  1. In the category of least surprising news today: [Hidden Content] This won’t end well.
  2. Tough to win shooting it like that. For a team like EC, that’s beyond a “bad shooting night.”
  3. My heart was with the Bucs but I was afraid going in that Brock’s size and discipline might prove too much. I will take Madison over Brock on Saturday.
  4. That’s what I’ve heard (similar to Argyle). When those type teams take care of the ball and control tempo, tends to really frustrate teams that like to run and gun.
  5. I am not a fan of charter schools for reasons that go way beyond basketball. There are a myriad of ways in which they are hurting public education. I would say that when the highest ranking official in education in our country is an extremely vocal advocate for these charter schools, it’s not likely to change any time soon. But that’s a different discussion for a different board. Your point is a good one and well taken.
  6. I am pulling for Yates but I’ve had a feeling the Region 2 team would be the team to beat due to being so battle tested. I hope I’m wrong and the Lions wear them down like they have almost all teams they’ve faced. I do think this should be the de facto championship game. Decatur has the ability to slow the game down and maybe hang around and pull off an upset in a low scoring affair. But I think either of these teams losing to the winner of the other semi-final would be a considerable upset.
  7. If Duncanville wins its semi, that televised game will definitely be worth watching. Their backcourt is something special and as I’ve stated before, the best in the state imo. And yes, that includes South Garland’s.
  8. Anything over 2.875 million is obviously ridiculous.
  9. Bats get going that’s a really scary team.
  10. Texas takes down the overrated #2 LSU Tigers again, 8-4. Cole Quintanilla gets 7 Ks in 2 & 2/3s to end the game. Nasty stuff. Horns go for the sweep tomorrow. #yawn
  11. It’s been a heckuva run. Senior classes like the one Silsbee has come along rarely if ever. But you’re right. Silsbee will still be plenty good and will be a factor most years. But I think Tiger fans either appreciate now, or will come to appreciate in the coming years, just how special the Class of 2019 has been.
  12. Ferg will let us know. I’m guessing that’s what It was though.
  13. Yikes. Did NOT see it ending like this. What a run by the Tigers though. Been a heckuva ride. Great game Yates. Lions earned it. Now get to SA and finish the job.
  14. This other Sanchez guy is really good too. Very impressed with his call of this game.
  15. Fight at the back rack at the Disch. Horns win 8-1. #yawn
  16. I’ve already told you, that day may have already come but I wouldn’t admit it
  17. Wasn’t sure whether to post this on the college or pros board. I chose this one because it gets more traffic. I know Dakota’s father posts on this board from time to time and thought this was too good not to share. If this young man doesn’t inspire you, I don’t know what will. I hope he has a long and prosperous professional career. But for the time he was in college, he was the epitome of a student-athlete. [Hidden Content]
  18. I think that’s a bit cynical, albeit maybe justifiably cynical. As the video shows, he is now getting hammered from all sides, and rightfully so. But the egg on many people’s face is not so easily wiped off. The greatest tragedy, as the reporter points out (and as Hagar previously argued ITT), is the lingering effect these scams have on real victims.
  19. I will probably get blasted for this but Congress has an all time low number of lawyers among its members. I read it’s somewhere around 36 percent when historically it’s been around 80 percent. This couldn’t have been more apparent than in the Cohen hearings. The questioning was unwatchable. No real examination. People reading statements pre-prepared. No follow ups. All of them just basically stumping their self-interests. I would also submit that the current make up of congrès also lends itself to being unable to negotiate and find common ground, without folks who practice these “arts” for a living. Is this shift in backgrounds/professions of Congress members a bad thing? LRF and I have discussed the benefit of “gridlock” in Congress many times. But what about when we actually need those yahoos to get something done?
  20. [Hidden Content] Stop hitting nails on the head Hagar. Here is a news segment/commentary expressing your exact sentiments by an African American reporter. Smollett’s actions were “deplorable” on so many levels...
  21. No I think he’s done. And don’t disagree. It’s not working. Sometimes good coaches are a fit everywhere. (See Charlie Strong.) Managing the Brewers isn’t the same as managing the Yankees.
  22. I will say I respect Shaka’s discipline of his players. Another player who was recently “kicked off the team” has become a the best player at another power 5 school. Had to admire a man of principles.
  23. My understanding is he can throw a baseball with the best of them too. Big kid is a special kind of athlete.
