  1. He and Adams both signed with Austin Peay. Probably at least 100k apiece in scholarship values.
  2. Sigler has always (as long as I’ve been following anyway) had very integral parts of his team play both so I would say definitely not (i.e., he doesn’t interfere with them playing). McCain’s big brother ended up with a football schollie. Every kid and his family makes their own decision. You could tell Devon was going to be a D1 player years ago. The only question was how high. Those scholarships are worth a lot of money and I don’t blame the kids who don’t want to risk it on the gridiron when hoops is their ticket. And with Bush’s frame, I definitely wouldn’t want to be absorbing shots on that body when he’s another kid whose future is on the court. Reminds me of Chase Shugart in Bridge City a few years back. Kid was a really talented QB who had already signed or committed to UT in baseball. He and his family decided no football his senior year. He’s now slinging the ball for a living.
  3. So was McCain. Saw him play in jr high. Kid was electric and was easily the best player on the field that particular night. I think he and Bush may have been on the same team at the time (Devon was a 7th grader) - can’t remember if that was before Bush went to Legacy.
  4. He’s listed at 6-4. I would say he’s more around 6-2. I wasn’t sure if he’d grown but seeing him next to his teammate Micah Peavy (who’s a legit 6-5), I’d say that’s still about right. No matter - he plays bigger than 6-4 anyway.
  5. Sorry, thought this thread was something else by the title. Moving along...
  6. I forgot about the new Redshirt rules until you posted this. Makes even more sense to transfer for Boo. In all honesty, probably better for the program if Sam stays healthy. Going to have RJ, Card and whoever else battling for that position the next year.
  7. Put another way, would any Texas fan on this board take Hurts over Ehlinger? I didn’t think so.
  8. Someone remind me how the sec did in those bowl games.... Fact of the matter is, QB play has been weak in that conference as have the offenses. The “prolific” Georgia offense looked rather pedestrian against Texas, as did Tua against Clemson. All things considered, this is the happiest I’ve been about an OU QB in a few years at least. Hurts is serviceable, he’s not close to what they’ve had imo.
  9. Reed was the most indispensable player on that team imo. He was a monster on the boards. Missing him and the leading scorer Elam...talk about a different team.
  10. Lipan has to be extremely tough to have beaten Shelbyville recently. Neither of those teams would beat this East Chambers team though imo.
  11. By the way, no more poor mouthing from Hardin folks. I discovered a Subway AND a Dollar General from my brief reconnaissance.
  12. Lumberton is extremely well coached and they do a great job of dictating the pace of most of their games. That’s a different story when you play the Tigers who typically do the same, just at the other end of the spedometer. I’ve the Raiders more than once this year and they do a great job of not only preparing but in-game coaching. I will also say that Coach Mitchell made an excellent hire over the off-season bringing former Central assistant Coach Rideaux to his bench. Some schools would be wise to take a long, hard look at him if their head job opens up. That guy is a true student of the game, capable of coaching many different styles of play.
  13. Give me that North Shore kid next year along with one or two of those big uglies he has opening holes for him.
  14. I agree. The SEC bias in the sports media is as humorous as it is appalling.
  15. OF 49 Hardin 30 F Kind of an ugly game all the way around. First time to see Hardin. They were a scrappy bunch. Definitely should be a playoff team in this district.
  16. OF 27 Hardin 13 H Hardin slowing it way down which is probably wise.
  17. It’s not as easy as you guys might think and these things don’t put themselves together. It takes money and manpower (usually AAW busting his hump) to get done. I know he has to ‘beat the bushes’ to get the games broadcast at state, when there are a lot of people interested in listening and not just the fans of whatever local team is playing. I’m sure if anyone knows of businesses or people wanting to sponsor a Silsbee broadcast (or other school), the staff would be all ears. There’s a difference between “I’d sure like to hear the Tigers’ games broadcast” and “I’d sure like to spend my money to hear the Tigers’ games broadcast”...
