wins over tough opponents such as Northern Iowa, Indiana State and the Dukes of James Madison.
  2. Saban: “I only said these guys were suspended if we weren’t struggling with a basketball school...”
  3. I noticed that too. And Allen has long been a “transfer Mecca” for football. And if we’re honest, they are only picking up where the Odessa Permian teams of the 80s and 90s left off. Sure those teams were tough, but if you think all that talent was homegrown among the tumbleweed... During the hay day of Big Oil, many a lucrative job existed in West Texas for parents of talented gridiron stars. And all of that makes the recent titles for Silsbee and Memorial even more an accomplishment. Because as someone said earlier, each might occasionally get a transfer, but nothing compared to the “big city” schools they compete with deep in the playoffs.
  4. You guys are going to have to learn that banging your head against the wall is more productive than trying to carry a logical discussion with some posters on this site. Herman’s offense is absolutely perfect for Roschon which is why he was the first offer and commit in his class. He was recruited as a QB, not a RB, WR or DB. Sitting at 3rd on the depth chart as a true freshman at a school that recruits like Texas is nothing to sneeze at. And like others have said, if Sam were injured, I’m sure he would get his reps to compete. As far as “burning the redshirt,” don’t forget the new rule that allows for a player to play up to 4 games and still qualify for a RS.
  5. We get a transfer in this area and battle lines are drawn. In Dallas, this has been going on for a while. Houston may be deciding to go the “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” route because they have done a pretty poor job of beating them. In the end, these decisions are left up to each individual district and UiL doesn’t get involved unless some type of appeal or waiver is filed.
  6. Agreed. I’ve seen all three, the two from last season more than the transfer (although the transfer is certainly good). The only one I would say is clearly better is the Jones kid. I favor Bush over the other returner and haven’t seen enough of the transfer to say one way or the other. And at the HS level, Bush is obviously capable of outplaying any one of them on a given night. The real killer is that depth for silsbee. You’re talking 3 guards “ranked” in the top 10 of the greater Houston area. Along with two really big, talented big men. And a ton of depth beyond that. Yates may end up being the best team in the Houston area. And that’s including some schools who will be among the better teams in the state at the two higher classifications.
  7. Super talented. One of the better guards in the area for sure.
  8. Agreed. Take Duncanville last year, the 6A champ. Not only did they get (legally) Micah Peavy when they hired his dad as coach (which has long been a potential benefit when hiring a coach whose kid is a stud) but they pick up Jahmius Ramsey (now at Texas Tech) after the school year started. In fact, if I’m not mistaken, Duncanville was the third school Ramsey was enrolled in last year, and the one at which he settled. You aren’t off calling them super teams. And despite having similar enrollments, you can’t compete when teams are forming with the talent base of a Houston or DFW.
  9. For point of reference, if you believe Jimmy Hicks’ rankings (and I’m not suggesting you should), Bush would be the 4th best guard on the floor in a matchup against Yates.
  10. Indeed. A 6’10”, a 6’8” and a very talented 6’3” PG transferring in from Pro Vision. All 3 can play. And add this to two of the better guards in the greater Houston area. Yates may have their best team since the glory days. On another note, one of the better guards in the Houston area from Ridge Point has enrolled at Family Faith in Dallas, the defending 4A champs.
  11. Dabo said last season was a pretty good one too.
  12. I didn’t know how that Morton Ranch thing made sense anyway. The way they run their offense, he would have been a spot shooter waiting for an occasional LJ kick.
  13. [Hidden Content] Get in line “rivals.” Get in line.
  14. Both were arguably the best players on their respective teams as well. Regarding the special ed waiver, I think it has more to do with what classes they take. As for a disability, I didn’t ask a lot of questions because it did not apply in this situation, but I believe it relates to Section 504 cases which, as I understand it, primarily deals with learning disabilities. I do know that English as a second (or 5th) language does not fall within that section.
  15. Yep. If he turned 19 next Sunday instead of last Sunday, he would have been fine. Meanwhile, a couple of kids who turned 20 their senior year for a couple of this area’s perennial powers were able to suit up and play within the past several years. But the only age waivers that exist with UiL apply to special Ed and disabilities.
  16. [Hidden Content] Rest in peace El Ced 🙏
  17. I like the one of the ref from the Saints playoff game who was “responsible for the suicide watch of Epstein.”
  18. I vaguely remember him. The guy at Garden City on this past season sure wanted to come across as someone who does things the right way. In the end, he came across as almost as crazy as that idiot Brown.
  19. I haven’t gotten to that one yet but plan on watching it.
  20. Couldn’t agree more.
  21. Too early to revisit?
  22. I was thinking the same thing yesterday. I was watching an old Amazon series on the 2015 Arizona Cardinals. Bruce Arians, like most NFL coaches, uses quite a bit of profanity but his players and assistants seem to love him and he seems to genuinely care about them. Was a sharp contrast to all of the seasons I’ve seen of LCU.
  23. More relevant is his recent propensity to insert his foot in his mouth...or is he? [Hidden Content] Is it possible he is taking a page out of the President’s playbook? Is this the new formula for success in American politics? I certainly hope not. And it won’t play as well in gaining the nomination on the side of the aisle he’s seeking.
  24. By the way, BSW is right. For a group that I’m sure preaches tolerance, this “doxxing” (you learn new words all the time now) is nothing more than intolerant cyber-bullying. Hypocrisy at its finest in a day and age where hypocrisy is found in abundance on all sides.
  25. The problem is that like with a lot of cowards, these groups like to operate anonymously. As Bakre noted, the University Police are investigating. So you guys can take solace that although your tax money is not going to a student group that isn’t sanctioned by the University, it is going to the Police agency that’s investigating them.
